LGAV LTAI Real Flights Event Partnership EUROPE PILOT's BRIEFING March 7th 2009 Event time: 1200z 2200z Ankara and Istanbul FIR Guides & LTAI Guide Written by: TR-STAFF
Dear fellow IVAO members and virtual pilots, The Real Flight Event Partnership Europe is a new type of Event, making its first appearance in IVAO. It is a combo type of Event with two Divisions involved (TR-DIV and GR-DIV) organizing in a way two s eparate RFEs and an Air Bridge Event at the same time between the two selected airports, the airport of Antalya LTAI and the airport of Athens Eleytherios Venizelos LGAV. The unique type of this Event, and as a major RFE in general, challenges your pilot skills and expertises so the briefing below should be carefully studied long before and in depth before the RFE Partnership Event Day!!! General Information First of all let s see some general information about the Turkish Airspace and Antalya International Airport LTAI.
Istanbul Airspace Turkish Airspace is divided into two FIRs (Flight Information Region); İstanbul (LTBB) FIR and Ankara (LTAA) FIR. İstanbul FIR has an ACC (Area Control Center) which is divided into two main sectors; İstanbul North ACC and İstanbul South ACC (İzmir APP). No airspace classification is made in Turkish airspace. Thus, all of the IFR and VFR flights entering a controlled airspace have to be equipped with a transponder and a transceiver radio. The airspace within İstanbul FIR of the applicable FIR between FL290 and FL410 inclusive is EUR RVSM Airspace. Within this airspace, the vertical seperation minimum shall be: 1. 1000 FT(300M) between RVSM approved aircraft, 2. 2000 FT(600M) between Non-RVSM approved state aircraft and any other operating within the EUR RVSM airspace, an aircraft experiencing a communication failure in flight operating within the EUR RVSM airspace. Istanbul FIR Procedures All pilots must initial contact some minutes before entry to Istanbul ACC s. After the entry to Istanbul ACC s continue to your flight plan whit ATC sector for your destination. Some times there must a problem like internet, aircraft..etc, you must tell to ATC controller for your situation. When you fly ove Istanbul ACC s You can request destination airports s informations like weather, runway, traffic information...etc.

Ankara Airspace Turkish Airspace is divided into two FIRs (Flight Information Region); İstanbul FIR and Ankara FIR. Ankara FIR has an ACC (Area Control Center) which is divided into four main sectors; Ankara West ACC, Ankara South ACC, Ankara East 1 ACC and Ankara East 2 ACC. No airspace classification is made in Turkish airspace. Thus, all of the IFR and VFR flights entering a controlled airspace have to be equipped with a transponder and a transceiver radio. The airspace within Ankara FIR of the applicable FIR between FL290 and FL410 inclusive is EUR RVSM Airspace. Within this airspace, the vertical seperation minimum shall be: 1. 1000 FT(300M) between RVSM approved aircraft, 2. 2000 FT(600M) between Non-RVSM approved state aircraft and any other operating within the EUR RVSM airspace, an aircraft experiencing a communication failure in flight operating within the EUR RVSM airspace Ankara FIR Procedures All departure and arrival traffic must contact after/before Istanbul ACC and Antalya Approach ( LTAI_APP). When contact stay a little minute on ATC s channel. After tell your initial FL and positions to ATC. a possible delay may occur because this information should be reported always after co-ordination with responsible station, i.e. LTAI_APP All pilot have to do for ATC introduction about flight s shape( Flying to Via/INT., altitudes etc.)
