What is it? Scouts Oath Camp 2014 Boy Scouts and Webelos Scouts Joint Adventure June 7-8 at Rockwood State Park, Morrison For the troops, it is an opportunity for your Boy Scouts/Crews to demonstrate leadership and training skills, and to reinforce interest in the younger Scouts through fellowship and bonding. For the Webelos, it is an opportunity for the boys to see what Boy Scouts/Venturing is all about, and to show how much fun it can be. They have the opportunity to complete the participation requirement for the Arrow of Light. And, this is an opportunity for the Webelos to see the Boy Scouts in action to keep them interested in the program at a point where interest in Scouting can wane. Who can attend? Any Boy Scout with their Troop, Webelos Scouts (Scouts finishing 3rd and 4th grade) with their parents & Den Leaders/Cubmasters and Venture Crew members with their Crew, may attend. We strongly recommend that the Pack and Troops work together to come to this event. Where and when is it? June 7 at 11:00, overnight, breaking camp ~10am Morrison-Rockwood State Park (Where West Side Cub Scout Day Camp is) 18750 Lake Road, Morrison, IL 61270 What does it cost? $10 per Webelos Scout (those finishing 3rd and 4th grade) $5 per Boy Scout if Camping Parents/Adults/Scouters/Staff - $5.00 if camping (includes patch and cracker barrel) Staff/Adults/"Scouters"/Boy Scouts/Crews NOT Camping - free Fee includes patch, program supplies and camping fees. Scouts Oath Camp 2014: Let s Make it Happen! Troops, if your unit has a skill or program you would like to offer, please let me know! I am open to ideas for what to offer the units. We would like each Troop that is participating to offer at least 2 boys to help with the sessions, more if possible (all Boy Scouts attending should be prepared to help in some way). They will be leading sessions and helping the Webelos get from session to session, and helping out with other tasks throughout the campout. Ideally, where feasible, we would like the boys in the troops to lead the sessions. I can help coordinate what each troop is providing so they can prepare accordingly. We will be adding an additional session this year; pitching tents! Because of that, we would like participants to arrive no later than 11:30 that day so we can get everyone registered. We would like the Webelos boys to work with older boys on setting up the tents so the Webelos Scouts can feel some accomplishment on a job well done and get the day off to a good start. All participating units should come prepared with their own food for Lunch, Dinner, and Breakfast the following day. I will be sending out more information and registration forms soon to all unit leaders emails, or by snail mail for those with no listed email address. Call Robert Fulton at 815 713-9566 with questions, comments, or if you d like to help. You can also request more information about Scouts Oath Camp 2014 by email at: oathcamp2014@morrisonscouting.org
