DAY 1: USA / COSTA RICA (Saturday) Fly to Costa Rica. Bienvenidos a Costa Rica! Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your local Forum Tour Manager who will remain with your group for the duration of your tour. Transfer by private motor coach to Alajuela, a small village 18 miles northwest of San José. Check in at your hotel Rancho Lodge (or similar) followed by a welcome fruit cocktail and dinner. DAY 2: SAN JOSÉ (Sunday) After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, head to San Jose for a guided city tour. See some of the most popular attractions such as the Plaza de la Cultura (the Main Square & focal point) and Plaza de Democracia (the famous flea market) practice your Spanish by bargaining with the local vendors. Learn to cook like a local - partake in a cooking class in La Guácima and discover diverse local ingredients and delicious traditional dishes. Enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation at El Rancho Lodge (or similar). DAY 3: SAN JOSÉ/ POAS VOLCANO (Monday) This morning, visit a public school and connect with local students as you learn about their school day and daily life. Lunch at a local restaurant. Visit a coffee plantation. Located along the fertile slopes of the Poás Volcano, Doka Estate has been growing and roasting award-winning coffee for three generations. This tour allows visitors to gain an intimate understanding of how coffee is grown, harvested, processed and produced. Dinner and overnight accommodation at El Rancho Lodge (or similar). DAY 4: SAN JOSÉ/ ARENAL Today, discover Costa Rica s largest network of naturally flowing thermal springs in Arenal s largest and most beautiful rain forest reserve. Tabacon is flanked by the beautiful Arenal Volcano at one end, and the Arenal Volcano National Park on the other. The road to the reserve literally takes you to the heart of the jungle, so expect the sounds and sights of nature to flood your senses. Enjoy a hot bath in Tabacon Hot Springs. A favorite of both locals and visitors alike, Los Laureles is the perfect place to relax in nature. Dinner and overnight accommodation at La Pradera Hotel (or similar). DAY 5: ZIP LINE TOUR / MONTEVERDE Breakfast at your hotel. This morning, fly across the rain forest canopy via one of the most exhilarating forms of jungle transportation: the zip line!
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Transfer to Monteverde, famous for its incredible cloud forest. Dinner and overnight accommodations at Los Cipreses (or similar). DAY 6: VOLUNTEER SERVICE / JACO After breakfast, volunteer in Monteverde and learn what it s like to be an ecologist. You will spend the day as a tropical field ecologist, learning how to collect data on birds, flora and fauna; you will also visit a farm and help the local community. This afternoon, make a stop at the Tarcoles River Bridge, one of the most well-known rivers in the country. Dinner and night accommodation at Bejuco Hotel (or similar). DAY 7: MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK After breakfast at your hotel, head out to explore Costa Rica s most biologically diverse national park: Manuel Antonio National Park. Although it is Costa Rica s smallest national park, the breathtaking beauty and diversity of wildlife is unparalleled. Have a packed picnic lunch while taking a break from hiking at the park. Dinner and night accommodation at El Rancho Lodge or similar. DAY 8: DEPART After breakfast at your hotel, board your private motor coach and transfer to the airport to catch your flight back home!
