DURING VACANCY: Services are the responsibility of the Archdeacon and the August schedule is published overleaf. Any pastoral emergencies should be addressed to the Archdeacon or to the Revd Canon Roger Harmsworth (contact numbers are on front page of this Newsletter). 100 Years ago this month: The First World began a hundred years ago this month, a terrible time in which many parishioners gave their lives. A little known fact is that the first Wexford man to die was Samuel Parslow. Samuel was a crew member of HMS Amphion which became the first ship from the Royal Navy to be sunk just over 30 hours after the commencement of the First World War. Samuel Parslow, perished when the HMS Amphion sank in August 1914. Samuel was one of eight children born to William and Elizabeth Parslow, who lived in Grange, Fethard. More can be found about the story of Samuel in the magazine, On the Hook
