Information Note Regional Meeting of the African Least Develope Countries on Sustainable Energy Dar es Salaam, 5-6 December 2016 1. Introuction The Regional Meeting on Sustainable Energy will be hel in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 5 to 6 December 2016. This meeting will be organize jointly by the Office of the High Representative for LDCs, LLDCs an SIDS (UN- OHRLLS) an the Government of the Unite Republic of Tanzania, with support from UNDP Country Office in Tanzania. The Regional meeting aims at builing national leaership on energy sector an creating stronger multistakeholer partnerships to improve access to finance. 2. Venue The venue for the Meeting will be at the Bank of Tanzania Conference Hall within the City Centre. Conference Hall of Bank of Tanzania, 2 Mirambo Street, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, 11884 (Please see map on page 5) 3. Visa arrangements All visitors require a visa except citizens of some African an commonwealth countries. It is avisable to obtain visa's in avance from Tanzania Embassies an High Commissions as some airlines may require it before allowing you to boar. But you can also be issue with a visa on arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport an at the Namanga, Sirari, Horohoro, Tunuma an Taveta Tanzania borers. Stanar fee rate for Orinary Visa is US $ 50, for Multiple Entry Visa is US $ 100 an for Transit visa is US $ 30. East Africans are waive from visa an fee. Passports must be vali for at least six months. Delegates from the least evelope countries will be provie with a letter to the airlines, allowing to boar without visa. However, elegates who will be transiting through Nairobi or Ais Ababa are avise to check transit regulations of the respective countries prior to eparture to avoi any possible inconveniences when airport authorities request for transit visa. Nationals of countries exempt from visa requirements will be issue with free visitors pass at the same entry points. Those travelling to Zanzibar, visas are require even for a ay s visit. Visa requirements however vary from time to time an you are avise to check on prevailing status well ahea of travel. Participants are recommene to stay at s within the proximity to the Bank of Tanzania (BOT) Conference Hall. To facilitate networking among the participants, it is preferable that elegates stay either in New Africa or Ramaa Encore (closest to the meeting venue). 5. Travel Arrangements Participation of 2 officials from each African LDC will be fune by UN-OHRLLS. Accoringly, travel arrangements for these officials from LDCs will be mae through UN-OHRLLS, which will provie them with a roun trip economy class air ticket an aily subsistence allowance (DSA). In orer to initiate travel requests, please confirm participation at the earliest to UN-OHRLLS, latest by 4 November. All other participants of the conference are requeste to make their own travel arrangements. Participants are avise to arrive in Dar es Salaam a ay prior to the Conference. 6. Arrival at the Airport Participants will be responsible for arranging their own transportation between the airport an hotels. The taxi fare between airport an city centre is approximately $30. The taxi fare within city centre is between $5 10. It is recommene to use official taxis only an negotiate fare in avance. 7. Currency an Banking Services Local currency in use in Tanzania is Tanzanian shilling (TZS). Visitors entering Tanzania from yellow fever infecte areas require yellow fever international certificate of vaccination. Yellow fever vaccination is require for all travelers from yellow fever enemic countries/regions. All iniviuals in transit for twelve (12) hours or more an/or who leave the immeiate airport vicinity in a yellow fever enemic area are require to show proof of vaccination upon arrival in any port of isembarkation here in Tanzania. Direct arrivals from non-enemic countries in Europe an North America are not require to show the certificate. 10. Working Language The working languages of the conference are English an French. Interpretation will be available. 11. Aitional Information a. Language commonly use in Dar es Salaam is Swahili. However, English is wiely spoken. b. Electrical sockets (outlets) in the Unite Republic of Tanzania usually supply electricity at between 220 an 240 volts AC.
