Happy Wanderings Vol. XXVII Issue 3 The Official Newsletter of the Happy (OK) Wanderers An Affiliated Chapter of the Family Motor Coach Association April, 2018 Durant Rally - Registration on Page 6 more information Here is your April newsletter. A couple of items to keep in mind: Note that your registration deadline for this rally is April 5th, and that you do not need to call the park with your reservation. The host will take care of that for you. In addition, if you turn to page 7 of the newsletter that we are still hoping to signup additional coaches for the lube rally the first four days in May. All of the details are on page 7. If you are reading this and having a hard day, turn to page 4 of this newsletter and take a look at the bottom picture. Hopefully it will make you feel better that you are not the owner of the pictured fifth-wheel. Keep on... Happy Wandering! South Central Area FMCA RAINBOWS AND LEPRECAHNS There were not as many signs of spring emerging until the March rally began, and then there was GREEN everywhere to celebrate the RAIN- BOWS AND LEPRECAHN Rally at Wichita Falls at Coyote Ranch Resort/ Jellystone Park. The rally room was decked out in all sizes of shamrocks, green hats, and coins from pots of gold. Some of the gold coins were even edible on the last day. We even received Rainbow Seeds and St. Patrick s Day pins in our welcome bags! All the hosts were celebrating especially on Saturday when each wore a green hat or hair accessory, green shirts, vests, wigs--- amazing fun! Hosting were Carl and Phala Clough, Dean and Dwayne Davis, Ken and Linda Johnson, M. D. and Terri Gentry, and Bob and Linda Murray. Twenty coaches enjoyed the fun and fellowship. Attending were Marvin and Chris Curtis, Tillman and Mary Frizzell, Kent and Sandi Gardner, Jim Garrelts, June Guess, Norma Hamel, Tom Murdoch, Leroy and Lois Hinderliter, Ron and Evelyn Lee, Earl and Mary Powell, Darrel and Joyce Rich, one of our newest members, Sonny Rose, Ellen Wilson, Joe and Lois Sturgil, Frank and Cyndi Timchak, Bob and Donna Waller and David and Pam Denny. Prior to the GREEN Celebration beginning, about 24 enjoyed dinner at Don Pedro s Mexican Restaurant on Wednesday evening. Then the GREEN fun began with our Thursday evening dinner of hot, baked Tatties with toppings, salad, and St. Patrick s Day green frosted cupcakes with rings and shamrocks on top. Following several rounds of Card Bingo led by Linda and Linda and Door Prize drawings by Carl and Phala, many enjoyed the generous prizes from the hosts and donations from Joe Hurley, Camping World and Wade s in the Tulsa area. Seemed the number of prizes grew each evening rather than dwindling! Friday morning breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, juice, milk, and fruit cups fortified all those going on the M. D. Gentry bus tour to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center, Meers, and Medicine Park with lunch at the Plantation. M. D. made special arrangements to borrow his church bus so the group

April could go together in fellowship: songs, stories and jokes filled the ride. Special thanks to M. D. and also David Denny, who accompanied M. D. on his many trips to acquire and then return the bus in addition to the group trip. Hamburgers with all the fixings and root beer floats filled us before our rousing games of Left/Right/Center on Friday evening. Once again, the door prize and game winners enjoyed the wealth of prizes. Everyone won a prize!! Pancakes, hot syrup and butter, sausage, fruit cups, milk and juice were enjoyed by all on Saturday morning. Several groups played cards during the days and visited inside due to the windy spring days. Tantalizing all during the day on Saturday was Ken Johnson s spaghetti sauce which he served up in generous portions for the Saturday evening dinner. Hot garlic bread and sherbet and cupcakes rounded out the delicious dinner. M. D. conducted a Page 3 St. Patrick s Trivia contest which taxed a few of us, but a few savy people were winners!! On Sunday morning our hosts prepared warm bagels with cream cheese and jelly or Danish for the travelers before all headed home or to another destination or seeking that pot of gold or just a beautiful rainbow. President Frank Timchak announced a need for a Devotional Leader since Jim Bratcher is taking a medical leave during Donna s cancer concerns. Earl Powell, Dwayne Davis and Bob Waller offered blessings for meals. Frank also had the pleasure of introducing Joyce and Darrel Rich, our newest members from the Tulsa area. Earl Powell reminded all the Lube Rally on May 1-4 at Win-Star RV Park. Robert of RV Mobile Lube will be servicing coaches. If you can attend, let Earl know. If you need service, notify Earl so he can notify Robert to have appropriate supplies for your coach. earleepowell@gmail.com First night s dinner with GIANT Baked potatoes and salad. Good food and great fellowship! Above: Chapter President, Frank Timchak, and Bob Waller do some catching up after a long winter. Left: Enjoying Thursday s evening meal with new members Darrell and Joyce Rich.

This winter Mary and I were visiting different RV Parks in the area we were staying in and happened to run across this Fifth Wheel in the back of a campground almost spilt in half by this fallen tree.

April Page 7 An Additional NEW Happy (OK) Wanderers Rally Scheduled! Because of a problem finding a time for RV Mobile Lube to be able to attend a regular rally date it has become necessary to add an additional rally date to this years rally schedule. If you are one of our members that normally has service done on your coach during the spring at a scheduled rally, you will need to get out your calendar and mark May 1,2,3,4 as the dates that this service will be done. The location for this special Lube Rally will be at WinStar Campground in Thackerville, OK. We suggest that you arrive on Tuesday afternoon, May 1 st ; service will begin on Wednesday, May 2 nd and continue on through Thursday, May 3 rd, if necessary. The special rally will end on May 4 th, Friday when you will need to depart in the morning unless you make additional arrangements with the campground. There will be no rally fee and no formal host or any prepared meals for this rally. If you choose, you may use your player s card and a photo ID, and partake of the free breakfast buffet that the casino offers on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Otherwise, you will be on your own for all meals. This rally will be a chance to visit with those attending. If we have at least 10 coaches attending, we will have access to the rally room for cards and games during the day or in the evenings Some of you may being thinking, Can I attend if I am not having service done on my coach? and the answer is YES, YES, YES. The more, the merrier!! ALL Happy (OK) Wanderer Members and any potential members may attend this rally. Even though this is not a formal HOW rally, I still need for you to e-mail me some information at earleepowell@gmail.com. If you are not attending it is not necessary that you inform me at all. If you are attending, but not having service done please e-mail this information and what days you will attend. If you are attending and having service on your coach, I need some additional information. I will need what service you are requesting, your engine brand and size, generator brand (if it is being serviced), arrival date, planned departure date, and your cell phone number. I would like to have notice from you by April 1, 2018 so that I will know the number of people requesting service and can let Robert know in advance of his arrival in May. If you are a new member and have not used RV Mobile Lube to service your coach, let me say that this is someone that several of us have used regularly. He is very knowledgeable of all types of coaches and all brands. His prices are very reasonable, especially comparable to Cummins and Freightliner. The Mobile Lube web-site is www.rvmobilelube.com. He will have a price guide for all of the services that he provides. You will need to call on your own and make reservations with the campground. The phone number is 580.276.8900 and indicate that you are attending the Happy (OK) Wanderer s Rally. Your rally campground rate, with a players card, is $30 for a pull through (probably best if you are having service) and $20 for a back-in. If you do not have a player s card you may get one when you check-in. Earl and Mary Powell
