R-Flex, Flexitank for 40ft Reefer Containers Instructions Manual 1

Container Selection... Ensure that the below conditions are obtained. Reefer Container is no older than 5 years. Reefer Container is in excellent condition. No damage on the floor. Free of odor. The floor is swept carefully with a broom. Nails and other sharp objects are removed from the floor and the sides of the container. Potential uneven areas on the floor are covered with fabric tape. Nails and other objects that may damage/puncture the R- flex should be removed or covered with fabric tape. 2

Contents of the box... Open the R-flex box and ensure that the followings are in the package: 1. R-Flex 2. 2 pieces of floor lashing buckles 3. 2 pieces of metallic buckles 4. Warning labels 5. Corrugated plastic board 6. Lining material 3

Lining... Cover sharp edges and damaged areas on the grid with adhesive tape. 4

Lining... Nails and other sharp objects are removed from the floor and the sides of the container. 5

Lining... Cover the reinforcement / kickboard area on both side walls as seen below. Ensure all edges are fully covered by tape. Ensure any remaining rough edges, joins, screws, surfaces are adequately protected by thick tape. 6

Lining... While the flexible harness prevents any flexitank movement, the flexitank carton should be collapsed and used as protection from any sharp objects on the nose side of the container. 7

Lining... 8

Lining... Place the supplied PP material. Ensure that the smooth surface is facing up. Ensure there is a gap of 150mm at the front to allow optimal air circulation. Secure the lining in place with strong tape that will withstand the reefer operation and temperatures. 9

Fitting... Unroll the R-flex in the container. Make sure not to step on the R-flex while unfolding. No hard shoes during the fitting operation. 10

Fitting... Ensure that the front of R-Flex is leaning to the front/nose of the container. DO NOT remove the pre-folding tapes shown with arrows! DO NOT open the folds! Open out the folded two door side of the R-Flex in order to reveal the valve. 11

R-Flex 40ft Flexible Harness... R-flex must be fastened on door side to the lashing rings or buckles in the container to avoid sliding towards to door. Valve Harnessing Belts rev03-140619 12

Buckling 1. Make a small cut on fitting fabric to pick out the lashing ring or buckle. 2. There are two free end of belts on each side, take the one which comes from under the R-Flex. 3. Pass the belt through the lashing ring or buckle. 4. Put the free end of belts over R-Flex. 13

Floor Lashing Buckles If the reefer container does not have any appropriate lashing points, use the provided buckles in the box. Fix the floor lashing buckles 150cm away from doors. 14

Buckling There are two free end of the belts on each side of the R-Flex. Follow the steps 1-2-3-4 for the belt at the top. Follow the steps 5-6-7-8 for the other belt. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 15

Buckle Location Ensure that both of the buckles are clear off the side wall. Buckle trapped between flexitank and wall 16

Filling... We have 2 or 3 inch valve alternatives. According to your preference you will need to have a female camlock connector. 17

Filling... Couple the hose, ensure that there is no pressure on the valve. Open the valve. Ready for filling. Start filling with 300lt/minute speed. After approximetely 3000lt, you may speed up to 1000lt/minute. 18

Filling... When the loading is completed; 1. Close the valve. 2. Remove the hose. 3. Fasten the cap. 1 2 3 19

Bonnet Closure... R-flex has two protective plastic protectors «bonnet» around the inlet to prevent contamination and to act as secondary containment in case of an incident. Ensure that Bonnet is well tied according to our instructions. rev03-140619 20

Bonnet Closure... 1 2 3 4 5 6 The Protective Bonnet has two individual layers of plastic film. Both layers must be tied separately. 1. Push the outer bonnet back to expose the inner bonnet. 2. Twist the full length of the inner bonnet so that it is long and thin 3. Knot it tightly minimizing the free space above the fitting. 4. Unroll & extend the outer bonnet. 5. Twist and wrap the outer bonnet. 6. Knot it tightly minimizing the free space above the fitting. 21

Lashing Before sealing the container doors, tighten both lashing straps. It is highly recommended that put a piece of cardboard between metallic buckle and flexitank for extra protection. 22

Lashing Ensure that straps must be passed through the metallic buckles properly. 23

Labels Stick to both left and right side walls. Stick to the right door. 24

Warning... IMPROPER FITTING MAY CAUSE CAPACITY PROBLEMS, INNER LAYERS MAY GET STUCK AND STRETCH. THIS MAY CAUSE SEVERE LEAKINGS. IF FITTING OPERATION HAS BEEN PERFORMED AT ANOTHER LOCATION OTHER THAN THE FILLING SITE, PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE R-FLEX HAS NOT MOVED DURING LOCAL TRANSPORTATION. rev03-140619 25
