Mr. Lahcen Haddad, Minister of Tourism, Morocco 12:00-13:00 1 st Session: Tourism in the Sustainable Development Goals: Enhancing Inclusive Economic Growth and Accelerating SCP Patterns in the Tourism Sector: A Ministerial Panel The 10YFP STP offers a major opportunity for achieving sustainability globally for the tourism sector over the next decade and to ensure that tourism contributes effectively to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a truly transformative platform, which include three goals that apply to tourism: SDG 8 (good jobs and inclusive economic growth), SDG 12 (sustainable consumption and production) and SDG 14 (sustainable use of oceans and marine resources) and their respective targets and indicators. In this Panel Ministers will present and discuss, from the policy stand point, how their respective sectors are planning and preparing for contributing to the newly formulated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This session and discussion will contribute to raise awareness on financing plans and tools to support the policies presented by the Ministers during the first session and on how these new investment instruments are adapted in support of the new sustainable development goals (SDGs). It will highlight how determined leadership in place, strengthened cross-sector collaboration, including with the private sector and local communities, inter-linkages and synergies between tourism and other stakeholders, can facilitate the identification and support of complementary objectives, common interests, needs and opportunities for joint actions.
