A MESSAGE FROM JIMMY BARTZ Secretly, I love the New Year s reset. I say secretly because I m not unaware of the failure rate for New Year s resolutions. In fact, I ve pretty regularly failed at maintaining my resolve. No matter. I still love the fresh start. As people of faith, we can have a fresh start whenever we want, but it s nice when it coincides with the calendar. What exactly is it that we are starting over, though? Here s what I think. You ve heard me say before that I believe, we re children, chosen and marked by God s love, the delight of God s life. Maybe you ve heard it more than once. Maybe you ve heard it more than you d like! That line comes from a particular translation from the story of Jesus baptism. And, I love it. I love it, love it, love it. I feel like we get to start THAT over. We get to start over really living into this reality that we re God s children, chosen and marked by God s love, the delight of God s life. Be it resolved, 2018, I m going to live into what I am a child, chosen and marked by God s love, the delight of God s life. I m sure I won t be completely successful there. No matter. I m not looking for success. I m just looking for the experience itself. Would you join me in this resolve? Love, Jimmy
