WHAT S NEW We have a full calendar of events ahead of us including our brand new Brindleyplace Family Festival, new charity partnerships and the ongoing investment and improvements to commercial buildings across the estate, there s certainly a lot to look forward to! Birmingham St. Mary s Hospice will be bringing another stunning installation of wrought iron forget-me-nots to Central Square in April to remember the lives of loved ones lost. The campaign not only looked beautiful but also raised an incredible 32,000 in 2017 and with your support, we re hoping to raise even more this year! On Saturday 16 June we re hosting the first Brindleyplace Family Festival with plenty of activities and entertainment throughout the day, including the annual Dragonboat Race where businesses from across the city take to the canal in traditional Chinese longboats to raise money for Cure Leukaemia; it s one not to be missed! LEISURE On 21 March, it will be exactly 20 years since the internationally acclaimed IKON gallery opened its doors to the public at Brindleyplace for the first time. To mark the occasion, Ikon will open two new exhibitions Internet Giants: Masters of the Universe, new and recent works by Langlands & Bell and Rie Nakajima s fusion on sculpture and sound, Cyclic. Ikon has made its mark on Brindleyplace over the years follow @Brindleyplace and @ikongallery to see how with 20 fun facts, including the time Ikon worked with 47 dachshund dogs! Ikon is a charity that relies on the generosity of patrons and visitors to fund its work and keep it free. To mark the 20th year, Ikon is fundraising to support the gallery s next 20 years with a 20 donation. FOOD DRINK + Veganism is a growing trend and, whether you re adopting a fulltime plant-based diet, making healthier lifestyle choices or looking for new #MeatFreeMonday options this year, we ve got you covered at Brindleyplace with new vegan menus at a number of our restaurants. CHARITY UPDATE We re incredibly proud to have a raised a record-breaking 150,000 for charity at Brindleyplace last year and will work with Cure Leukaemia and Birmingham St. Mary s Hospice again in 2018. This year we re also welcoming Buddy Bag Foundation, who provide backpacks full of essentials for children in emergency care, and The Royal Society for Blind Children as our charity partners We ll be partnering each with one of our events starting with the Brindleyplace Family Festival, sponsored by Deutsche Bank, which will raise funds for Cure Leukaemia for the fourth year while The Royal Society for Blind Children will partner the outdoor Film Festival this summer, Buddy Bag Foundation will be fundraising at the Chilli Festival and activity at Chocival will support Birmingham St. Mary s Hospice once again. BUSINESS Things are changing in Oozells Square with the 4 million refurbishment of the Oozells Building, formerly Nine Brindleyplace, now well underway. Office space is being upgraded alongside the common areas and reception and a new roof terrace will be unveiled on the 4th floor when work completes later this year. SPORT IN THE CITY Birmingham is already a city associated with high profile events. Over the next few months these include the Spar British Athletics Indoor Championships, where the country s best athletes will compete for the title of British Champion and a place on the British Athletics team ahead of the IAAF World Indoor Championships from 1-4 March, both at Arena Birmingham just across the canal from us! As a national supplier for IAAF, some of the 150 athletes, media and entourage will be calling Brindleyplace home for the weekend and we ll have live music and activities to keep them (and you) entertained between each sporting session. After the IAAF there s more national sporting events at Arena Birmingham with the Yonex All England Badminton Championships from 14 18 March and the 2018 Gymnastics World Cup from 21 22 March get your tickets and make a day of it at Brindleyplace! Elsewhere in the city there s cricket, tennis and the Simplyhealth Great Birmingham 10k on 6 May, not to mention the 2018 Fifa World Cup which kicks off on 14 June. We ll be getting into the match spirit at the Brindleyplace Family Festival on 16 June with a collaboration with Birmingham City Football Club.
