Spain Catalonia Natural Parks Ecoturism Package 7 days 2nd TEST Learn about the geology of Cap de Creus, observe the biodiversity of Aiguamolls, and be amazed by the cliffs of the Medes Islands and Montgrí, while following thousands of years of Mediterranean history that shaped our civilization. 11th May Arriving to Barcelona or Girona airport. Meeting at Barcelona airport at 15.00h with the tour leader or at Girona airport at 16.15h. Transfer to Mas Vivent. Check-in at Mas Vivent and introduction to MEET program and the Natural Parks of Catalonia participating in the project. After the introduction, our tourleader will introduce us to the whole programme of the week. Once, we are situated, we will start with our first activity To prepare our typical Spanish and Catalonian lunch! Montse will show us how to cook a fantastic meal with local products. Diner and first night at Mas Vivent 12th May After a nice breakfast at Mas Vivent, we will be ready to go to Sant Pere de Rodes. We will visit one of the most interesting monumental ensembles to learn about the medieval world, Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery, with astonishing views to the Mediterranean Sea and Empordà. We will arrive to Sant Pere and we are going to do a short climb to Sant Salvador Castle, from where you will have the best views of the north of Costa Brava. 2
After the descend, a guide is waiting for us to dig up all secrets hidden in this fantastic monastery that it seems hanged on the rocks. We will lunch in the restaurant of the Monastery and we will have some free time to enjoy and relax. After lunch, we will go to Cadaqués crossing a part of Cap de Creus Natural Park, a clear example of the Empordà winemaking landscape, with more than 30.000 kilometres of feixes, stone walls that the old farmers built up to gain growing ground in that rough countryside. Before going down to Cadaqués, we will stop in an OD Empordà winery where the family have got back the vineyards and have given back its old appearance to Cap de Creus. Checking at the hotel in Cadaqués and free time to visit the village before going to diner a fantastic tapas meal. 13th May Today, we will enjoy a walking day through Cap de Creus and Camí de Ronda. Transfer will pick up us around 9.00 to go directly to Tudela, where Mercè is waiting for us. She will show us one of the jewels of the Park and we discover with her, one of the most marvellous parts of the Park. After this, we will be go to Port Lligat by transfer, where will have lunch. After lunch, we will have time to visit Salvador Dalí s house, before enjoying our afternoon with an exciting kayak route, in which we will enjoy the Natural Park from the sea. In the case you don t want to do kayak, our guide will show you the nature and history of Cap de Creus and Cadaqués, taking a nice walk. 3
Arriving to Cadaqués and free time until the diner time. Today we will diner in a nice restaurant managed by Ferran Adrià chef. 14th May Today we will leave the Natural Park of Cap de Creus to go to the Aiguamolls. We will arrive to Marshes of Empordà to do an excursion-birdwatching by kayak. The Aiguamolls is the second humid area in Catalonia and makes a privileged habitat for the fauna, specially the aquatic birds. Our bus will pick up us to go for lunch into a restaurant in Sant Pere Pescador. After the lunch, we will have a small walk to arrive to the hotel. Checking at the hotel and free time. Now, it s time to relax on the beach, take a bath in the swimming pool or just lying in the middle of the nature. Diner in the hotel. 15th May After breakfast, displacement to Torroella de Montgrí. We will leave Torroella taking the GR92 that crosses the Massís del Montgrí. The path starts beside the see, passing some small coves until Punta Ventosa. At this point the path passes just beside the cliffs. The beauty of this stretch will make us enjoy this corner of the Empordà. We will keep walking to the interior of the Massís until we get to the Montgrí Castle, where we will have outstanding views of the Pyrenees, the Mediterranean and the Empordà flatland. Descent to Torroella where our bus will be waiting for us to go to L Escala. Early lunch in l Escala because at 14:45 we will have the guided visit to the fish market. We will see how an auction runs and which kind of fish is selling. Visit also to the harbour. 4
Before arriving to the hotel, we have an essential visit when you are in La Escala awaiting for us: an anchovy factory where we can see how anchovies are prepared and taste the well-known anchovies from La Escala. Return to l hotel and free time until diner time. 16th May Today, we will take a bike and we will go to l Estartit, where Núria is waiting for us. Núria is the Catalan lute, a traditional and typical boat of fishermen in this area of the coast. We will do an excursion by boat to the Medes Islands and the coastline. From l'estartit, we will sail along the entire most unspoilt coastline, visiting its beaches, islets and cliffs, "the Rock Foradada" and "Les Tres Coves". On the way back, we will visit the "Illes Medes" reserve, where we can contemplate the wonder of the seven islets that make up the archipelago and admire its rich seabed. Lunch in l Estartit and come back to the hotel. Free afternoon. Time to go by bike to Torroella village or just stay in the hotel. Farewell dinner in the hotel. 17th May Transfer from Torroella to Barcelona airport at 9.00h in the morning. 5

Remember that it could be rainy and windy at this time of year, as well as, very sunny. So don t forget the sun cream. YOUR TRAVEL TRANSPORT Barcelona is the city with more connexions of Catalonia. And we recommend you to have the return flight, 1 hour and a half before the drop off time. MEETING POINT AND TIME The meeting point is at Café Jamaica, Terminal 1-Arrivals.
