Expansion into Kentucky, then part of the Virginia Colony, came through the Cumberland Gap from the Virginia Colony. One of Kentucky s better known founders was Daniel Boone. He brought many settlers into Kentucky. Expansion also come into Kentucky from the North via the Ohio River. Lexington, Kentucky s second-largest city and the Horse Capital of the World located in the heart of Kentucky Bluegrass Region has a long history as a cultural, political and social center and today is characterized by beautiful residential neighborhoods, vital 19th-century commercial districts, and the tranquil rolling hills of renowned horse country. Lexington was first settled during the Revolutionary War, and was a small frontier post that grew rapidly into a regional trading center. Today the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky is well known for its horse farms, the world renowned Kentucky Horse Park, the famous Bourbon trail and Kentucky s contribution to the history of the Nation. We have planned for you what we like to call three H s History, Horses and Hooch tours. We will be stopping at Camp Nelson National Cemetery to honor one of our Civil War family members. From there we will stop at the Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill for lunch and tour. A River Boat trip on the Dixie Belle along a stretch of the Kentucky River Palisades. We will experience the sights, smells, and tastes of central Kentucky. Driving through the picturesque countryside, you will experience a private tour of one of our signature Thoroughbred horse farms. Then it s on the one of Kentucky s famous bourbon distilleries. Watch the masters at work and observe the art of bourbon making being practiced much as it was 200 years ago. Lunch will be enjoyed along the way. You will get a chance to enjoy the history, lore and little-known legends of some of Lexington s residents. 1 Reunion Schedule June 8, 2015 Registration 12:00 pm Meet and Greet Evening Dinner and Business Meeting.
