Who we are Profil DFS Aviation Services GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, the organisation that, in one form or another, has been responsible for controlling air traffic in Germany for the past sixty years. Today, DFS manages one of the most complex airspaces in the world with more than 10,000 flights per day. Four DFS control centres handle three million aircraft movements per year above Germany. In addition, DFS is responsible for the control of air traffic at the country s 16 designated international airports. DFS Aviation Services, in turn, provides air traffic control at nine regional airports in Germany, and through its UK subsidiary, it is also responsible for the provision of air traffic control at London Gatwick, the busiest single runway airport in the world. Every year, 2.4 million take-offs and landings at 25 airports are conducted under the Group s watch in Germany and abroad. The core business of DFS Aviation Services consists of air navigation services as a certified ANSP in Germany and the UK, as well as a selection of products and services related to air navigation services available worldwide, backed by the expertise of DFS as our parent company. We are a young, dynamic company with a lean structure that can offer you a comprehensive range of services. We are backed by the DFS Group s years of experience and can draw on the technical and operational expertise of our parent company, the largest ANSP in Europe and one of the largest and most advanced ANSPs worldwide. This combination allows us to deliver the value for money and quality you need. DFS Aviation Services offers bespoke air navigation systems and related services to air navigation service providers, airports, airlines and supervisory authorities across the globe. Portfolio Airports Tower & approach En-route Technical services and support systems for CNS Air traffic management strategies Safety management Data services & provision Training 3

Our areas of expertise Airports Airports are highly complex entities that require more than just modern and efficient aerodrome control to ensure smooth operations. The processes on the ground, in the air and in the control tower have to be closely interlinked and require excellent coordination. The DFS Group has a broad base of expertise ranging from the provision of apron management services and slot monitoring to Total Airport Management (TAM). DFS Aviation Services has successfully optimised the processes at numerous airports by working out and implementing well-designed concepts. These and other services put in place by the company have demonstrated their value over many years. We look forward to your inquiries about: Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) & Total Airport Management (TAM) Apron management services Concepts for operations and infrastructure Operational readiness, activation and transition programme (ORAT) Capacity studies Airport slot monitoring 4

To ensure smooth operations, you need more than modern and efficient aerodrome control services. Tower & approach Every airport has its own unique challenges and needs. The DFS Group is responsible for providing air traffic control at a significant number of airports, each with its own distinct conditions. These airports range from small regional airports (DFS Aviation Services) to London Gatwick Airport (ANS Ltd.), the busiest single runway airport in the world, and to the international hub of Frankfurt with half a million take-offs and landings per year (DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung). As our customer, you can take advantage of our broad expertise as an air navigation service provider as well as our wide range of products, services and expertise for aerodrome control at small, medium-sized and large airports. You can benefit from our specialist support in: Provision of aerodrome and approach control services Flight information services, alerting services and meteorological services Tower systems (Tower Suite) Remote tower concepts (RTC) Procedure planning and simulations Studies concerning placement, erection and equipment of control towers General operational concepts Planning of approach and departure procedures Arrival manager (A-MAN) 5

En-route Every third flight in Europe flies over Germany. Due to its central position in the heart of Europe and the large number of airports within and outside its borders, German airspace is one of the most complex in the world. At peak times, air traffic controllers in Germany handle up to 10,000 flights per day, more than a third of which are overflights. The German air navigation services have handled a high volume of air traffic for over 60 years on a daily basis: safely, punctually and efficiently. Over the years, DFS has developed its own systems and tools to optimise en-route control. As our customer, you can use our modern simulators and benefit from our experience in optimising airspace structures. Our competencies in this field include the following: Development and delivery of air traffic management systems (ATM) Implementation of ATM systems Management and planning of airspace structures Operational and contingency concepts for area control centres Integration of approach control into control centres Air traffic flow management systems and processes (ATFM) Installation of and support for simulators Fast and real-time simulations 6

At peak times, air traffic controllers in Germany handle up to 10,000 flights per day. Air traffic management strategies Viable organisational structures and effective strategies are the prerequisites for efficient air traffic management. Since its foundation, DFS has been a pioneer in this domain. Having successfully achieved civil-military integration in German airspace, DFS plays a leading role in this area. The important topic of integrating unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), commonly called drones, is another area where DFS is making rapid progress. Backed by a wealth of experience in air traffic management strategy, our company can help you successfully meet the challenges of the future. Our focal points are: Separation of air traffic services and national supervisory authority Consulting and tools for civil-military integration Integration of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) Provision of programs for the calculation of air navigation charges Master plans for the aviation industry (airports, air navigation services, airlines) Performance and project management for ATM and ANS projects Consulting and tools for efficient staff planning (ATCO) Preparation for and conducts of ICAO audits Forward-looking concepts such as sectorless ATM 7

Technical services and support systems for CNS Aerodrome control is not possible without sophisticated and advanced technology. The DFS Group aims to implement only the best CNS systems that will stand the test of time. These include, for example, satellite-based precision approach procedures using GBAS (groundbased augmentation system) as well as tools developed in-house to reduce the load on radio frequencies and to eliminate Mode S conflicts. We also continuously develop and perfect our high performance backup systems. Would you like to use advanced technical systems and tools developed by real-world users for real-world use? Would you like support in choosing or maintaining your CNS equipment? We can support you in the following areas: Maintenance and servicing of ATS and CNS systems Development of maintenance processes Support services for global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) and ground-based augmentation systems (GBAS) Development of maintenance concepts (centralised/decentralised) and processes (Service Level Agreements (SLA)) CNS support tools Virtualisation of testing systems 8

Safety management When it comes to consultancy and training in the area of safety management, DFS Aviation Services relies on the wide range of expertise of the whole DFS Group. Our customers include air navigation service providers from around the world, national supervisory authorities, ministries of transport and defence as well as aircraft manufacturers from Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Safety assessments for ATM systems Safety consultancy and training for: Occurrence investigations Human factors and team resource management Fatigue risk management Safety awareness and culture Critical incident stress management (CISM) Stress management DFS Aviation Services relies on the wide range of expertise of the whole DFS Group. 9

Data services & provision Air traffic control would not be possible without data. The importance of and thus our reliance on up-to-date and gapless data continues to grow, as does the complexity of data. The DFS Group has a valuable data pool at its disposal. Furthermore, it has the expertise necessary to provide you with access to data, assist with your data management and provide consultancy services for the following areas: Provision of radar and voice communication data Aeronautical data quality (ADQ) management System-wide information management (SWIM) Provision of aeronautical data (flight plans and flight-plan-associated messages, NOTAM, etc.) Air traffic planning and statistics Provision of data for maps/charts 10

The DFS Academy is one of the world s largest ATC training facilities. Training A sophisticated selection process and professional training are the basis for reliable human resources planning. The DFS Group has many years of experience in training its own personnel as well as customers from all over the world. A modular training concept has been developed to tailor each training plan individually for each customer. All DFS courses comply with EU regulation 2015/340. We offer own training and we are your contact point for access to the wide range of courses that DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung provides. The courses are held at the DFS Academy in Langen, Germany one of the world s largest ATC training facilities or at a location of your choice.
