The infrastructure includes facilities for data generation and processing; a network of observatories; facilities for data integration and interoperability; virtual laboratories offering a range of analytical and modelling tools; and a Service Centre providing special services for scientific and policy users, including training and research opportunities for young scientists. Important steps have been taken towards building an infrastructure that connects European research networks and allows biodiversity discussion among participating research groups. The infrastructure has the support of all major European biodiversity research networks. Final Budget Statement There was a treat from Sabanci University right before and after the organization. There was a publication charges fro the booklet we prepared for a total of 50 scientists from 18 EU and non EU countries. MEETING VENUE Sabancı University is conveniently located on the eastern borders of Istanbul, in the town of Tuzla. The campus is 45 minutes by car from downtown Istanbul. The University is connected to the several centers downtown by regular shuttle services that depart in front of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The University is 70 km from Istanbul's city center Taksim, 8 km from Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, 38 km from Izmit and 400 km from Ankara. The entire meeting will take place on university campus sparing the participants any unnecessary commute. Directions: From Sabiha Gokcen Airport: If your flight arrives at Sabiha Gokcen Airport, you can arrive on campus simply by taking a short cab ride. From Ataturk Airport: If you arrive at Ataturk Airport, you need to take the Airport shuttle, Havas, to Taksim. In Taksim, you can take the university shuttle to campus. The exact locations of Havas drop-off and shuttle pick-up are one block apart and the following map illustrates the locations. The Havas Shuttle from the airport to Taksim costs 10 YTL (~ 5). More information on the university shuttles is included below. SABANCI UNIVERSITY CAMPUS Hotel: The Faculty of building (3) houses the EDU Hotel. The Hotel is reserved between December 8 th - 12 th for the meeting and with prior notice, we can make arrangements for the participants who need to either arrive early or leave late. There are several meeting rooms for our use. Rooms have internet access and we advise you to bring an Ethernet cable. Wireless internet is available only in common areas, such as the lounge. Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served in the university cafeteria which is on the ground level of the University Center (4). We expect to have a special dinner on Tuesday evening in a restaurant in town. Campus Map: The Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (5) is located on the other side of the University Center. The university shuttle buses leave from Central Plant (11) frequently throughout the day.
Sabanci University Shuttles : The shuttle bus service is a reliable means of transportation from central locations, such as Taksim and Kadikoy. One way fare from Taksim is 8YTL (~ 4) and from Kadikoy is 7YTL (~ 3.50).
