The Itinerary Day 1 Tuesday Mar 06: Brisbane - Taipei Flight Meals This evening we depart Brisbane International airport where we board our overnight flight to Taipei with China Airlines. Depart Brisbane on China Airlines at 11.15 pm and arrive Taipei at 6.00 am next morning Day 2 Wednesday Mar 07: Taipei Happy Hour & Dinner We arrive into Taipei at early this morning where we are met by our local guide. We make our way to the Howard Plaza Hotel Taipei for a delightful breakfast and a nap after our flight. Early afternoon we visit one of the world s tallest buildings, the Taipei 101 Observatory. On a clear day the views are spectacular and a "must see" while in Taipei. We enjoy lunch (at own cost) before departing for a visit to Martyrs Shrine where we will see the Changing of the Guard. Late afternoon we arrive at our hotel for check in before we meet at the hotels restaurant for a happy hour and our first dinner tonight as a group. (Western Style Buffet) Overnight: Howard Plaza Hotel Taipei. (4 ½ ****) Please Note:*Due to unpredictable weather conditions in Taipei the entrance ticket to the Taipei 101 Observatory is NOT included. However if good weather prevails on the day, time will permit for a visit at own expense. The views are fantastic and it s definitely a must experience. Day 3 Thursday Mar 08: Taipei - Yehliu Park Breakfast & Dinner This morning we travel to Yehliu Park, which is famous for its natural rock formations. We then drive into the colourful hillside villages of Chiufen and Jinguashi. Both the village of Chiufen and the neighbouring township of Jinguashi in Taipei County were once gold mining centres. The gold has gone but the quaint old villages of closely packed houses clinging to steep mountainsides continue to offer enchanting scenery and fascinating glimpses into past lifestyles. Day 4 Friday Mar 09: Taipei - Taichung Breakfast & Dinner An exciting day begins with an informative and eye-opening city tour of Taipei, which includes the impressive C.K.S. Memorial Hall and National Palace Museum where 5,000 years of Chinese Imperial arts and jade collections are exhibited. We depart Taipei and proceed south via the Western Coastline enjoying a stop at the Wood Carving Village of Sanyi, before continuing to the provincial City of Taichung for our overnight stay. Tonight we enjoy dinner at the Chinese Restaurant in the Howard Plaza Hotel. (Banquet) Overnight: Howard Plaza Hotel Taichung (4****) Day 5 Saturday Mar 10:Taichung - Puli - Sun Moon Lake - Taiwan Lantern Festival Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner After breakfast and hotel check out we travel into the scenic and lofty mountains of central Taiwan and Puli, here we enjoy a fascinating visit to the Chung Tai Monastery with a resident monk as our guide. We then continue onto Sun Moon Lake, situated 762 metres above sea level. Sit back and relax on our cruise on scenic Sun Moon Lake whilst enjoying a packed lunch. After our cruise we take the Cable Car to the Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village which has been established to preserve the cultural heritage of Taiwan's nine hill-tribe houses and their living styles. Tonight we will enjoy the Taiwan Lantern Festival in the Chiayi County, a city between Sun Moon Lake and Kaohsiung. During each night of the festival, thousands of sky lanterns illuminate the night skies of Taiwan which is truly an amazing sight that will last in our lifetime memories. Tonight we arrive late in the evening in Kaohsiung where we check in to our hotel. Overnight: Howard Plaza Hotel Kaohsiung (5*****) Day 6 Sunday Mar 11: Kaohsiung Breakfast A great day of exploration and sightseeing awaits today starting with a Kaohsiung City Tour in the morning. Our tour includes a ferry ride to Chichin Island, a long narrow island that forms a natural breakwater protecting Kaohsiung Harbor. Enjoy a traditional Tricycle Ride as Chichin is the only place in Taiwan where you can still ride a traditional three-wheeled pedicab (tricycle) powered by men in Chinese costume a unique experience which has been included today. Later we catch the ferry back to Kaohsiung and proceed on to Lotus Lake, a lovely man made lake adorned by various Chinese-style structures including the ornate Spring and Autumn Pavilions located over the water. After enjoying some shopping in downtown Kaohsiung, we are treated to some pampering - enjoy either a 60 minute body or foot massage. For those who would like to return to the hotel straight away, a transfer will be provided. This afternoon will be free to enjoy the shopping and sites of Kaohsiung. A complimentary transfer is included to and from the Dream Mall between 3pm - 5pm for those shopaholics. That evening, we will visit Liuho Night Market, to taste Taiwanese desserts and snacks, and to visit the famous Love River, which is now renowned for its cafe culture and night tours, which are popular among local couples enjoying a romantic night out. The Kaohsiung Lantern Festivities are held annually along the Love River. During the festival period, both sides of the river, as well as the streets nearby, feature lantern exhibitions. There are also musical performances that lend a festive mood to the whole city. We may also be able to enjoy the romantic water lantern event at Love River. Overnight: Howard Plaza Hotel Kaohsiung (5*****) Day 7 Monday Mar 12: Kaohsiung - Taitung Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner This morning following hotel check out we make our way to the East Coast of Taiwan to the Provincial City of Taitung for our overnight stay. The East Coast stretches in a long narrow strip along the island s Pacific Coast and with its relatively small population and unspoilt landscape with high mountains, rift valley, cliffs, rugged coast line, river terraces and waterfalls the area is a refreshing and surprising contrast. This afternoon we arrive into Taitung where we visit the National Museum of Prehistory. Enjoy dinner at the hotel s Chinese restaurant tonight. (Banquet) Overnight: Hotel Royal Chihpen (4****) Day 8 Tuesday Mar 13: Taitung - Hualien Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner This morning after breakfast we travel along the scenic East Coast with stops at Hsiayehliu, Sanhsientai, Stone Umbrella, Caves of the Eight Immortals and Stone Steps. There will be a photo opportunity at the Tropic of Cancer before making our way to our overnight accommodation. Dinner tonight will be at the hotel. (Western Style Buffet) Overnight: Parkview Hotel, Hualien (4****) Day 9 Wednesday Mar 14: Taroko Gorge - Hualien Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner This morning after breakfast we stop to view an IMAX Film Presentation of Taroko Gorge before experiencing the stunning Taroko Gorge, a natural attraction created by a river which has cut deep into the mountains of solid marble. A road carved into sheer walls of rock snakes its way past forested peaks and cliffs towering thousands of feet above it, while hundreds of feet below a river roars past gigantic marble boulders. We visit one of the World s largest marble factories with its impressive displays and massive showrooms. Stops will be made at Evergreen Shrine, Swallow Grotto, Tunnel of Nine Turns, Marble Bridge and Tienshiang. Taroko Gorge is spectacular in every sense and will be one of the major highlights of the tour. Lunch today is included at the "Blue Blue" restaurant before making our way back to Hualien. Day 10 Thursday Mar 15: Hualien - Taipei Breakfast & Lunch After breakfast we start our journey back to Taipei, stopping for lunch. Later on in the day we visit the Chongshan Recreational Farm for a unique Taiwanese tea plantation cultural experience. We arrive into Taipei this afternoon for check in. Dinner tonight back in Taipei is at own cost and provides a perfect opportunity to try out the local restaurants of choice. Overnight: Howard Plaza Hotel Taipei (4 ½ ****) Day 11 Friday Mar 16: Taipei Breakfast & Dinner After breakfast enjoy a free day at leisure. Our hotel is centrally located close to many of Taipei s shopping and tourist districts with convenient and in-expensive public transport options. The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) train system is adjacent to the hotel and can travel from one side of Taipei to the other in half an hour. Browse the endless shops in search of that unique souvenir or local bargain, take the opportunity to revisit any of the cities tourist attractions or sites, the choice is yours, so make the most of the day. Tonight we enjoy our last dinner together, a special Peking Duck Banquet.. Overnight: Howard Plaza Hotel Taipei (4 ½ ****) Day 12 Saturday Mar 17: Taipei - Brisbane Breakfast & Afternoon Tea at the Grand Hotel Regrettably it s our last day in Taiwan. For our convenience we have arranged a leisurely breakfast and a later than normal hotel checkout. Enjoy a special farewell from Taiwan when we visit one of Taipei s original icons, the luxurious and ornate Taipei Grand Hotel for a traditional afternoon tea. It is a grand experience and sheer indulgence with a capital I. So make sure you save plenty of room in your tummies. Late this afternoon we depart the City en-route to CKS International Airport with a visit to Yingko pottery town. After airline check-in there is time for some last minute duty free shopping before boarding our overnight flight with China Airlines back to Australia. Enjoy the flight with time to reflect on the many memorable highlights of your holiday. GROUP TERMS & CONDITIONS HOW TO CONFIRM YOUR PLACE ON THE TOUR A $500.00 deposit per person will be required for this tour by nominated deposit date. Payment of your deposit and the signed booking form will secure your place on the tour and you will receive confirmation in writing. The balance of your tour is payable 90 days prior to your tours departure. For bookings made within 90 days, full payment is required immediately. If payment is not received by the due date, Trade Travel reserves the right to cancel your place on the tour and you will incur cancellation fees. CHANGES TO YOUR BOOKING Any changes to your booking once the deposit has been received will incur an amendment fee of $75.00.
