Around the Zocalo is the Presidential Palace (entrance is free), where you can admire the murals of Diego Rivera and Clemente Orozco. Around the corner from the Presidential Palace is the Plaza de las Tres Culturas (i.e., place of the three

cultures ), where you will find remains of old Aztec temples, above which the city cathedral (also located around the Zocalo) was built. A couple of blocks from there you will find the Latin- American Tower. Don t hesitate to take the elevator as high as possible to have a superb view of Mexico City. Having lunch (or at least coffee) inside the Casa de los Azulejos/Sanborns (House of Tiles) is a must. Be sure to go to the middle of the house (don t stay at the entrance), which is really beautiful. Other beautiful places to visit while in Mexico City include Chapultepec Park, where the historic Chapultepec Castle is located. Tel. :01 222 246 4612

http://www.colonial.com.mx/colonial/tarifa.htm E-mail: hotelcolonial@colonial.com.mx If you are planning to stay in another hotel, please search for information about the hotel on websites such as www.tripadvisor.com. There are cheaper hotels in Puebla City, but not all are located in safe neighborhoods. We highly recommend that you to do a thorough Google search before booking your hotel. If in doubt, please do not hesitate to send us an email at: bvallejo@uvt.nl Moving around Puebla: Please do not take taxis from the street. Ask at the lobby of the hotel for a taxi. The hotel will call a taxi site. Please do the same when you go to a restaurant or any public place. They will be happy to call a taxi for you from the closest taxi site. To further ensure that you enjoy your trip to Mexico, we would like to give you these other recommendations: Exchanging money: You can exchange money at the airport in Mexico City, or in Puebla in banks, exchange houses (casas de cambio), and hotels. You will need your foreign passport to exchange money. In Mexico, it is easier to exchange USD than EUR, particularly outside of Mexico City. The most convenient way to get MXN will be by withdrawing them from any ATM in the city. You can get MXN from most ATMs, up to a maximum of 6000MXN a day. Getting the 6000MXN in one transaction will reduce your transaction costs. Try to use ATMs located inside a restaurant, a hotel, a mall or a bank. As much as possible, avoid withdrawing money from ATMs in the street, particularly at night. Under no circumstance allow people to help you use an ATM. Most of the machines will automatically give you the instructions in English when they detect that your card is from a foreign bank. Walking at night: As much as possible, avoid walking alone at night, particularly on empty streets. Taxis are very cheap in Mexico, so we highly recommend that you move around by taxi (and request them at the venue). Displaying of money: Try not to show your money publicly. Since Mexico is a country with a high income disparity, it is unwise to show off how much money you have in your wallet. Please take advantage of the safe in your hotel to leave part of your money behind, as well as important

documents such as your passport. It is best not to carry all your money and documents with you at all times. Note: Use of soft drugs is illegal and not tolerated in Mexico. You will get into serious trouble if you transport or consume them in the country (no matter the amount). Finally, if you are planning to extend your trip to enjoy your holidays, please do not hesitate to contact us (bvallejo@uvt.nl) for advice, suggestions, or comments. Mexico is a beautiful country with a large variety of ecosystems. We are sure that you will have a great time discovering its wonders. Till soon, The organizing committee
