Essential Air Service Dulles International January 9 Submitted an essential air service bid to provide twice daily service to Plattsburgh, NY from Dulles International, with 50-seat regional jets operating as United Express. March 18 Awarded SkyWest the authority to operate subsidized service twice daily between Plattsburgh, NY and Dulles International with 50- seat regional jets operating as United Express. Service starts August 29, 2018 and flights are currently available for sale to the public.
Russian Overflight Rights and Visa Issues April 17 Agreed on an extension to overflight rights for US carriers. Overflight rights (the ability of US airlines to overfly Russian airspace to serve points in Asia) were set to expire in April, but were extended until October 28. This has potential to impact Aeroflot s Dulles International flights in the future.
