Map Pinning Directions Materials Glue Scissors Corkboard or corrugated cardboard Long sewing push pins Prepare the Flags Cut out each set of flags. Fold on the dotted line. Wrap around a push pin and glue together. Allow time to dry. Store them in a tupperware. There are 3 flag sets in this download. The flag sets are color coded. USA State Flags are green. USA Landmark Flags are orange. USA State Capitals are blue. Prepare the Map You can laminate these maps to make them more durable and reusable, however, they are a little more difficult to pin. I find it works best to just use the paper map and print extra copies as needed. Set the map over the corkboard or a piece of corrugated cardboard so you can push the pins into it. Map Pinning Enjoy learning geography by pinning each flag into the correct location on the map. Use a timer for added challenge and encourage your student to beat their time. For the State Capital flags and Landmark Flags, have your student turn all the flags so that the state names are face down. Try to pin each capital or landmark flag without looking at the state name. See how many they can do by memory. The more they practice the more they will remember. If they can t remember then flip it over to look at the state name. **Answer Key Included
