Platform for growth & opportunities 19 > 21 NOVEMBER 2015 BRAZZAVILLE INTERNATIONAL FORUM FOR INVESTMENTS IN CONGO

DENIS SASSOU-N GUESSO PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO Together we will succeed! In perfect harmony with its people, my country s government is moving irreversibly along the road to sustained growth and towards emergence, thanks to the climate of peace which strengthens with every passing day and to the development which is taking place across the country. Our daring battle for basic business infrastructure is now giving us the opportunity to witness the coming together of all departments and the unification of the entire country. Our country s modernisation is in full swing. All conditions for diversifying the economy have been fulfilled. The process of industrialisation is accelerating through the promotion of the private sector and investments. I welcome this initiative, which is a positive contribution to the effort the Congo is making in order to achieve emergence by 2025. I thank in advance all the investors who are coming to the Congo to take part in this important event at a time when Africa is increasingly presenting itself as the continent of the future. May the upcoming Brazzaville Forum deliver what it has promised and meet our expectations. President of the Republic Denis SASSOU-N GUESSO In this context, November s Invest in Congo in 2015 Forum will be a significant link in the chain that will allow the Congo to transform its comparative advantages into competitive advantages. ICB 2015 is a must attend event for industrial and financial players from across Africa and the entire world to discover the considerable investment opportunities in the country. Join them to discover and share the Congo s desire for modernity. OIL AND HYDROCARBONS Over $18bn of investments have been made in flagship oilfield (Moho) and oil sands (Congo basin) operation projects. MINES Copper, potassium, phosphate and uranium are just some of the minerals found in abundance in the Congo. The Zanaga, Nabemba and Avima iron projects will raise around $10bn. AGRICULTURE AND AGRO-INDUSTRY The country s geographic position astride the equator allows subsistence and fruit crops to be grown all year round. The Congo basin features a dense hydrographic network and offers significant potential for catching and farming fish, particularly rare species. A number of projects to modernise operations and to boost industrialisation mean that average growth of 11% per year is anticipated. 7 PROMISING INDUSTRIES FORESTRY AND THE WOOD INDUSTRY The strong growth in local and regional demand for construction materials offers new opportunities for forest operations. The forestry code promotes sustainable management of the 12.8m hectares marked for forest operation and the establishment of waste conversion and re-use industries. BUILDINGS AND PUBLIC WORKS Materials, metal industries, construction and service companies: demand is rapidly increasing as a result of the many building projects under way in the Congo and in neighbouring countries. TOURISM AND THE HOTEL INDUSTRY The country is full of natural sites which are favourable to green tourism, including Loufoulakari Falls, Lake Nanga, the waterfalls on the Djoué, as well as the Brazzaville and Pointe Noire leisure parks. An investment programme provides for site development, staff training, and promotion of the destination. FINANCIAL SERVICES Built around profitable, modern and strong banks, the Congolese financial sector is set to move into several fields, including insurance, business banking, investment banking and capital markets.
