About Camp Hoover Great Times, Great Memories, Great Experiences! For over 50 years Camp Lou Henry Hoover has been creating great summer memories for girls of all ages. Since 1953, we have been providing girls with the opportunity to learn, discover, explore, challenge, create and make new friends in a friendly camping environment. Great times and great experiences are what make our resident camp program so special! At Camp Hoover we gear our programs to girls entering grades 2-12. All our activities are grouped according to interest, age and ability to make your stay more enjoyable and comfortable. A variety of programs and sessions, designed to meet the interest of all girls, are available. Camping provides a way for girls to empower themselves, develop lifelong skills and create great memories. We have developed and refined a camper program that meets the strictest requirements of Girl Scouts of the USA, the New Jersey Youth Camp Safety Act and the American Camping Association. Enjoy a week or more at Camp Hoover exploring the beauty of this 340-acre site nestled in the woods of Sussex County, New Jersey. Register for the program of your choice combined with all the other activities that Camp Hoover has waiting for you. Any girl entering grades 2-12 regardless of race, color, religion, age, national origin, socioeconomic level or disability is welcomed! You do not presently have to be a Girl Scout to join in the celebration. Girls attending Camp Hoover have the opportunity to work on Girl Scout Badges, Try Its and Interest Project Patches too! Camp Hoover is a journey into independence a place where you and our experienced counselors plan your weekly adventure together. You ll meet girls your age and counselors from around the state, the country and often from around the world. Our staff are college students, teachers and/or adults who have a special interest in working with young people and the outdoors. Staff attend a week of pre-camp training under the leadership of our Resident Camp Director. Over half of the Hoover staff return each year and they are mature experienced individuals. So, let them lead you on a week or more of self-discovery, development of new skills, reaching your full potential and taking part in great experiences. The great times continue at your campsite where you ll share one of our large platform tents equipped with your own cot and storage area. You ll gather under your tent unit s program shelter for more group entertainment. Just a few steps away from your tent are the lavatory facilities with flush toilets, hot and cold running water, sinks and showers. A short walk will take you to our dining hall or our program building for good times indoors. Girls attending Mini Camp, Everynight Live, Hoover Pioneers, and What s Cooking sleep in one of our contemporary buildings, equipped with kitchen and bathroom facilities.like a big sleepover party! The advantages to succeed never end at Camp Hoover. Make your reservation now for a great summer experience that you ll never forget! See you this summer!
