Labor Day Recap Labor Day was fun-filled including a Horse Shoe Hunt and a Poker Run! Riders searched for prize horseshoes hidden on the trails, which were good for (Gold) 1 free night with 1 paid, (Silver) Dinner for 2, and 3rd (Bronze) T-Shirt or Hat at the Hitchin Post. Natural horseshoes fetched a hand-dipped ice cream cone from the Hitchin Post. The Poker Run rewarded 1st Place with $62.50 for the winning hand. 2nd Place won $37.50. And, 3rd Place took $25.00. Appetites were healthy as the campers enjoyed a wonderful pork steak dinner! After dinner, Terry Plaia sang some boot-scootin songs and Terry Carroll scooted his boots with all the girls!

Bob Burns Memorial Trail Ride Recap We were proud to host the Bob Burns Memorial Trail Ride that was sponsored by the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Assosciation, Inc. The ride is in honor of Bob Burns who passed away 7 years ago. Bob was an avid trail rider and was very active in all horse activities in and around Ava, MO. Bob served as president of the Douglas County Fox Trotters for several years. He was also a founding member and Trail Master of the Mountain Riders Chapter of the Back Country Horsemen and an active member of the MFTH- BA. Nineteen riders enjoyed a warm, fall morning on Friday, while 29 riders rode out on Saturday morning for a breathtaking 4-hour ride. Members of the MFTHBA, along with other equestrians, enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Lodge. The Flying R staff enjoyed meeting all the new riders as well as treasured friends from prior stays.
