BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN LATIN AMERICA Transportation services in Colombia represented 4,23% of the GDP in 2013; of which 72% represents land transportation. Colombia is to become Latin America s hub due to the fact that it is the third largest market in the region. Investment in 2013 was: Colombia is mainly an importer of automotive technology: USD $ 47,706,904 million in 2011. In Colombia 100% of the vehicles come from abroad: 34% assembled in Colombia 66% imported as a finished product Colombia's fleet of mass transportation vehicles is renewed every 7 years and has more than 205.000 units. Manages, organizes and plans urban public passenger transportation service in Bogotá and its surrounding areas. 2. Transmilenio plans and structures an integrated public transportation system in Bogotá and once it is implemented it will achieve more than 6.2 million trips per day. 3. Transmilenio currently counts on 137 bus stations, 1379 articulated buses, 230 biarticulated buses and 88 buses. 4. Mobilizes approximately 2,2 million passengers a day; covering 30% of the demand for public transportation in Bogota and it is expected to keep growing.
