During this festive season, the River Walk sparkles with millions of decorative lights, illuminating its already charming atmosphere. With its historic missions, River Walk restaurants, Spanish architecture, and a beautiful river centrepiece, San Antonio is often referred to as the American Venice. Our tour highlights include visits to Mission San Jose, the Alamo, an olive orchard, the LBJ Ranch, German-themed Fredericksburg, the El Mercado Mexican Marketplace, and to nearby Austin - the capital city of Texas. We admire the dazzling Christmas decorations during a riverboat cruise along the San Antonio River Walk. Visiting a working Longhorn cattle ranch, we enjoy a wagon ride and a traditional Texas barbeque! Our holiday features five nights at the Omni La Mansion del Rio, ideally nestled along the historic San Antonio River Walk. To take advantage of relaxing non-stop flights, a pre-night and a post-night in Seattle are also included. Day 1, Saturday November 25 (home to Seattle) Following our at-home-pickup-service and lunch in Bellingham, we continue to our overnight stop at the Hilton Seattle Airport. Day 2, Sunday November 26 (Seattle to San Antonio, Texas) This morning we check-in at the Seattle Airport for our noon flight with Alaska Airlines, non-stop (4hrs) to San Antonio, Texas. We check-in for five nights at the Omni La Mansion del Rio, ideally nestled along the historic San Antonio River Walk. Our hotel is perfectly situated within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants, and to the fabled Alamo, the El Mercado Mexican Marketplace, and other well-known landmarks. This evening is at leisure. Meal B Day 3, Monday November 27 (San Antonio, local touring) This morning during a guided tour of San Antonio, we visit the Mission San Jose established in 1720, and continue to the famous Alamo, a place where men made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. This afternoon you may choose between a visit to the South Texas Heritage Center, an interactive museum dedicated to sharing the stories of San Antonio s people and the land that shaped their lives; or, you may prefer to explore the 33-acre grounds of the San Antonio Botanical Gardens, featuring expansive rose gardens, a tropical vegetation conservatory, and the Texas Native Trail showcasing the state s diverse ecosystems. This evening at a Longhorn cattle ranch we sip cocktails, take in the sounds of the fiddle while gazing at the sprawling Texas sky, board a small river barge for a nature cruise, enjoy a haywagon ride for an up-close view of the Longhorns, and savour some Texas-style barbecue. Our evening closes listening to stories of the Old West, while roasting marshmallows over an open fire. Meals BD Day 4, Tuesday November 28 (visit LBJ Ranch & Fredericksburg) This morning in nearby Stonewall, we visit the LBJ Ranch, birthplace of Lyndon B. Johnson. Touring the ranch, we ll view the Texas White House and learn about living in the Hill Country. Continuing to Fredericksburg, we enjoy its Christmas season festivities and decorations, flavoured by a German heritage. Returning to our hotel, we enjoy dinner at one of San Antonio s popular restaurants. Meals BD Day 5, Wednesday November 29 (river cruise and olive orchard dinner) This morning we re surrounded by holiday cheer during a narrated riverboat cruise along the San Antonio River Walk. Following our cruise, we stop for browsing at El Mercado, the Mexican Marketplace, and then return to our hotel for an afternoon at leisure. This evening we visit a picturesque olive orchard, to enjoy a tour, wine and olive oil tasting, and a Texas-inspired dinner. Meals BD Day 6, Thursday November 30 (San Antonio, a day at leisure) Today is at leisure to relax and enjoy our hotel and its River Walk setting. This evening we complete our San Antonio holiday with a farewell dinner. Meals BD
Day 7, Friday December 1 (San Antonio to Austin, fly to Seattle) Departing San Antonio, we travel north to Austin, the capital city of Texas. Following a city tour and lunch, we check-in this afternoon at the Austin Airport for our 7pm flight with Alaska Airlines, non-stop (4hrs) to Seattle. Upon arrival in Seattle, we overnight at the DoubleTree by Hilton Seattle Airport. Meals BL Day 8, Saturday December 2 (Seattle to home) Following a leisurely breakfast at our hotel, we depart Seattle, stop for lunch in Bellingham, and continue homeward to British Columbia. Collette Vacations Waiver & Insurance Plan (included with your tour) Payments for this tour are fully refundable until June 21. After June 21, in the event of cancellation for any reason prior to the day of departure, the Collette Cancellation Waiver, which is included with this tour, guarantees a full refund of all payments, less a cancellation fee of $270. On the day of departure the cancellation fee is 100% of the total price, unless the cancellation is for a medical reason supported by a doctor s letter, in which case only the $270 cancellation fee will apply. The plan does not cover any single supplement charges. If your travelling companion cancels, you may continue by paying the single supplement, or cancel and receive a refund less the cancellation fee.
