DeSurvey Fourth Annual General Meeting (AGM4) PRACTICAL INFORMATION PLACE AND DATES OF THE MEETING The fourth Annual Meeting of Desurvey Project will be held in Dakar, Senegal, from 18 to 24 February, 2008 at Ngor Hotel Route de Ngor, BP : 8092 Tel : +221 33 820/1005/ 2724 /0145 Fax : +221 33 820 27 23 Email : info@hotels-ngordiarama.com Website: www.hotels-ngordiarama.com ACCOMMODATION AND HOTELS RESERVATION Ngor and Diarama Hotels form part of the same complex and are situated 30 minutes from the centre of Dakar and 3 minutes from the Airport. LOCAL TRANSPORT Transfer of participants will be ensured from the International Airport Leopold Sedar Senghor of Dakar to the proposed hotels and vice versa. To enable the local organization to organize this service efficiently, participants are requested to complete and return the above mentioned Registration form, giving theirs arrivals, departures and accommodation details as soon as possible.

Cost of this shuttle bus service between the Airport and the designated hotels will be covered by the meeting participants. According to this, all detail information about costs to be covered by participants (shuttle, joint dinner, ) will be circulated as soon as they are available. Passports and visas Participants should take note of the conditions of entry into Senegalese territory which, in general terms, are as follows: A. No entry visa is necessary for nationals of countries and territories bordering with Senegal, ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) member countries, and members of the European Union, as listed below. Only a valid passport is required for stays of up to 90 days. Bordering countries: Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Mali, and Mauritania. ECOWAS: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape-Verde, Côte d Ivoire, Ghana, Liberia, and Nigeria. European Union: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Sweden. B. Other countries exempt from visa requirement: South Africa, Algeria, Canada, United States of America, Japan, Morocco, Mauritius, Central African Republic, and Tunisia. C. For nationals of other countries, a valid passport and an entry visa to Senegal are required for stays of up to 90 days.

In any case, we recommend contacting local authorities in order to check any modification or any additional requested condition. Health requirements Vaccination against Yellow Fever and treatment against malaria are highly recommended. Participants are kindly requested to have their vaccination notebook. Senegalese authorities can request it presentation upon arrival to the Airport. It would be specially recommended to carry a strong mosquito repellent. See your doctor for more information. Temperatures The weather is generally hot and humid all year. There are two seasons: the rainy season from June to October and the dry season between November and May. Dry season temperatures average between 22 C and 30 C. Dakar temperatures av erage 24 C from January to March. Local time: Senegal is included in the GMT hourly network.

Local currency Senegal forms part of the Franc Zone, which uses the CFA (Communauté financière africaine) franc, whose exchange rate is fixed around: 1 euro = 650 F. This transaction can be mainly made in banks. Credit cards, such as American Express, MasterCard and Visa are widely accepted in Dakar. Joint Dinner Dinner hosted to the participants by CSE will take place in Tuesday evening, February 19 th. The details about this event will be circulated soon. Field visit to El Ferlo Field visit will start on Thursday 21th, early in the morning. CSE will provide a shuttle to transport people from Dakar to the city of Linguere(Ferlo) on the North West of Senegal, where the field visit have being programmed.(see pink zone of the map below). The cost of this shuttle bus service to the field site will be free of charge for participants since it will be economically supported by the Project Management budget.

Other information about the field visit 1. 7 hours trip is the estimated time to get the city of Linguere. 2. The average of daily temperature at the station of Linguère are: Minimum temperature: 19 C ; Maximum temperature: 35 C. 3. Participants visiting El Ferlo will be lodge in three different camps sites. They are equipped with beds, running water and toilets. Sleeping bags are not essential but in any case, people can carry with them their own sleeping bag if they prefer. 4. Food will be available in the Training Centre of Linguere. 5. Sites planned to visit in the Ferlo area : - 1. A regional forest located at Nguith; - 2. A perimeter agro-forester located at Nguith; - 3. A plantation of gommier located at Kamb (project Azila Gum company); - 4. Two retaining tanks around Linguère (Piterki and Ndiorni); - 5. The natural pond of Mbay; - 6. The RADAR tracking station of Linguère (Artificial Rain Project in Senegal); - 7. The Low Valley of Ferlo (close to Mboula); - 8. The Pastoral Unit of Younouféré (drilling and protected area); - 9. Great Green Wall located at Widou Thiengoly (Projet Grande Muraille Verte) ; - 10 Two openings avoid-fires, to be specified with the service of National Forestry Commission. A map with the principal stages of the circuit will be available soon. 6. The estimated time of arrival to Dakar, on Sunday 24 th, will be around 16.00 p.m.
