In Japanese-style moon viewing, people display silver grass, rice dumplings, taro, green soybean, chestnuts and Japanese sake as offerings to the moon. This year, Jugoya will be the first full-moon night in six years! It is called the Mid-Autumn Festival, the day to celebrate the autumn harvest. In Nankinmachi (Kobe's Chinatown), the festival will be held and visitors will be entertained by many fun events, such as Chinese dances, t'aichi, and lion dances. Moon cake, or geppei, will be sold at the venue (the cake has a round shape like a full moon). Why don't you come and enjoy this bustling Chinese festival?

[Youths from Russia and Korea come to Hyogo!] Youth exchange programs in summer held as scheduled ~Exchange of smiles, blowing harmful rumors away~ As part of their summer vacation activities, a youth soccer team from Korea, a youth exchange delegation and a youth sports team from Khabarovsk visited Hyogo in August as scheduled. They enjoyed communicating with Japanese boys and girls, as well as the beautiful natural environment and delicious foods in Hyogo. (Aug. 3~7, Perth, Western Australia) This year marks the 30 th anniversary of the establishment of the sister-state relationship between Hyogo and Western Australia (WA). To commemorate this, four koalas were presented from WA to Awaji Farm Park in March. In August, the Hyogo friendship delegation, led by Governor Ido, visited WA. During this tour, the Joint Statement was signed to further promote exchange between the two regions. The Hyogo seminar was another big event there.
