2.3 Ground Movement Please be ready to report your call sign, gate\stand number, aircraft type and the ATIS letter you are in receipt of to the Ground Controller on first contact. Newcastle does not have a Delivery position so Ground will issue your departure clearance. Newcastle Ground EGNT_GND 121.720 Newcastle does not have SIDs; however it does have published standard departure instructions which you will be given as part of your clearance. The clearance will include a climb on runway heading to a specified distance (DME) and then a turn onto a heading, please ensure you understand what you have been cleared to fly, if you don t then please ask. 2.3.1 Example departure clearances (IFR) Runway 07: <callsign>, cleared to London Heathrow via P18. After departure runway 07, climb straight ahead to 3.5DME then turn right heading 190 degrees, climb to altitude 6000ft. Squawk XXXX. Runway 25: <callsign>, cleared to London Heathrow via P18. After departure runway 25, climb straight ahead to 1.5DME then turn left heading 210 degrees, climb to altitude 6000ft. Squawk XXXX After receiving your clearance you remain with Ground for pushback, engine start and taxi. The Ground layout at Newcastle is relatively simple compared to larger airports, however please ensure you have a ground chart handy as you may receive intermediate holding during taxi. 2.4 Tower Approaching the active runway you will be handed off to Newcastle Tower (EGNT_TWR) who will handle you until after departure. Newcastle Tower EGNT_TWR 1119.700 IMPORTANT All IFR Departures from Newcastle have an initial climb to ALTITUDE 6000ft on Newcastle QNH, unless otherwise advised. Pilots MUST NOT CLIMB above altitude 6000ft unless cleared to by ATC. This limit is in force to keep you separated from arrival and should be observed AT ALL TIMES. Departures will be handed off to Newcastle Radar (EGNT_APP / EGNT_R_APP) for further vectors and climb before being handed to London Control (LON_N_CTR). 3 Arrivals To assist controllers and to expedite your arrival, please adhere to the following procedures. 3.1 ATIS (Automated Terminal Information Service) While you are in the cruise, preferably before Top of Descent, use the time to setup your aircraft for arrival into Newcastle. Check charts and current weather / ATIS information (do not leave your frequency to check ATIS without permission from the controller). Newcastle ATIS EGNT_ATIS 118.370 3.2 Standard Arrivals (STARs) There are no STARs into Newcastle, expect vectors and speed control to be used. 3.3 Initial Approach When London hands you over to Newcastle Radar (EGNT_APP / EGNT_R_APP) pilots should be prepared to report the following on first contact: Call sign, cleared level, a\c type, information in receipt of (ATIS) and any other information the that the previous controller requested you to report, e.g. High Speed, heading etc. Newcastle Radar EGNT_APP \ EGNT_R_APP 124.370 Newcastle Radar will vector and descend you onto your downwind leg, where if online, you will be handed to Newcastle Director (EGNT_F_APP). 3.4 Final Approach Director will vector you in for your final approach. Newcastle Director EGNT_F_APP 125.825 Pilots should contact Director using call sign ONLY unless requested to include further information by the preceding controller. Once established you will be handed off to Tower who will give you your landing clearance. Newcastle Tower EGNT_TWR 119.700 After landing vacate the runway and you will be asked to contact Ground who will then taxi you to your allocated gate/stand. Newcastle Ground EGNT_GND 121.720 5 / 6
