Day 1 Monday, April 6 Group #1 3:00am Call Time at EDHS 4:00am Depart EDHS for LAX 5:30am Group #1 - Arrive Los Angeles Airport for flight check in. 8:00am Group #1 American Airlines #31 scheduled to depart for Honolulu. Meals available for purchase (debit or credit card only). 11:00am Group #1 scheduled arrival time in Honolulu. Upon arrival at Honolulu Airport, you will be met in baggage claim, presented with the traditional Lei Greeting of Aloha and escorted through baggage to board your bus for the short ride into Waikiki. (Please note that you will need to pull your bag/instrument from carousel but will not be carrying to bus. They will be transferred by truck to the hotel. This process can take some time, so please be patient). Group #2 4:15am - Call Time at EDHS 5:15am Depart EDHS for LAX 6:45am Group #2 Arrive Los Angeles Airport for flight check-in 9:55am Group #2 American Airlines #283 scheduled to depart for Honolulu. 3:00pm Hotel check-in and security briefing. Dinner on your own this evening 8:30pm Director s meeting and reception. Day 2 Tuesday, April 7 7:00am Walking departure for breakfast, Check in with your chaperone. 7:15am Buffet breakfast at Shorebird 9:00am Competition begins at the Kapiolani Bandstand. If applicable, your instrument truck will be at the park at 8:30am. Participants will be walking to/from hotel and Kapiolani Park. 12:00pm Hawaii Invitational pizza in the park for lunch today during competition. Jazz Band Jam Session during lunch join the fun! Afternoon free for shopping and the beach. Early dinner on your own. 6:00pm Parade Rehearsal at Kapiolani Park. Day 3 Wednesday, April 8 7:30am Walking departure for breakfast, Check in with your chaperone. 7:45am Buffet breakfast at Shore Bird 11:00am Buses depart for Aloha Stadium Swap Meet Lunch will be on your own along with shopping time at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet and Marketplace. Admission is $1 and is not included in tour cost. 1:45pm Buses depart Aloha Stadium 2:15pm Buses return to hotel. 4:45pm Instrument truck at Ft. DeRussy.
5:00pm Buses depart for parade line-up at 6:00pm. Salute to Youth Parade steps off at 6:30pm on Kalakaua Avenue at Ft. DeRussy, ending at Kapiolani Park. Following the parade, board your buses for return to hotel. Only students in parade and assisting adults will board buses spectators should walk to the viewing area in front of the Royal Hawaiian Center. Dinner on own following the parade. Day 4 Thursday, April 9 6:45am Walking departure for breakfast, Check in with your chaperone. 7:00am Buffet breakfast at Shore Bird Morning free for shopping and the Beach. Early lunch on your own 12:30pm Bus departs for Pearl Harbor and the City of Honolulu tour. While at Pearl Harbor you will visit the USS Arizona Memorial. On the Honolulu City tour you will see Iolani Palace (the only royal palace on US soil), the famous statue of King Kamehameha, the Capital Building, Chinatown and other places of historical interest in Honolulu. 3:00pm Timed entry into theater followed by launch to the USS Arizona Memorial. Please be in line as instructed at 2:45pm Please note: No personal items should be brought on tour, purses, backpacks, shopping bags, large camera cases are not allowed at Pearl Harbor for security reasons and the bus company will not accept liability for any personal items left on the bus. 4:30pm Buses return to hotel. Dinner on your own this evening. Day 5 Friday, April 10 6:45am Walking departure for breakfast, Check in with your chaperone. 7:00am Buffet breakfast at Shore Bird 9:30am Buses departs hotel for Diamond Head Hike 12:00pm Buses return to hotel Afternoon free for shopping or beach. 4:30pm Bus departs hotel to Kailua High School for the final competitions, dinner, exhibition, awards ceremony and dance. Late return to hotel (approximate departure time from high school is 10:15pm). 11:00pm - Room Check, Lights out. Day 6 Saturday, April 11 6:15am Walking departure for breakfast, Check in with your chaperone. 6:30am Buffet breakfast at Shore Bird Morning & afternoon free for shopping and Beach. Lunch on your own. 3:30pm Buses depart for the Paradise Cove Luau 9:45pm Approximate return time to hotel. 11:00pm - Room Check, Lights out. Day 7 Sunday, April 12 6:15am Walking departure for breakfast, Check in with your chaperone. 6:30am Buffet breakfast at Shore Bird 7:30am Bag pull. Please place all suitcases on the floor inside the door of your room. Anything you will take with you on the plane (carry-ons, backpacks, purses, etc.) should be placed on the bed. This will let the porters know not to take them. 8:45am Check-out of the hotel. Please return keys and pay for any incidentals you may have. Report any damage to the front desk prior to departure. Group #2 9:00am Group #2 Bus departs hotel for Honolulu Airport When you arrive at the airport, you must claim your luggage and instruments for inspection by the US Agriculture Dept. Once your bags/instruments have cleared inspection you will proceed to the check-in counter to get your boarding passes. All bags must also be cleared by the US Transportation Security Administration prior to receiving your boarding passes. 12:35pm Group #2 American Airlines #162 scheduled to depart for Los Angeles. Once your bags/instruments have cleared inspection you will proceed to the check-in counter to get your boarding passes.
