Municipal Water Use Public service company of Colorado's Tacoma Hydro project has portions of it's project crossing federal lands. Non Motorized This area is close to Durango and has great areas for non - motorized uses both winter & summer. Tamarron Resort is one of the last good wildlife corridors in the Animas Valley. Forest access for winter & summertime motorized use. Pleasure Drive On Main roads. This is my main use, Photography Pleasure Drive It is the gateway to the most famous part of the SJ Mountains remain accessible by car. Pleasure Drive Traditional Uses Animas Valley has always been an attraction for tourists from Urban areas to escape development and view a country setting & wildlife. River Running The Dolores River below McPhee is a river that should be restored and the riparian landscape restored and maintained as a prime recreation and wildlife resource. Pleasure Drive Access from Durango by roads for pleasure driving is easiest. Snowmobiling The Haycamp - Lost Canyon - Pole Spring- Windy Gap- Spruce Mill areas all encompassing. Bother summer & winter. Perins Peak SWA is protected for wildlife habitat. Animas Mnt. & Perins Peak & Surrounding BLM lands are very important for wildlife habitat especially in the winter. Wildlife Corridor Wildlife habitat, - Big game WR, Cliff nesting Raptors, songbirds, bats. DOW considers Perins Peak a critical winter habitat area, particularly since the loss of Ridges Basin. Grazed for up to 30 days early and then cattle move up. Excellent grazing Cattle are good on this landscape, very beneficial. Excellent Spring Range improve. Many good trails for hiking and biking. This is a roadless area with many Archaeological sites, mostly unidentified or studied, and many old growth areas. Everyone must get along and work together Multiple uses except oil & gas. emphasis, limit wildlife numbers. Great motorized and non motorized trails. Nature Observation This is an outstanding area to hike & observe wildlife from Horned Lizards to birds of Prey. Non Motorized All areas of the HD's that are currently roadless should remain Roadless.
