TOUR ITINERARY: Monday July 31: Travel to Portland, ME 6:00AM: Motorcoach will depart from Lancaster, AC Moore Store located at the Lancaster Shopping Center on the Oregon Pike/ Route 272 side of the store 7:00AM: Motorcoach will depart from Harrisburg, AAA Central Penn, 2301 Paxton Church Road and travel to Portland, ME with appropriate rest and meal stops en route. Check in to the hotel with time to freshen up before dinner. Tonight, enjoy a savory welcome dinner at one of the area s fine restaurants. Hotel: Hampton Inn, Portland, ME (Dinner) Tuesday, August 1: The Old Port, Portland Head Light & Mount Desert Island Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning. Check out and begin a guided tour of Portland, described as the beautiful town that is seated by the sea by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The Old Port Exchange on the thriving waterfront was the heart of Portland s busy 19th century commercial ventures and continues to be the center of activity today. Nearby, visit the Portland Head Light which guards the entrance to Casco Bay. Commissioned by George Washington, it is one of the oldest continuously operating lights in the country. Located on the scenic rocky coast, it overlooks many scenic islands and is a favorite with photographers. Then continue down east to Mount Desert Island and arrive into the beautiful town of Bar Harbor where we ll check into the hotel for a relaxing two night stay. Relax and enjoy the resort amenities and surroundings. Tonight, enjoy a delicious dinner and later, choose to gather in the Great Room where Bill Trowell will entertain us on the Baby Grand Piano! Visit thunder hole along with other scenic picture stops making our way to the top of Cadillac Mountain. The views from this mountain are spectacular to behold. Then have some free time in the village of Bar Harbor before embarking on an exciting Whale Watch Cruise out of Frenchman s Bay. Tonight, enjoy another delicious dinner with seafood offering, at one of the area s great restaurants. Later, choose to gather in the Great Room where Bill Trowell will entertain us on the Baby Grand Piano! (Breakfast, Dinner) Thursday, August 3: Maine Lobster Festival! After breakfast, we ll check out and depart for Rockland for the! This world renowned festival is filled with the world s greatest lobster cookers, 20,000 pounds of lobster, a sea goddess coronation, a big parade, top notch entertainment, an international crate race, fine art, talented crafts people and vendors, cooking contests, marine tent and so much more! (Activities vary each day). Tickets for a delicious lobster meal will be provided! Later, continue onto Boothbay Harbor, check into the hotel located directly on the Harbor for a relaxing night s stay. The remainder of the evening is at your leisure. Hotel: Boothbay Harbor Inn, Boothbay Harbor, ME (Breakfast, Lobster Meal at Festival) Friday, August 4: Kennebunkport, Ogunquit, York & Portsmouth Following breakfast this morning, we ll depart for the southern coast of Maine and tour through the popular summer resort of Kennebunkport. Its quaint setting appeals to artists, writers and Presidents. Enjoy a scenic drive along the ocean to Walker s Point which passes the well-known summer home of past President George Bush. Continue on to Ogunquit, named by the Abenaki Indians meaning, beautiful place by the sea. Arrive at Perkins Cove to board the Finestkind for a lobster demonstration cruise to learn all about these tasty crustaceans while enjoying the coastal beauty. Venture on through the villages of York and make a picture stop to one of the most photographed lighthouses in the country; the Cape Neddick Light more popularly known as the Nubble. We ll finish the day with a tour of this historic and charming waterfront city. This city regularly lands on various best places to live lists and was named one of the top 100 walking cities in America, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation named Portsmouth one of the most culturally rich destinations in the country. Tonight enjoy a delicious dinner.
