This as due to a nely elected governor s lan to change long standing traditions o collective argaining as a ay to cut sending. Ater itnessing the strie and tensions eteen oth the ro-union suorters and modern day Tea Party rotestors, I as initially insired to consider this country s irst real strie ith Britain during the Boston Tea Party and ho that event heled shae a more erect union among the 13 colonies. This idea came to musical ruition in a ne iece ith three arts. The irst art o the ork ortrays that early struggle or uniication o the colonies during colonial times. Part 2 relects the coming together o our country ater a tumultuous civil ar. And inally, art 3 relects the sirit and ight o the current divide in today s olitical atmoshere. In the end, all o these situations o diiculty have ultimately resounded in our voices eing more uniied and ith stronger resolve. From our day-to-day struggles our atriotic sirit is galvanized in creating a...a more erect union. He egan his riting career creating hundreds o arrangements and comositions esecially or rass, many o hich are erormed y today s oremost rass ensemles. His orks or the Sotto Voce Quartet (a grou he co-ound and manages) have also gained him orldide acclaim. He egan to comose or other genres, as dozens o commissions rom ig-name rass artists to university and high school and directors egan to come in. He no considers himsel extremely lucky to e a ull-time comoser and arranger riting esecially or Carl Fischer Music. Fores egan his career as a tuist in the U.S. Army Band, Pershing s On, here he as also very ortunate to comose and arrange or the various ensemles in that restigious unit. He let the and or a career in academia here he has served on the aculties o Illinois State University, Mary Washington University, Columia Union College, and Frederick Community College. He continues to e an active reelance erormer and has erormed ith a host o orchestras and ands throughout the United States. He can e heard on Summit Records on a numer o Sotto Voce Quartet alums ut also on his on solo recording, Fores Plays Koetsier, here he eatures all seven orks or solo tua y Dutch comoser Jan Koetsier. As a conductor, Fores served as the musical director o the Brass Band o Central Illinois and has guest conducted numerous elements o the U.S. Army Band. He is highly in demand as a guest conductor ith junior and senior high honor ands and youth rass ands. Fores studied ith some o the most ell-knon tua edagogues in the orld including comoser/tuist, John Stevens. He received his DMA at the University o Maryland, MM at the University o Wisconsin and a BM at the Pennsylvania State University. During his junior year at Penn State he took an exchange to Manchester, England here he continued his studies at the University o Manchester and the Royal Northern College o Music. His time in England aorded him the oortunity to gro intimately amiliar ith the British Brass Band tradition, rom hich he dras a great deal o his comositional inluence.
