REGISTRATION DESK Conference Coordinators and ACT Branch members will man the desk located on the 1st Floor, Rydges Canberra at 11am- 5pm, Thursday, Februay 14; 8.30am-4pm, Friday, February 15 and 8am-1pm, Saturday February 16. CANCELLATION POLICY The conference registration fee is nonrefundable. Conference activities payments cannot be refunded after January 11. CONFERENCE TRANSPORT Registration fees include bus transport from and to Rydges for the Civic Reception; Government House Reception; Australian War Memorial Wreath Laying and the dinner at the National Gallery of Australia. Transport to and from the airport and the venue and alternate accommodation is at personal cost. PARKING Please enquire from accommodation venues. For day sessions open-area parking is available opposite Rydges Lakeside. Parking will be available for members wishing to travel direct to the Civic and Government House Reception and the Formal Dinner. INSURANCE The conference committee recommends that members and partners consider travel insurance incorporating cover for nonrefundable registration fees. PROGRAM EVENTS All events and functions must be prebooked when completing the registration form. These will be listed on member s and partner s name tags. ACCOMMODATION Conference Coordinators have generously partnered with the Conference Committee to handle registrations and accommodation. Block bookings are being held at the conference venue, Rydges Canberra Hotel and three alternate venues are listed on the registration form. EARLY AND LATE ARRIVALS Members and partners may wish to take a break and arrive in Canberra earlier than February 14 or extend your stay. Conference Coordinators will be pleased to arrange accommodation to suit your needs. Please note that the Conference begins on Thursday, February 14 with the Civic Reception from 6pm. The registration desk will close at 5pm. The weather Canberra summers are typically warm and dry, with temperatures exceeding 30 C with continuous sunshine.

Activities THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 14 Registration opens at conference venue, Rydges Canberra Hotel, London Circuit, Civic, at 11am. If driving, you might consider meandering toward Canberra through the acclaimed Canberra District wine district or exploring the architecture of the embassy belt around Yarralumla; or if arriving early, discover the modern city centre shopping at Canberra Centre or admire the art at the Canberra Museum and Gallery on London Circuit. The magnet of Lake Burley Griffin is always hard to resist or soak up some of the Centenary celebrations at the iconic Parliamentary Triangle s national institutions. And, with the politicians back from the summer break, you are always welcome to wander the corridors of power at New Parliament House. 3pm-4pm Meet and Greet at Rydges 6pm-7.30pm The Chief Minister s Civic Reception This is not to be missed. Buses will leave the conference centre, Rydges Canberra Hotel at 5.15pm for the newly opened February 3 National Arboretum, an ACT Government showpiece that has risen from the devastating bushfires of January 13, 2003. There is splendid new reception building offering fabulous views of the National Capital at sunset. DRESS: Lounge suit/jacket and tie. Michael Jeffery Ray Martin Join former Governor-General Michael Jeffery AC AO (Mil) CVO MC (Retd) as he leads a diverse panel of eminent Australians in Canberra s National Symposium. As keynote speaker, General Jeffery will explore where our democracy is heading, our national identity, and the environment with emphasis on food security, nationally and globally. Moderator and television journalist, Ray Martin AM will lead the panel discussion and Q&A. Distinguished panel members include; Creative Director of the Canberra Centenary and passionate advocate for the national capital Robyn Archer AO; farmer and regional supporter Tony Coote AM and medical entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr Sam Prince. Attendance is open to conference members, their partners and friends, and recipients of the Order. 2.30pm-4pm Association Members Forum. An interactive session with National Board members looking at ideas to further the Association; issues of concern to members your membership; attracting other Order of Australia recipients to join; promoting the Association; nominations for Awards; are our programs attractive; feedback about The Order magazine; governance procedures and participation. Government House 6pm-7.30pm Government House reception, hosted by Her Excellency, the Governor-General, Mrs Quentin Bryce AC CVO. At 5.15pm, buses will whisk you from the convention centre to be entertained in the pristine setting of beautiful Government House, nestled beside Lake Burley Griffin in Yarralumla. Earlier, the Governor-General will have presented the latest Order of Australia Foundation Scholarships. The reception will be held in a marquee and surrounding grassed outdoor terrace. Appropriate footwear for ladies is recommended. Please note: Government House protocol means that numbers are limited strictly to conference members and guests registered by Monday, January 16. The Memorial combines a shrine, a worldclass museum, and an extensive archive. Moulin Rouge: La Goulue by Toulouse Lautrec A stunning, unforgettable highlight of this year s conference is certain to be the exclusive guided-tour viewing of the National Gallery of Australia s Canberra Centenary blockbuster, preceded by cocktails and short curatorial presentation. 7.30pm-11pm Conference Gala Dinner. The elegant and new Gandel Hall, at the National Gallery of Australia will provide the backdrop the the conference conclusion of fine dining and entertainment. Dinner will comprise three courses and the wines will be complemented by specially sourced cold climate local vintages. As well as the Association s best people in town, there s also some of the world s best golfers here for the 2013 Women s Australian Open to be played from February 14-17 at Royal Canberra Golf Club. The championship, which comes to Canberra for the first time, is part of the 2013 Centenary of Canberra celebrations and will be the season-opening event on the global LPGA Tour with prize money of US$1.2 million. Old Parliament House Otherwise visitors are encouraged to extend their stay in Canberra to take the opportunity to visit nationai institutions such as old Parliament House s Museum of Australian Democracy; the National Portrait Gallery; National Archives; National Library of Australia - or perhaps re-visit the National Gallery and the Australian War Memorial. Or other Canberra and Region attractions viz: Black Mountain, Mt Ainslie, explore Lake Burley Griffin - take a boat cruise, the Carillon and many more. A good starting point is the National Capital Authority s Regatta Point Exhibition, which sets out the 100- year history and development of Canberra.
