The 2010 FIFA World Cup took place June 11th to July 12th - 32 teams from 6 Confederations competed in 10 stadiums across 9 host cities in South Africa - the first African nation to host the finals. The finals saw Spain defeat third-time finalists The Netherlands 1-0 in overtime, with Andres Iniesta s goal in the 116th minute giving Spain their first world title. Spain were announced the Champions, with The Netherlands as runners-up, Germany placed 3rd and Uruguay finished 4th.
Over 3.1 Million supporters travelled to South Africa to support their home teams - Worldwide Charter Group helped to make this possible! The 20 th FIFA World Cup took place in 2014 in Brazil from June 12 th to July 13 th 31 national teams advanced to join the host nation in the final tournament. It was Brazil s second opportunity to host the competition (the first was in 1950). A total of 64 matches were played in 12 venues located across twelve host cities. In the final, Germany defeated Argentina 1-0 to win the tournament and secure the country s fourth world title, the first since the German reunification in 1990. Germany became the first European team to win a World Cup staged in the Americas.
WCG was proud to join the 5.1 million fans present in Brazil that travelled cross-continent and internationally to attend the 20th FIFA World Cup - this was the most fan-attended World Cup in history! Worldwide expanded its operation dramatically from 2010, directly leasing five (5) of its own wide body aircraft (A340s and B767s) and flying over 5,000 fans to and from Brazil as well as operating domestic flights within the country between matches. Worldwide successfully tackled the increase in demand by dramatically extending its infrastructure and hiring additional networks of local support staff and representative to ensure 24/7 support was available to all clients for all flights.
