4.Voice from Participants U.S.A. High School Student The Asahi Soft Drink Co. Ltd.was super interesting. The environment process was so different compared to American factories. It was so cool to see how the inner process of these factories is. It was very interesting to learn about the traditional tea ceremony and drawing the kanji during the school exchange program. I enjoyed interacting with and sharing social medias with the students. U.S.A. High School Student Best thing ever! I enjoyed culture, friendship, hospitality and amazing food. I formed a strong bond between my student and me and could not help but break into tears when she left. U.S.A. High School Student The lecture by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs taught me a lot about Japanese history. I did not know that the majority of the Japanese constitution was written by the U.S. It was a rather perplexing piece of information and it makes me interested to know the details of the Japanese constitution and how amendments are created. Seeing the different ways their school is run (it was most significant impression), like how the students have to change their shoes before going into the school and the students have to clean the school when school is out. 5.Voice from Japanese Participants School Exchange Program High School Student I was able to meet many Americans for the first time through participating in this program. Although it was only 2 days long, we were able to exchange opinions on each other s cultures and differences in school systems on a deep level. It was great to experience native English pronunciation and speed as well. We were able to communicate very well when we were split up into group, and it was very fun. I will continue my newfound relationships through social media. Local Government Employee Since Japanese high school students were present with the American students during the lecture, we had a good chance to talk about our community in our own words, which lead to further understanding of our own lives, which I found was quite eye-opening. 6
Host Family It was shocking to see the students try to speak Japanese without the help from a smart phone. When they told me that they d rather spend time with us than go to sleep, it made me very happy and urged me to stay awake with them. They learned quite a lot of Japanese within 3 days! 6.Dissemination by the Participants ASMSA students are interacting with Mishima High School students. They will visit Arkansas in March 2017.
