FADE IN INT. HOSPITAL ROOM - NIGHT 2001 MILLER, 23, tall and thin, African American, is standing at the bedside of his mother. Maggie Miller, 45, is laying on the bed holding Kevin s hand. She is near pale, bald headed, and thin. There is a heart rate monitor that beeps next to her. Mom, I m so sorry. It s all my fault. MAGGIE (Rubbing Kevin s arm) Don t you worry about a thing son. I ll always love you no matter what. MILLER, 26, muscular, enters the hospital room. He walks over to Kevin and pushes him away from the hospital bed. Get away from her you son of a bitch. MAGGIE (Smiling) Now is that any way to talk about your mother. John turns away from Kevin to face Maggie. He grabs her hand. Kevin walks over to the window and looks out. I just don t wanna lose you ma. MAGGIE Don t worry about me. (She coughs) You need some water ma? MAGGIE (Coughing) No I m fine honey. What I need is for you two to look after each other. And John. Don t let any thing happen to your brother.

CONTINUED: 2. I give you my honest to god word. Maggie smiles, turn her head, and begins to shake, still holding John s hand. Her eyes roll back into her head. The heart monitor begins to beep faster. Doctors and nurses rush into the room. Kevin runs over to the bed. Everyone is over top of her. The heart monitor flat lines. Maggie s hand slips out of John s and down to the bedside. Kevin and John look at each other across the bed. INT. BAR - DAY 2006 It s spring. A small bar in Baltimore, MD. Dimly lite with pool tables, poker games, and a juke box. The juke box is playing Stevie Wonder, "Just enough for the city". There a few people in the bar. Kevin is dressed in jeans and a tank top and is sitting at a stool drinking a beer. The bartender COOK,28, Caucasian, blond attractive women, walks over to Kevin. Ready for another one? Yeah sure. Kevin finishes off and beer. Kristen takes the empty bottle and tosses it in the trash. Kevin watches Kristen walk over to the other side of the bar. As soon as Kristen is out of his sight, Kevin reaches over the bar and into the cash register. He grabs a handful of money. Kevin turns to put the money in his pocket, but before he is able to someone grabs his wrist. Kevin looks up and standing before him is John, dressed in all black. Kevin snatches his wrist back and throws the money on the bar counter. Kristen rushes over with a beer in her hand. (Picking up the money) What the hell do you think your doing? He was stealing that s what. That s what he does best, take things away from people.

CONTINUED: 3. You act like you never stole from me before. If you weren t my brother I d... (Stepping closer to Kevin) You d what? Kevin shoves John into the bar. John shoves him back. Kevin shoves John into the bar knocking over some bottles. They exchange slaps to the face. Kristen comes out from behind the bar and steps between them. Boys, Boys. Don t do this. Yeah, he d probably just get his gangster friends and that bastard Tony after me. Kevin finishes off his drink, slams the bottle down on the bar. I don t have for this. I ll see you later Kristen. Kevin exits the bar. Kristen goes back behind the bar. You still blame him. Wouldn t you? Maybe. But don t forget you did take something from him to. (Looking down at the floor) Yeah but what he took can t be replaced. Well...you better hurry up it s 2:30 already. Don t worry, I won t be late.

4. Kristen reaches over the bar and gives John a kiss. He strokes his fingers through her hair. John leaves the bar swinging his keys in his hand. EXT. 2ND STREET - DAY A neighborhood with newly built homes. People are outside mowing the lawn and washing their cars. Kevin is walking past some houses, smoking a cigarette. He sees a little girl riding a bicycle and he smiles. A car comes racing up the street driving erratically. The little girl rides right into the cars path. Just as the car is 5 feet from the girl, Kevin jumps and knocks her out of harms way. Kevin helps the girl up and brushes her off. Are you okay little girl? LITTLE GIRL Yeah. Thanks Mr. The little girl gets back on her bike and rides off, looking back at Kevin. Kevin walks to a house across the street. He looks in the windows. He turns the door knob on the front door and shakes it. He backs away from the door and looks up at the windows on the 2nd floor. He walks around the back of the house. EXT. BACKYARD - DAY A private fence goes around the backyard. There is a pool and a swing set. There,s a deck on the back porch. Kevin try s to open the backdoor, but it s locked. He backs away from the door and looks up. He sees a window cracked open on the 2nd floor. Kevin climbs up a storm drain and opens the window up all the way. He climbs inside the window. INT. BEDROOM - DAY The room is large. Everything is decorated in white and pink. There is a 50 inch flat screen on the wall with large speakers beside it. Kevin falls inside the window knocking over some photos off a light stand. He picks them up and looks at them. He stares at one of the photos. Shown in the photo is Kristen and John holding hands Maggie Miller, 5 years old. Kevin snaps the

CONTINUED: 5. glass on the photo frame with his hand. He tosses the photo on the floor. Kevin walks around the room looking around. He looks in the closet, under some pillows, and inside a dresser. Kevin pulls out a photo from one of the dresser drawers. Shown in the photo is Kevin and Kristen kissing each other and holding hands. Kevin smiles and puts the photo in his back pocket. Kevin walks around the room looking around. He looks under the bed and sees a medium sized gray box. He pulls the box out and sits on top of the bed with it. He opens it and see stacks of money. Kevin hears car brakes outside. He runs over to the window and sees John pulling into the driveway. Kevin hurries to grab some money out the box. He sticks it in his pockets. He puts the box back under the bed and leaves the bedroom. EXT. DRIVEWAY - DAY John gets out the car and opens the backdoor to the car. Out hops Maggie with a book bag on her shoulders. They hold hands and walk toward the front door. Maggie is skipping. John opens the door and they walk inside the house, leaving the front door open. INT. BEDROOM - DAY John walks over to the bed and drops down on one knee. He pulls out the gray box and opens it. He gasp and opens his mouth wide. He puts the box on the bed. John paces the room and starches his head. He kicks the broken photo on the floor. He picks it up and looks at it. He looks over at the cracked window. He begins to shake and his face turns red. Tony Pitbull,43, and two men dressed in all black enter the bedroom. John is standing at the window looking out with the photo in his hand. Tony walks over to the bed and counts the money in the box. Is this all you got for me? John jumps and turns around. He walks over to Tony with the photo in his hand. Oh, Mr.Tony I didn t hear you come in.

CONTINUED: 6. Don t try to change the subject. It s been 3 weeks John. I know Mr.Tony, but I can explain. I m sure you can. Tony looks down at the photo John is holding. Tony bobs his head to one of the men dressed in black. The man walks behind John and hits him over the head with a gun. John falls to the floor. Maggie walks in the room and runs over to John. She rubs his back and cry. Don t worry honey, daddy s just taking a little nap. INT. BAR - DUSK The bar is busy. The juke box is playing rap music. Kevin is laughing and joking with other people standing by the pool table. He waves his hand for Kristen to come over and she does. You sure are cheerful tonight. Kevin reaches in his pocket and hands her a 100 dollar bill. Here, take this and buy everyone in the house a drink. Oh and keep the change. Wait, first your broke and now your throwing money away. What did you do rob a bank? Just ran into a little luck that s all. Now how bout those drinks. Kristen walks away. Kevin stares at her ass, shakes his head, and licks his lips. She turns around and shakes her fist at him. He puts his hands up in the air. Kevin s cell phone rings. He pulls it out of his pocket and flips it open.

CONTINUED: 7. Hello. You think you can steal from me you MOTHER FUCKER! (Starching his head) What? Who is this? I m the Pitbull bitch. Oh, you mean the low life bastard my brother works for. Say what you will, but if you don t have my money very soon, your brothers a dead man. And after I m done with him, I m coming after you. Wait Tony, I can explain. That s what your brother said before I hit him over the head. Kristen walks over carrying a tray of drinks. Is everything okay Kevin? Maybe I ll come after that sweet little bartender too. Take a long walk off a short pier. You son of a bitch. Kevin slams the phone shut. He brushes past Kristen and runs out the bar. Kristen watches him as he leaves.

8. INT. APARTMENT - NIGHT Kevin is packing clothes and other things into bags. He reaches for a bag and trips over a suitcase. Kristen walks in with a key in her hand. Kevin looks up at her. He looks back down and packs a suitcase. Leaving so soon? Kevin shoves some clothes into a book bag. Kristen walk over to him and grabs his arm. He stops packing and looks at her. What is going on Kevin? Kevin turns and walks away from Kristen. He faces his back to her and looks up at the wall. (Walking over to Kevin) John didn t come home today. John s... been kidnapped. WHAT! He was supposed to pick Maggie up from school today. Kevin turns and grabs Kristen s arms and looks into her eyes. (Crying) Kevin, they have our daughter. Kevin walks over to a drawer, opens it, and pulls out a gun. He puts the gun in the back of his pants. He walks over to Kristen and kisses her. I promise. I won t let anything happen to her. Kevin walks away leaving Kristen crying in the apartment. He opens the apartment door. He turns and looks at Kristen. He leaves out and closes the door.

9. EXT. OUTSIDE PITBULLS HOUSE - NIGHT Kevin walks up to Pitbulls house. There is a gate at the front entrance and a long driveway leading to the front door. Kevin walks up to the gate and a man with a shotgun opens it for him. MAN WITH SHOTGUN Come on in. We ve been expecting you. Kevin walks through the gate and up the long driveway to the front door. There are two men guarding the front door. They open it up and let Kevin inside. The two men give Kevin a nasty look as he walks inside the house. INT. PITBULLS HOUSE - NIGHT It s a very large house decorated with the latest furniture and electronics. There are security guards all over the house. One of them motions for Kevin to follow him down the hall. Kevin follows him. They stop at a door at the end of the hall and the Guard opens it. He pushes Kevin inside and closes the door behind him. INT. PITBULLS OFFICE - NIGHT The office is brightly light with a desk facing the door. There are also doors on the side of the office leading out. Sitting behind the desk is Tony Pitbull.There is a guard standing beside him. Kevin walks up to the desk, pulls out his gun, and aims it at Tony Pitbull. The guard aims a gun at Kevin. Looks like we got our selves a standoff. John walks in. He walks over to Kevin and pulls out a gun. He puts it up to Kevin,s head. (Laying his gun down on the desk.) John, what are you doing? Something I should have done a long time ago. If it weren t for you my mother would still be alive.

CONTINUED: 10. That was a long time ago. She forgave me. Ya know, that money you stole from me 5 years ago was supposed to be for mom s operation. And she dead because of you. Maggie runs in the door with one of Tony s guards chasing her. She runs over to Kevin and hugs his leg. Kevin puts his arm around her. John puts the gun down by his side. John stares at Maggie. MAGGIE Daddy, daddy. Ain t that sweet, a family reunion. Well times up. Give me my money and I ll think about letting you go. You told me she wouldn t be involved. Well, I lied. John pulls up his gun from his side and point it at Tony.Kevin picks up his gun from off the desk. NO! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND? I made a promise a long time ago that I would never let anything happen to my brother. John turns and looks at Kevin. Kevin, I forgive you. Now get the hell out of here. You think I m just gonna let you walk away?

CONTINUED: 11. No, but my brother and my niece will. Me and my gun will keep you company while they leave. (Grabbing John s arm) John, don t do this. He ll kill you. Go. (Whispering in John s ear) I will avenge you. Just do me one favor. Take care of my family, our family. Kevin grabs Maggie s hand and starts toward the door. A guard steps in front of him. Tony waves his hand and the guard moves out the way. Kevin opens the door. I ll find you. Nobody steals from Tony Pitbull. Kevin closes the door and leaves the house. Leaving his brother alone. INT. S HOUSE - DAWN Kristen is pacing the floor, biting her nails. The front door opens. Kristen turns to see Kevin and Maggie walking in the door. Kristen runs over and picks Maggie up. She hugs and kisses her. Kristen turns and looks at Kevin. John? Kevin shakes his no. Kristen begins to cry. Kevin rubs her arm. Come on pack your things you have to go. I get the feeling your not coming with us.

CONTINUED: 12. I have some unfinished business. I ll meet up with you when I m done. Please Kevin, be careful. Kevin looks Kristen in the eye. He grabs her by the waist and gives her a long kiss. FADE OUT
