2013-2014 Group Tour Planner Holiday Attractions, Events and Entertainment This planner has been developed to provide information and details on the attractions and entertainment that is available to groups during the Dickens Victorian Village holiday season. Arrangements can be made and confirmed by contacting Jonett Haberfield, our group sales coordinator at 1-866.334.6446 or info@dickensvictorianvillage.com ATTRACTIONS: Dickens Victorian Village Displays An experience that will engage the senses as you explore the charming streetscape, striking historic architecture, and eclectic shops and eateries of Historic Downtown Cambridge. Your costumed guide will provide interesting facts and lead you on both a driving and/or walking tour to take in all of the sites along Main Street. Learn about the Victorian era by reading the plaques at the base of each of the 80 Dickens scenes. Allow two hours. Dickens Welcome Center/Ye Ole Curiosity Shoppe Visit with volunteers in costume as they share stories and photos of how the Dickens display was created. The Imagination Station is everyone s favorite place for reminiscing. Select the perfect Victorian hat, gloves, and cape as you imagine being a Victorian yourself and posing for a picture with Charles Dickens. Don t forget the souvenirs you can find something for everyone on your shopping list here! Allow 30 minutes. Guernsey County Courthouse Holiday Music & Light Show- Nov 1 st until Jan 5, 2014 The courthouse comes alive nightly with thousands of pulsating lights synchronized to holiday music. The display is computer controlled with over 500 electrical circuits and 20,000 lights. This amazing light spectacular is presented nightly starting at 5:30pm and every half hour until 9pm. Allow 30 minutes. National Museum of Cambridge Glass It s a Victorian Christmas at the National Museum of Cambridge Glass. Stroll through the museum decorated for the holidays, led by first person interpretive guides dressed in Victorian clothing and representing actual employees. Enjoy the beauty of the Cambridge Glassware and special feature displays as well as dioramas that educate visitors about the glassmaking process. The gift shop features holiday items. Allow 1 1/2 hours.

Christmas As We Remember Join the Guernsey County Historical Museum during the holidays as they share "Christmas as we remember." Each of the 16 rooms in this 1823 historic home will be decorated with memories from 1890-1960. Shed tears of joy in the military room as a soldier comes home for the holidays. Take in the smells and sounds of mama's kitchen. Step back in time with toys from your childhood. Walk through the women's department of the old Davis Department Store. View 80 Nutcrackers on display along with 150 Santa's. It will truly be a feast for the eyes and senses. This attraction has stairs and is NOT handicap accessible. Allow 1 hour. Christmas at the John & Annie Glenn Historic Site Visit the John & Annie Glenn Historic Site during the holiday season and step back to a simpler time. Your living history tour on the main floor of the home will be the day you visit only in 1944 and you ll experience the life on the Home Front during WWII. Decorations were modest then but the living room is highlighted with a beautiful Christmas tree adorned with vintage ornaments, popcorn garland, silver tinsel re-used from years past and colored Noma lights. Allow 1 hour. National Road/Zane Grey Museum The only museum along the entire National Road constructed as a depository of information about the road. The museum also features Zane Grey, the famous Zanesville western story writer and an exhibit of the Zanesville pottery industry. The museum displays horse-drawn carts, buggies and wagons, plus a collection of antique bicycles and automobiles that were at one time commonly seen on the National Road. Allow 1 hour. For the Love of Wine and Cheese tasting at Georgetown Vineyards Sitting high atop a scenic ridge overlooking the city of Cambridge, enjoy sipping dry to sweet wines coupled with a variety of Ohio s most popular cheeses. Nationwide, Ohio ranks in the top 10 for several cheese types and is the No. 1 Swiss cheese producer in the country. A tour of the family owned winery is included (not handicap accessible). Allow 1 hour. Dickens Dollars can be used here in the gift shop. Coal Miner s Christmas Presentation Learn how coal miners and their families celebrated the holiday season through a dramatic presentation performed by volunteers dressed like coal miners. This presentation can be done at a restaurant during one of your group s meals or on the stationary Byesville Scenic Railway Train. The train will NOT move. The train museum and company store are also available at the train depot. Allow 1 hour. The Pantry Door and Deli Visit the area s only bulk food store for a wide variety of Amish/Mennonite goodies including candy, spices, dried fruits, nuts, cereals, grains, beans, rice, pasta, snacks, coffee, tea, bread mixes, and flour. Have you every wondered how a bulk food store gets all those goodies in just the right size packages? Learn how it s done as you work the assembly line behind-the-scenes and enjoy the fruits of your labor on your way home. Brown bag goodies are also available upon request without the hands on activity. Allow 30-60 minutes depending on your group size. Dickens Dollars can be used here. St. John s Episcopal Church Enjoy a guided tour of this beautiful church that was built by the founder of Cambridge Glass, A.J. Bennett. Learn about the holiday traditions that he shared with the congregation and Charles Dickens visit to Ohio followed by tea and English biscuits. Allow 1 hour Wonderland of Trees November 6 th through 13 th Visit the lobby of the local medical center to view this local holiday tradition. Beautiful holiday decorations by local creators are on display in preparation for the annual fundraising gala. Groups are met by auxiliary members in Victorian customs with holiday refreshments for everyone. Allow 1 hour.

SCHEDULED ENTERTAINMENT: Victorian Dinner & Dance-November 16 th at 6:00 pm February 7, 2012 was the 200 th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens! There are year-long celebrations and exhibits planned all over the world, as well as right her in Cambridge, Ohio. Join the Cambridge Social Dance Club for an unforgettable evening of dance and merriment from the Era of Dickens with reels, jigs, polkas and waltzes. Dinner is catered by Theo s Restaurant followed by dancing, demonstration and more fun than you would ever imagine! You might even see Charles Dickens himself! Join in. learn to dance or just watch the fun! When the dancers pause for a well-earned rest, visitors can join in light refreshments. Costumes are optional, of course. The Magical World of Charles Dickens Saturday November 16 th, 23 rd & December 7 th, 21 st at 2pm In celebration of Dickens life and work, local author Beverly Kerr and a cast of local performers shares her original story of Mr Dickens journey along the streets of downtown Cambridge, Ohio. Imagine his delight at seeing his favorite characters frozen in time, or are they? The play takes place in current times as local student Emma decides to photograph and write an essay for one of her classes at school about the Dickens mannequins that line the streets of Cambridge. What a wonderful surprise she gets when Charles Dickens himself comes to life and reminisces about his past. As Charles wanders the streets, each mannequin he passes comes to life and Emma captures it all! What will she do with her evidence of live mannequins? Come settle in at the Cambridge Performing Arts Center and enjoy this delightful hour of storytelling. Allow 1.5 hours. Cambridge Christmas Parade Saturday, November 30 th at 5pm The much-loved holiday parade sponsored by Cambridge Main Street. Features include Father Christmas, lighted floats, bands, a visit from Santa, and more! Allow 2 hours. Cambridge City Band Concert Saturday, November 30 th at 2:30 pm Performed at the Scottish Rite Theatre in Historic Downtown Cambridge. Allow 2 1/2 hours with intermission. Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra s Holiday Pops Concert Thursday, December 5 th at 7pm Secrest Auditorium- Zanesville, Ohio Saturday, December 7 th at 3:30pm Brown Chapel- New Concord, Ohio Join us for the most festive concert of the year! Celebrate the joy and wonder of the holidays as the Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra presents a magical evening filled with your favorite holiday music. Allow 2 hours with intermission. Meet The Maestra Schedule a personal visit and guest presentation by the SEOSO maestra during a luncheon or dinner while your group is in the area. Cambridge Performing Art Center s It s A Wonderful Life December 6 th, 7 th, 20 th & 21 st at 7pm, Special Group Matinee on Saturday December 14 th at 3 pm, Sunday Matinee December 8 th & 22 nd at 3 pm. A holiday classic George Bailey grows up in the small town of Bedford Falls, dreaming dreams of adventure and travel, but circumstances conspire to keep him enslaved to his home turf. Frustrated by his life, and haunted by an impending scandal, George prepares to commit suicide on Christmas Eve. A heavenly messenger arrives to show him a vision: what the world would have been like if George had never been born. Presented in the historic Cambridge Performing Arts Center in historic downtown Cambridge Allow 2 1/2 hours with intermission. New Year s Eve Gospel Sing December 31 st at 7pm The 15 th annual gospel sing sponsored by the Guernsey Gospel Jubilee Association, this spectacular event is free! A meal will be served at Midnight.

ENTERTAINMENT ON DEMAND: Meet Me At The Well Experience the Living Word Outdoor Drama as a costumed guide takes your group on a journey through the history of the only outdoor Passion play in the state of Ohio. Learn the significance and history of each accurately recreated set piece, including the Sanhedrin, the Via Dolo Rosa, and the tomb. Hear how the Living Word presents their interpretation of the Passion along with interesting facts such as the origin of the phrase the eye of the needle. The entire presentation takes place in front of a large photo representation of the beautiful 400 foot panoramic permanent set. Your group will feel as if they were sitting in the amphitheater! Available at various churches in the area. Allow 1 hour. A Christmas Carol Unwrapped Dressed in Victorian costume, Christopher Hart presents a brief history of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol. His delightful one-man presentation defines the meanings of many of the objects that were part of Dickens everyday life. Everyone from the casual reader to the avid Dickens fan will have their holiday season brightened by this new look at an old favorite. Available at various locations in the area. Allow 1 hour. Dickens Dollars These vouchers are available in denominations of $5.00 and can be used to purchase souvenirs, food & beverages at various locations in the area including the Dickens Welcome Center and the Georgetown Vineyards gift shop. The cost of the voucher can be added to the price of your tour and our costumed guide will present them to your passengers upon arrival. Voucher cost equals the face value of the voucher. Standard 1/20 comp policy applies for your driver & escort. GROUP DINING: Colonel Taylor Inn B&B Step back in time and enjoy lunch, dinner or a tea and tour of this 9,000 square foot Victorian mansion. Allow 1 1/2 hours for meals and tour. Theo s Restaurant Dine on a delicious traditional holiday buffet with all the trimming including mile-high homemade pies. Located in Historic Downtown Cambridge, lunch or dinner meals are available. Allow one hour. Francis Family Restaurant A NEW full-service restaurant with a variety of meal options, buffet or plated. Located on Wheeling Avenue near Kennedy s Bakery and the eastern end of the Dickens Displays. Allow one hour. Mr. Lee s Family Restaurant Family owned for many years, Mr. Lee s is a great place to dine for any group. A large banquet room is available for seating from 25-150. Located just east of Historic Downtown Cambridge on the National Road. Allow one hour. The Point Restaurant A local favorite, Where Friends Meet to Eat. Chef Teri loves to serve groups a traditional holiday buffet with all the trimmings. This family owned restaurant is located on the eastern edge of Historic Downtown Cambridge. Allow one hour.
