Training A350XWB SHAPING THE FUTURE OF TRAINING Value creation is our commitment to ensure your competitiveness and success in an ever-changing environment. Based on fleet-wide knowledge and worldwide in-service experience, we strive to ensure that the personnel who maintain and operate Airbus aircraft are able to manage any operational situations. Competencies are the backbone of our new curriculum development. Airbus training programmes focus on the essentials and immerse the trainees in their functional environment as early as possible in the course. Active learning and scenario-based sessions lead to more efficient and effective training for safe and optimised operations of the A350XWB. Unequalled realism is reached with the introduction of a new generation of learning tools: APT+ trainer, ACE trainer, ACT by Airbus, injecting reality into training. Airbus training solutions now bring these new training concepts where, when and how you need them.
004 A350XWB - Training by Airbus FLIGHT TRAINING B Mitigate risk of the unpredictable Based on a competency-based training concept (e.g. ICAO Doc. 9868), A350XWB flight training moves the emphasis from focusing on the outcome of events or exercises towards understanding the underlying behaviours required for successful execution. The A350XWB Type Rating programme is modelled on this approach and prioritises the development and assessment of the fundamental pilots competencies. A NEW GENERATION OF LEARNING TOOLS Airbus Cockpit Experience (ACE) trainer This new training device reproduces the A350XWB cockpit. This virtual and interactive simulator allows the trainee to acquire knowledge on systems and procedures. Thanks to ACE trainer s mobility, the trainee can refresh or reinforce his competencies at any stage of the training and beyond.
A350XWB - Training by Airbus 005 Y AIRBUS Workload management Leadership and teamwork Problem solving and decision making Application of procedures Knowledge Flight path management Automation Situation awareness Communication Flight path management Manual Getting to grips with the aircraft by handling and executing Airbus introduces a learning by discovering process for trainee pilots to familiarise themselves with the aircraft with the Airbus Cockpit Experience (ACE) device. Manual handling in the Full Flight Simulator (FFS) is also introduced at the earliest possible stage. This new process gives an increased opportunity for practising throughout the course. FFS sessions lead to scenario-based flights towards the end of the course. Airbus Pilot Transition (APT+) trainer APT+ is an enhanced APT trainer built with side sticks, rudder pedals, adjustable seats, limited visual and 3D hardware throttle. On top of procedures training, these new features will enable pilots to perform: Non-precision approaches below minima Realistic take-offs Enhanced abnormal procedures training A350 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) The latest standard of FFS promotes manual flying in an early stage of the course, to reinforce trainees confidence and expertise in manual aircraft handling.
006 A350XWB - Training by Airbus A320 11 days A340 11 days A380 5 days A350 Same Type Rating 8 days A330 A350XWB COMMONALITY BUILDING ON FAMILY STRENGTHS Reduced Type Rating course (CCQ) Minimised duration of Type Rating courses thanks to previous experience taking credit for learning already done on another Airbus aircraft. Pilots qualify from one Airbus fly-by-wire type to another through reduced type rating instead of full Type Rating (Transition Training). Reduced Type Rating considerably reduces flight crew training cost, time and effort. Same Type Rating (STR) Flying several aircraft models with a single license endorsement. One qualification required to fly an aircraft of different size and weight sharing the same type certificate. Mixed Fleet Flying (MFF) Flying of different Airbus aircraft types by one pool of pilots. MFF enhances flight crew proficiency and increases productivity through greater rostering flexibility. It also offers a more varied working environment, hence contributing to greater job satisfaction for pilots.
A350XWB - Training by Airbus 007 A350XWB commonality with the A330 Airbus has been granted regulatory approval of a Common Type Rating (CTR, Difference training course) for the A330 and A350XWB, based on handling similarities. A330 pilots are expected to qualify on the A350XWB in eight working days without mandated Full Flight Simulator time. An FTD Level 2 is used for this difference training course. FTD Level 2 is equipped with cockpit, full size panels and all controls, switches and knobs that physically replicate the aircraft in control operation. Common Type Rating (CTR, Difference training course) Flying several aircraft types with a single license endorsement. One qualification required to fly aircraft of different size and weight having separate type certificates.

010 A350XWB - Training by Airbus MAINTENANCE TRA BY AIRBUS Focus on the essentials A350XWB maintenance training uses the proven efficiency and success of the Airbus Competence Training (ACT) concept. This operationally-oriented scenario-based concept is focused on a Learning-by-Doing approach. In addition, a specific two-day course on new technologies has been designed to bridge the gap between previous generation aircraft and new designs. Airbus Competence Training (ACT) The new A350XWB ACT trainer has been 100% developed by Airbus to recreate and simulate an interactive environment Virtual Aircraft Virtual Cockpit Optimised simulation scenarios It allows both theory and practice of troubleshooting and maintenance tasks. Based on this light and versatile concept running on a laptop, it is available at the airline s facilities.
