ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS CASE IH 5088, 6088/7088, 7010/8010 & 7120/8120/9120 Series NEW HOLLAND CR STD Series Combines (Large) big top 26301(service only), 29976 (service only), 53408, 53543 & 54274 The Crary Big Top Large Extension fits right on top of the Crary Big Top Regular Extension. This extension also fits on top of CIH 7010/8010, 7010/7120, 8010/8120, 9120, 5088, 6088/7088, and New Holland CR STD standard (OEM) hopper extensions. Follow these instructions to properly install and transport this extension. If you are not sure of your combine weight limits, call your combine manufacturer for advice. Combine manufacturers will provide you with the maximum combine weight limits of their various models. WARNING Use of this product is at the owner's discretion. Increasing grain capacity may adversely affect center of gravity, stability, and controllability. Exceeding maximum combine weight limits can risk structural integrity and drive line components. Crary Industries does not assume any liabilities, or make any warranties regarding the performance or structure of the combine. See combine owner's/operator's manual for specific limitations, operating recommendations, and safety information. Shut off combine and remove key before installing the hopper extension. Make sure the combine is on a level surface. Engage parking brake. Be careful when working in the combine hopper. The sloped sides and sharp edges are dangerous and could cause serious injury. Big Top No. 26301(Service Parts Only), 29976(Service Parts Only) & 53543, attach the panels Attach the front/rear and side panels first; attach the corners last. Align the bottom of the panel with the top lip of the original hopper extension (whether it's a regular size Big Top or OEM hopper extension). The two pivot hinges should straddle the pivot braces. 4. If you are installing on a regular size Big Top, the holes for the pivot hinges will be pre-drilled. If you are installing on an OEM hopper extension, the holes for the pivot hinges will need to be drilled. Line up the pivot hinge so it sits flush with the pivot brace (see Figures 2). Drill through the top hole (A) and center hole (B) of each pivot hinge through the pivot brace. Make sure the bottom of the panel lines up with the top lip (This acts as a reference point). FOR CIH 5088, 6088/7088 ONLY: The front pivot hinge on the right hand panel will not line up correctly without installing a top pivot bracket as shown in Figure Hold the panel and pivot bracket in place and mark where the three holes should be drilled on the bottom panel. Drill three 11/32" holes where the top pivot bracket will go. Bolt the bracket in place with three 5/16" x 5/8" bolts and secure with 5/16" serrated flange nuts. Place a quick release pin into the top hole (A) of one pivot hinge to lock panel in place. Secure quick release lanyard into exsisting hole on panel (see Figure 3) using 1/4 x 3/4" bolt and centerlock nut. Follow the same procedure for each panel. Big Top No. 26301(Service Parts Only), 29976(Service Parts Only) & 53543, attach rubber corners (all models except cih 6088/7088/8010/8120/9120) Attaching to Front/Rear Panels Align the holes on each corner with the respective holes located on the front/rear panel. Place a 4-hole corner clamp directly on top of the rubber corner, aligning the holes of the corner, the corner clamp and the panel. NOTE Install the corner clamp so the angle lip is facing toward the front/rear panel (see below). Attaching to Side Panels Align the holes on each corner with the respective holes located on the side panel. Place a 3-hole corner clamp directly on top of the corner, aligning the BOTTOM three holes of the rubber corner, the corner clamp and the panel. NOTE Install the corner clamp so the angle lip is facing toward the corner (see below). 4. 5. Place a 5/16" x 7/8" bolt through the bottom 3 holes and tighten with a corresponding 5/16" nut to secure the rubber corner to the panel. DO NOT BOLT THE TOP HOLE TO THE PANEL. Place a clevis pin through the top hole, from the outside, and secure with a hairpin clip in the hole closest to the head of the pin. To attach the corner support rod, slide the end of the rod onto the clevis pin and secure using a second hairpin clip. 4. 5. 6. 7. Place a 5/16" x 7/8" bolt through the bottom two holes and tighten with a corresponding 5/16" nut to secure the corner to the panel. DO NOT BOLT THE TOP TWO HOLES TO THE PANEL. Place a long pivot tab through the top hole on the clamp (inserting the screw with the hole) and tighten. Place a long pivot tab through the hole at the top of the rubber corner (inserting the screw with the hole) and tighten. Insert an angled pivot tab onto the long pivot tab and secure using a locknut. Tighten to maximum amount while still allowing the tab to pivot on the long tab. To attach the corner support rod, slide the end of the rod onto the weld screw on the angled pivot tab and secure using a locknut. Tighten to maximum amount while still allowing the tab to pivot on the long tab. Page 3
Big Top No. 26301(Service Parts Only), 29976(Service Parts Only) & 53543, attach plastic corners (CH 6088/7088/8010/8120/9120) Attach three lanyards to both sides of each panel with 1/4" x 3/4" hex bolts and 1/4" nuts. LANYARDS Wrap each lanyard end around a lynch pin so the pins don't get lost. Align plastic corner holes over the three clevis pins on the side panels. 4. To mark the proper location for the support rod holder, place the holder in the center of the corner approximately 28" (approximately 22" for the CIH5088 only) from the edge of the panel. Align the top edge of the holder level with the top of the corner. Mark the bottom edge of the holder. Place the top edge of the holder on the mark (approximately 3/4" from the top of corner). Drill two 1/4" holes in the corner using the holder as a template. Install the holder using two 1/4" bolts, flat washers and lock nuts. RELOCATE LIGHT AND GRAIN SENSOR 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Remove the hopper light from its bracket. Remove the grain sensor from its bracket. Remove the sensor/light adjust bracket from the regular hopper extension and discard. Attach the new, shorter sensor/light adjust bracket and the GPS mount bracket onto the front panel of the Big Top. Attach the sensor onto the sensor/light adjust bracket. The sensor should sit vertically. Extend the existing wire harness and connect to sensor. Attach the GPS to the GPS mount bracket. Attach the light bracket to the top of the sensor/light adjust bracket. Attach the light to the light bracket. Extend the existing wire harness and connect to the light. GPS MOUNT BRACKET SENSOR/LIGHT ADJUST BRACKET 5/16-18 X 3/4 CARRIAGE BOLT LIGHT MOUNT BRACKET INSTALL BIG TOP STEP (all models except CIH 6088/7088) There are four pop-out holes on the rear panel of the regular Big Top hopper. Knock these four holes out. If installing on an OEM hopper, holes must be drilled according to drawing at right. Place the step onto the panel, aligning the holes on the panel with the holes on the step. Place a 5/16" x 5/8" bolt through each hole and secure with a 5/16" nut. Remove the hairpin clip holding the corner support rod to the front/rear panel; slide the support rod off the clevis pin. You will use the hairpin clip in Step Pivot the support rod away from the front/rear panel towards the opposite end of the side panel. Slide the end of the support rod onto the long pivot tab and secure with the hairpin clip. Repeat for all corner support rods. Pull the quick release pin from the top hole (A) of the pivot hinge on the front and rear panels. Fold the front and rear panels towards the middle of the combine hopper. Place the quick release pin into hole (C) (which has now rotated to the top position) to lock the panel in place. Repeat process for side panels. The side panels will rest on top of the front and rear panels. Remove the four plastic corners and place in the bottom of the tank. Pull the quick release pin from the top hole (A) of the pivot hinge on the front and rear panels. Fold the front and rear panels towards the middle of the combine hopper. Place the quick release pin into hole (C) (which has now rotated to the top position) to lock the panel in place. Repeat process for side panels. The side panels will rest on top of the front and rear panels. NOTE Do not engage unloading auger with the panels in the bottom of the tank. Page 7
