July Monochrome Print Honors Zebra in Cyberspace by Jan Lightfoot Rolando, Cuban Tobacco Farmer by Jan Lightfoot Print Division News Our July meeting had some twists and turns. We met for dinner at Good Eats which proved to be quite good. We were running a little late however trying to get the print meeting set up. A big thank you to all the helpers! Tim Engle was our judge. He is a professional photographer but had never judged for a camera club. If you entered in the Color Division, raise your score by one point, -- the range was incorrect. The scores are on page 5. After the break the Monochrome Division went smoothly. Our next meeting and competition will be on Wednesday September 20. Winning prints by Dolores Frank and Mike McHaney not available for the Gammagram. 2 Pottery, Gladding McBean by Bob Ashley

New Members Score at Print Competition Don Goldman joined Sierra Camera Club on print night. He entered competition and won color print of the night as well as another honor shown here on the left. Don s images are taken from a telescope. He will be presenting how this is done at a future meeting. Two other members that joined this year, Gary Cawood and Bob Ashley, also earned honors. Congratulations to all! Cosmic Dust by Don Goldman Untitled by Bob Ashley 3 Munich 1988 by Gary Cawood

President s Message July and August are vacation months for the Nature and Travel Division. They return in September with competitions on the 1st, our only Thursday meeting of the year. We had two very good presentations for General Photography in July with Paulo Oliveira presenting a number of do it yourself equipment ideas using over the counter and less expensive materials and methods to get good functional equipment at reasonable prices. Paulo was followed by a very special historic slide show of club members and activities by Tom Myers. We all enjoyed the historic images and it was fun to see real slides again. Let a board member know if you have other ideas for programs celebrating our 75th Anniversary. Our only meeting in August is a competition for the General Photography Division. Get those images ready to submit them for competition. Whether we win or not, we always learn from seeing other photographers work and the judge s comments. July was a competition month for our Print Division. The Print Division will not meet in August returning with another competition on September 20th. Our Meetup group, Exploring Photography continues to offer numerous interesting photography outings. Join them and stay informed of the many fun and rewarding shoots they/we offer. Summer weather has finally arrived and whether you are staying close to home or traveling, I look forward to seeing all your great images this fall. I am planning to be gone most of August hiking portions of the Pacific Crest Trail in southern Washington, conditioned on snow melt finally happening. I look forward to seeing all of you in September. Until then, happy clicking.
