Aims of the Trip To give students the opportunity to improve their knowledge of French in all of the four language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. To give students the opportunity to learn more about French culture by enjoying some typical experiences of a visit to France. To encourage students to work with others in a co-operative and constructive manner. To help students to become more independent.
Who is going? 45 year 8 and year 9 students. Madame Sherrington (lead teacher) Madame Hughes (French teacher) Ms Thirlwall (French, German and Spanish teacher) Mr Selwood (Citizenship and Ethics teacher ) Mr Marshall ( MFL teacher assistant)
Behaviour and Safety High standards of behaviour are required at all times during the trip. Remember mb that t the way you behave when you are in France is a reflection on you, your family, your school and your country. It is essential that students listen to teachers instructions at all times. Failure to do so may compromise the safety of the group. Pupils MUST arrive at meeting points on time. Make sure you are absolutely clear about where and at what time you have to meet your teachers. Please see the insurance document provided! The Cherwell School staff have the right to send any student home if his / her behaviour is unsatisfactory in any way.
Some safety measures... Students will be divided into 5 groups of 9 and will be registered at numerous points during the day. During registration, ti students t must wait in silence - to be counted every time a teacher calls for this. This is essential to your safety. Never cross a road without an adult or at least 2 other members of your day group. Traffic will be approaching from the left and not the right as in the UK. Under no circumstances are students to go out alone. When you go out, you should always be accompanied by an adult and at least 2 other members of your day group. Familiarise yourself with the Euro notes and coins and their worth before we arrive in France. You will carry with you at all times your teachers phone You will carry with you at all times your teachers phone numbers and the address and phone number of The Youth Hostel and the coach reference in case of emergency.
Above all We will be mixing with other members of the public on the ferry, on trips so you should be polite and considerate at all times. We expect you to be sensible and tidy on the coach most firms have a no eating rule on board and that includes sweets and chewing-gums. You should follow safety advice instantly tl and without question eg on the coach you must stay seated with your seatbelt done up at all times. Enjoy yourself and make it easy for your fellow students and your teachers to enjoy themselves also!
Language Every student will be getting an activity booklet to complete during the stay. Don t be afraid to have a go at speaking French! Try and ask for things in French in shops a little language goes a long way! Write down any new words you come across in your activity book. Use part of your activity i book to record what you do - keep everything you can to stick in it (e.g. postcards, tickets, leaflets). There will be awards for the best completed work books.
