The iconic Terminal 2 at GVK CSIA opened its gates to international passengers with the arrival of first international flight (AI-343) from Singapore at 1300 hrs and the departure of Jet Airways (9W118) to Heathrow airport, London at 1320 hrs on 12th February 2014. Executive Chairman, MIAL, Dr. GVK Reddy and Managing Director, MIAL, Mr. GV Sanjay Reddy welcomed the passengers of the first departing international flight at the terminal s check-in hall. The Air India flight received a ceremonial water cannon salute on its touchdown. Permanent baggage tags specially created for the occasion saying First to experience T2 and goodie bags were given to the passengers. GVK KIA s new Terminal, enhanced also opened to public with the departure of Jet Airways flight 418 to Mumbai at 1558 hours on 8th February, 2014 and arrival of the flight EK 566 from Dubai at 1840 IST on 10th February 2014. The first set of passengers at the new enhanced Terminal received a warm welcome at the arrival and departure gates. With world class infrastructure, cutting edge technology and passenger friendly design, new Terminals at GVK CSIA and GVK KIA have raised benchmarks in airport infrastructure sector. GVK CSIA Receives Recognition at 19th Flower Show & Garden Competition Carrying the baton of green initiatives for all our business processes, GVK CSIA received the first prize for Vile Parle under flyover greenery and beautification project at the prestigious 19th Flower show and Garden competition in Mumbai. IVRS number - 022 66851010 will provide automated information regarding airport related queries to all callers. A Passenger Response Cell (PRC) has also been set up to provide customised information to the callers and also obtain feedback on airport services. All complaints and comments will be registered and will be taken up under the complaint handling process to improve service standards. Malindo Air Launches Scheduled Services at GVK CSIA Malindo Air, a Malaysian hybrid airline, has officially launched five times a week service from GVK CSIA, Mumbai to Kuala Lumpur. This would enhance the airport s connectivity with Malaysia and other South East Asian countries reinforcing GVK CSIA T2 s position as a leading gateway to Mumbai and India. Alliances like these would certainly pave the way for effective connectivity to other parts of the world.
GVK KIA Organises the First Ever Airport Cricket League Mr. Syed Kirmani (centre) celebrating with the winning team The first ever edition of Airport Cricket League, an Inter Corporate Cricket Tournament was organised by GVK KIA at Bengaluru International Airport Sports Ground. The final was played between CISF and Menzies Bobba. 16 Teams from 21 companies participated in this 4-day Tournament, where Menzies Bobba emerged as the winner. Former Indian Cricketer, Mr. Syed MH Kirmani, presented the Rolling Trophy to the winning team and individual trophies to players from both teams. ACI Asia Pacific Technical Bulletin Features GVK Airports Airports Council International (ACI) Asia Pacific Technical Bulletin has featured GVK CSIA and GVK KIA for achieving Airport Carbon Accreditation of Level 2 (Reduction) and Level 3 (Optimisation) respectively. GVK EMRI Rajasthan Launches 25 New Ambulances Health Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Rajendra Singh Rathore flagged off 25 new GVK EMRI 108 ambulances on 21st February 2014 in the presence of PHS, Shri Deepak Upreti (IAS), AMD- NHM, Shri Niraj K. Pawan (IAS), State Head GVK EMRI, Rajasthan, Shri Hiren Bhatt and other dignitaries and media personnel. Within a week s time 65 new ambulances would be deployed, adding a total of 90 ambulances to the existing fleet of 522 GVK EMRI ambulances. GVK EMRI Chhattisgarh Conducts Training Programme for Doctors GVK EMRI Chhattisgarh, in association with Health department of the state, had organised a three-day training programme at Dantewada for doctors, paramedical staff, police and paramilitary forces for handling medical emergencies during mass casualties. There were over 100 participants from the districts of Bijapur, Dantewada, Sukma and Jagdalpur. The training programme included mock drills of mass casualties to assess the response of doctors and paramedical staff. The participants were trained to tackle emergency situations, to handle patients with life threatening wounds and to effectively coordinate with various agencies in such situations. Training Programme in progress Road Safety Drive in GVK EMRI-Karnataka National Road Safety Organisation (NRSO), in association with Indian Institute of Hams and GVK EMRI Karnataka, organised a 50 km long road safety drive in Bengaluru aimed to create road safety awareness while promoting the concept of defensive driving. Over fifty vehicles including cars and motorcycles participated in the drive. GVK EMRI to Introduce All-Terrain Ambulance Continuing its noble initiative to serve people, GVK EMRI has developed an indigenous design to convert the commercial four-wheel-drive vehicle into an ambulance. The new ambulances, which will be part of the 108 ambulance network, will ply in hilly areas and tribal regions. The Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project has purchased 78 four-wheel-drive ambulances to reach the inaccessible areas of the state. The new ambulances will include a collapsible stretcher and a spine board with a provision to load two oxygen cylinders. GVK EMRI s New Mobile App to Improve Response Time GVK EMRI, in association with Tech Mahindra, has developed a new mobile application that has been devised to automatically pick up location coordinates (latitude/longitude) of the caller and flash the same at GVK EMRI s centralised call centre. This would reduce the current response time by 23%. The application has been integrated with Google maps to achieve greater degree of accuracy in finding the location of the caller. While the app is initially only compatible with android devices, it would soon be made available to other users as well. The ambulances too are equipped with tablets that will navigate to the location of the callers. Puja at Bagodara Vasad Expressway Project The Bagodara Vasad Expressway Project employees performed a Puja at km 30+650 to mark the commencement of the construction works at the Sabarmati Bridge along the Sabarmati River. The deal will enable GVK BIO, which has established itself as a pre-eminent small molecule service provider, to expand its service offering to a broader base of organizations and gives GVK BIO expertise in biologics services and a significant US presence. The acquisition provides Aragen with the ability to expand its service offerings, access to GVK BIO s global sales force and access to new markets.
