Topics covered: The Silk Road initiative and regional cooperation for sustainable economic development. The tourism industry is one of the main instruments for regional development, as it stimulates new economic activities, tourism related investments and mutual understanding. Stronger cooperation between countries in the Balkans will accelerate sustainable economic progress in the region, which is one, in global scale, one of the main goals of the Silk Road initiative. Nautical tourism as a dominant connection between Hainan, biggest Chinese island, and Croatia. Nautical tourism has become more popular over the past few years, especially to wealthy customers. It represents one of the most attractive forms of tourism in Croatia whose coastline consists of numerous islands, beaches, natural resorts, ports and bays. With over 1000 islands, Croatia has a significant comparative advantage for nautical tourism development, interesting not only to Europeans, but also to Asian tourists. Health Tourism Health tourism as a sub-sector of general tourism comprises of medical, wellness, and spa tourism. Croatia and Balkan countries are extremely rich in natural sources for health tourism, including therapeutic mud and thermal waters, but also has skilled and educated doctors in hundreds of top-class clinics. Unpolluted with industry, area is surrounded by beautiful and clean nature, fresh air and sunshine. Cultural tourism and promotion Host of the conference is the City of Dubrovnik, cultural capital of Croatia, and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dubrovnik City is often used as filming location by Hollywood blockbusters that made it internationally most famous Croatian city. Croatia and the Balkan region are full of rich history and culture, traditional festivals and centuries-old customs. Promotion of its own culture in far-away markets, like China, is a necessity to be recognized and distinguishing from other markets. Become China Ready In 2017, Croatia and neighbouring Balkan countries have experienced growth in the number of tourist arrivals from China ranging from 40-60% over the same period last year.
