This was our first Social at the Inn. Erin McCauley, Director of Sales and our hostess for the evening, has been in the hotel business eight years and happy to be here for the past year. The Hilton Garden Inn has been open for five years. It proudly sits just minutes away from award-winning Sonoma County tasting rooms and wineries. Some hotel highlights: Complimentary fitness center Indoor pool Great restaurant & lobby/lounge 24-hour business center and flexible meeting space 100% satisfaction guarantee Shuttle to the airport and nearby offices Erin says they love corporate clients. California American Water is one of their newest. The restaurant is open to the public and for banquets. Menus are complemented with local Sonoma County wines. Our hosts at Hilton Garden Inn Sonoma County Airport: Erin McCauley, Director of Sales; Andrea Harris, General Manager About the Social The Mark West Area Chamber Social was held in the very large Sonoma room, which can be divided in two. We started our evening with a scavenger hunt taking us throughout the Inn and discovering its amenities. It made for a fun and informative evening. Erin introduced some of her dynamic team. General Manager Andrea Harris has been with the company since groundbreaking, six years ago. PAGE 2 BRINGING BUSINESS & THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER! Doug Williams Central Fire Authority of Sonoma County President Our Mission: The Mark West Area Chamber of Commerce is organized to advance the economic wellbeing and uniqueness of the Mark West Area so that its citizens and all areas of its business community shall prosper. CHAMBER MEETINGS Board of Directors Second Tuesday Of Each Month 11:30 am - 1:00 pm Grace Fellowship 608 Larkfi eld Center Ambassadors Mtg. Second Thursday Of Each Month 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm At the Chamber offi ces PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Greetings! It sure is great to be a member of a wonderful community! I was part of a conversation the other day that emphasized the attractiveness of our location and reinforced the idea that this is a place that people really do enjoy. With spring right around the corner it is hard to believe that we are back to daylight savings time (began on Sunday, March 9.) Hopefully, we aren t done with the rain for the year, but it is nice to have some evening light to work on some outside projects (or enjoy some recreation). By most indications, the business environment continues to improve. Unfortunately, there are still businesses that are struggling. It is my hope that the Mark West Area Chamber of Commerce can offer some encouragement to our members by making them more visible and consequently more viable. I am sure that most members are well aware of the large public works projects being completed in the area. You just need to take a trip down Airport Boulevard to see a new overpass on one end and the expansion of the Charles M. Schulz - Sonoma County Airport on the other end. Most recently, construction started on the SMART rail station and maintenance facility along the tracks just south of Airport Boulevard. Please keep the Chamber calendar in mind as you plan for the remainder of the year. It s great to report that the socials are booked through the end of the year (evenings of the second Thursday of each month). Speaking of socials, the Hilton Garden Inn did another outstanding job as host in February, and you can read all about it on page 3. It s also a good time to secure a booth for the 25th Annual Wine Country Harvest Faire & Business Showcase trade show in October. You can call the chamber at 707 578-7975 or use our online form at http://markwest.org/contactus.cfm to get more information. Once again, I would like to emphasize the need for qualified volunteers to help in the office. The Mark West Area Chamber of Commerce owes its success and continued existence to a number of very dedicated volunteers and expanding the office hours is probably the most urgent need there is. We can t do that without additional people. Your support of the Mark West Area Chamber of Commerce is appreciated! And remember, try to do business with other chamber members whenever possible! Doug Williams, President, Central Fire Authority of Sonoma County
