Mangroove: Mangrove Eco- Tourism and Community Empowerment SWOT ANAYSIS FOR SITE SELECTION Strength Weakness Opportuni@es Threats 2 Resorts nearby. Large areas of Mangrove sites, slowly deple9ng in size over the years due to increasing housing developments. Soil erosion. Locals in the community have difficul9es looking for well paying jobs in the rural part of Batam, far and inconvenient to travel to town. More revenues coming from resorts (youths & families) Work with resorts, to borrow boats for ac9vi9es. Higher risk of disaster impact. Loss of biodiversity Locals feeling solastagia (strong auachment to natural environment) Vulnerable Affect tourism in the future.

Promote eco- tourism to educate tourists and create more jobs for the locals. 3. Give back the natural environment and its protec9on to the local community.

Mangroove: Mangrove Eco- Tourism and Community Empowerment STRATEGIES - Educate and raise awareness of the importance of preserving the natural mangrove sites. - Create ac9vi9es such as mangrove eco adventure trail, boat rides into mangrove forest, mangrove nursery, blue agriculture, for tourists (youths & families)

Mangroove: Mangrove Eco- Tourism and Community Empowerment SUSTAINABILITY - Locals are educated on the importance of the mangrove habitat and con9nue educa9ng others, empowering others. - Hire few English speaking locals as tour guides to beuer converse with tourists. - Locals to work together closely with local NGOs, ferry terminal and resorts. - Resorts could serve as support in providing free transporta9ons (land/sea) from resorts to eco site (vice- versa)
