Set your sights high this spring! Get close to nature with this unique, entirely customized and carefree tour of Switzerland s wondrous mountains, blended cultural sightseeing and European cuisine with time at leisure to make the most of your experience. This scenic landlocked country in central Europe has borders with France to the west, Italy to the south, Austria and Liechtenstein to the east and Germany to the north. Switzerland is known for its mountains, but it also has a central plateau of rolling hills, plains and large lakes. This specially designed tour will allow you to experience farms, cities, villages, Swiss cuisine, mountains, scenic trains, boat rides, deluxe lodging and more; all orchestrated for a shared enrichment with fellow travelers. Expert guides await your arrival to showcase spectacular panoramic scenery this spring. FRANCE LAUSANNE Round-trip transfers to Chicago O Hare Round-trip international airfare to Zurich, Switzerland 8 nights lodging 18 meals (8-B, 6-L & 4-D) Services of a local and professional English speaking Swiss guide throughout All required motorcoach transportation All required rail tickets All sightseeing as listed First State Bank escort Desi Ozburn All Baggage Handling throughout at hotels Gratuities for drivers and guides GENEVA MONTREUX GSTAAD BERN ZURICH ITALY LUCERNE INTERLAKEN ZERMATT GERMANY AUSTRIA SWITZERLAND LUGANO DAY 1: Wednesday, April 22: Chicago - Zurich, Switzerland Today, transfer via private coach travel to Chicago O Hare International Airport for your non-stop international overnight flight aboard Swiss Air to Zurich, Switzerland. Meals will be provided on your flight along with personal entertainment system. DAY 2: Thursday, April 23: Zurich - Bern - Montreux After clearing Customs and collecting our luggage, we will meet our local Swiss guide to begin this wonderful adventure through the countryside of Switzerland. After a short drive, we will arrive into the town of Bern. Not many cities have managed to retain their historic features quite as successfully as Bern, (or Berne) the capital of Switzerland. The old town of Bern is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we will have an included lunch and a bit a free time. Afterwards, our private coach continues on to Montreux where we have a brief Lay Of The Land walking tour in the area surrounding our hotel. Later check into our hotel for a four-night stay. This evening, join your fellow travelers for a Welcome Dinner. L, D DAY 3: Friday, April 24: Montreux - Oberland Bernois Railway - Gstaad - Gruyeres After breakfast, our local guide will host a city tour by coach of Montreux and Vevey. Afterwards, we board the Montreux Oberland Bernois scenic train for a ride from Montreux to Gstaad. The MOB railway operates in southwest Switzerland, and is one of the oldest electric railways in the country. In the past years the centre of Gstaad has developed into the most popular and shortest shopping street in Switzerland. With its top hotels, gourmet restaurants, and luxury chalets, the car-free resort of Gstaad is a popular destination for international visitors. Later it s back on the coach to Gruyeres to visit this quaint village. The historical town of Gruyeres, Greyerz in German, has preserved its Medieval character up until today. The old comital residence lies on a hill above the River Saane. The castle, which dates back to the 13th century, is today a museum depicting 800 years of regional architecture, history and culture. Lunch is

included in Gruyere. Our final stop will be at a local chocolate factory to see how the famous Swiss Chocolate is produced before driving back to Montreux for a free evening and dinner on your own. B, L DAY 4: Saturday, April 25: Chateau de Chillon - Geneva - Vineyards of Lavaux After breakfast, we travel to Geneva with our guide to visit Chillon Castle, an architectural jewel located in the most beautiful setting imaginable - on the shores of Lake Geneva, right at the foot of the Alps. This landmark with over 1,000 years of history has inspired artists and writers, from JeanJacques Rousseau to Victor Hugo and Lord Byron, from Delacroix to Courbet. Visiting the Castle of Chillon is like going back in time! Each hall or room unveils a part of the castle s history. Modern means enable us to better understand the daily life of the Court of Savoy and the Bernese bailiffs. Afterwards we have a tour of Geneva with free time for individual sightseeing and lunch on your own. Later it s on to the rolling vineyards to enjoy wine tasting and included dinner in the Lavaux region before going back to our hotel in Montreux. B, D DAY 5: Sunday, April 26: Zermatt Train - Matterhorn What a fabulous day ahead of us! Take the coach from Montreux, followed by a short but scenic train from Tasch to the amazing village of Zermatt. Arriving by train is convenient, and the trip is beautiful, going through the deepest cleft valley in Switzerland. To the left and right are the highest mountains in Switzerland, including the Täschhorn, Dom and Weisshorn. Zermatt is a pedestrian-friendly town and is the gourmet capital of the Alps. From simple fare in cozy mountain restaurants to haute cuisine with an international flavour, the choices are vast and the welcome is legendary. No wonder the same question keeps cropping up: why don t we stop for a bite? This afternoon, lunch will be included in Zermatt with free time to explore your way through this town. Individuals may go on an optional basis up to the Matterhorn at various levels depending on your own ability, or just take in the magnificent sights of the Alps. Later it s back on the train to Tasch, where our coach awaits for our drive back to Montreux for a relaxing evening and dinner on your own. B, L DAY 6: Monday, April 27: Bernese Oberland Sights Lucerne, Switzerland After breakfast we will depart Montreux for Lucerne, via the Bernese Oberland. This excursion includes snow-capped mountains and emerald-green lakes along with picturesque towns and romantic villages. Explore the beautiful Bernese Oberland in all its scenic splendour. Stops will be made in Interlaken, Grindelwald and Brienz. Lunch is included along the way. Later we will arrive into the enjoyable city of Lucerne for a four-night stay in a centrally located hotel. A lovely dinner at the hotel is included this evening. B, L, D DAY 7: Tuesday, April 28: Lucerne - Alberswil Burgrain Agro Museum After breakfast, enjoy a city walking tour of Lucerne with your local guide. The lively streets, hidden treasures and beautiful façades of Lucerne s medieval buildings form the perfect setting for a guided city tour. No matter if you explore the city on foot or while riding in a horse-drawn carriage, a tour through Lucerne is unforgettable! Later, it s off to the countryside of Burgrain to visit the Swiss Agricultural Museum, Agromuseum. This visit will be combined with the Swiss Farmers Union to learn about the

agricultural history and aspects of farming in Switzerland with an included lunch. Our private coach will take us back to Lucerne where we have several charming restaurants to choose from for dinner on your own. B, L DAY 8: Wednesday, April 29: Lugano, Switzerland - Lake Lugano - Gandria After breakfast, we will board the The Wilhelm Tell Express Train for a 2 ½ hour journey through the Alps to Lugano, Switzerland. Thanks to its location south of the Alps, giving it a milder climate than most of Switzerland, Lugano is a popular holiday destination, and visitors receive a warm welcome. Lugano is in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. A regional specialty lunch of veal Saltimbocca and risotto will be included. This afternoon, we explore this scenic destination aboard our private sightseeing boat on Lake Lugano with a stop in the village of Gandria. Later we return to our hotel in Lucerne by motorcoach for a relaxing evening and dinner on your own. B, L DAY 9: Thursday, April 30: Mt. Stanserhorn Local Folklore Dinner After breakfast, we have a full day of incredible sights. We will board a private boat from Lucerne to Stansstad on Lake Lucerne. After this scenic boat cruise we travel by coach to Stans for an incredible journey to the summit of Mt. Stanserhorn for sightseeing and lunch on your own. Located on the north side of the Swiss Alps, the height of Mt. Stanserhorn is 1,898 meters above sea level. Overlooking Lake Lucerne, the view from Mt. Stanserhorn provides a unique panoramic view of the Swiss Alps. There are higher mountains near Mt. Stanserhorn like Mt. Pilatus and Mt. Titlis, but none of them provide a great 360 stunning panorama! An old nostalgic funicular and a one of a kind Cabrio Cable Car offer unique transport to the top of Mt. Stanserhorn. The first section of the ride to the top of Mt. Stanserhorn is done by this very old funicular with its wooden cars, built in 1893. Since July 29, 2012, the brand new and world s first Cabrio Cable Car takes passengers for a ride on the second section. It s really amazing to feel the wind in your face when approaching the top of Mt. Stanserhorn! What a contrast when the time traveler first rides that old funicular and then the ultra high tech Cabrio Cable Car! This evening, a farewell dinner and folkloric show is planned at the Stadtkellar Restaurant. Our group will be thoroughly entertained by the musicians and you will be served a delectable Swiss dinner. Our last overnight is in Lucerne. B, D DAY 10: Friday, May 1: Return Flight Home After breakfast, our coach transfers us to the Zurich Airport where we will board Swiss Air for our non-stop flight back to Chicago with wonderful memories of this amazing Swiss Vacation.
