D nt pen multiple grund psitins unless Clearance Delivery is pen. CLEARANCE DELIVERY Rutes Ensure that all aircraft depart ZDV n rutings cmpliant with all inter ARTCC letters f agreement. Ensure that all aircraft destined fr the Cheyenne r Clrad Springs terminal areas depart n rutings cmpliant with the D01 CYS and D01 COS letters f agreement. All IFR aircraft leaving D01 airspace shall be issued an apprpriate Departure Prcedure. Attempt t assign a pilt nav SID first. If the aircraft is unable t accept the SID, crdinate with the cntrller prviding departure services t determine the best radar vectr rute. Altitudes Initial altitudes SID departures with a published tp altitude: Climb via SID. Except nn jet aircraft n the PLAINS departure: Climb via SID except maintain 9,000. Nn SID departures 9,000 MSL t all departures landing in Denver TRACON airspace. 9,000 MSL t IFR aircraft filed 10,000 MSL r belw and exiting TRACON airspace. 9,000 MSL t all nn jet aircraft filed ut f the East departure gate. 10,000 MSL t all ther aircraft
Advise all aircraft filed abve their initial altitude t expect the apprpriate requested altitude 10 minutes after departure, unless the aircraft is n a SID Frequency Issue the apprpriate departure frequency based n the departure gate the aircraft is filed ut f. Squawk Cdes All aircraft shall be assigned squawk cdes frm the 0601 0677 range. VFR Clearance delivery will slicit all relevant flight plan infrmatin frm VFR departure and create a flight plan (if nne exists) t include aircraft type, destinatin/departure directin, requested altitude and ther pertinent infrmatin. D nt ask the pilt t create a flight plan. Clearance delivery will then issue a class brav clearance t include a squawk cde and departure frequency. D nt issue an altitude t remain at r belw.
GROUND CONTROL General At n pint shall grund cntrllers track any aircraft. Ensure all departures have the current ATIS. Determine aircraft lcatin prir t issuing any taxi instructin. Grund Cntrl shall crdinate all active runway crssings with Lcal (twer) Cntrl. Grund Cntrl shall assign the best departure runway in descending preference: The runway directly aligned with the aircraft s departure gate (ie: 17R fr SOLAR). If unable, the runway facing adjacent t the aircraft s departure gate (ie: 25 fr YAMMI in suth calm). If unable, the runway clsest t the turn ut directin (ie: 17L fr YOKES in suth all). Taxiway Delegatins East Grund wns all mvement areas, nt including active runways, east f and including Taxiway L, als including Taxiways SC, A and Z east f G but excluding taxiways EA, EC and P suth f P7. West Grund wns all mvement areas, nt including active runways, west f and including Taxiway G and excluding taxiways WC, WD, WE and D nrth f D5. Active taxiways nt cntrlled by Grund are delegated t the apprpriate Twer psitin unless therwise crdinated.
Figure 4 1 Taxiway Cntrl Delegatin Ramp Crdinatin During split grund peratins, West Grund has discretin ver the west prtin f the ramp, and East Grund has discretin ver the east prtin f the ramp. Grund cntrllers shall cmply with taxiway directins and ensure aircraft are instructed t cntact the ppsite grund cntrller (if traversing the ramp) prir t crssing sides. Remember, the ramp is a nn mvement area s aircraft may pushback and taxi shrt f Taxiway G r L withut ATC clearance. During nrmal peratins CS, BS and AS are eastbund taxiways and AA, AN and BN are westbund. CN is bidirectinal. When RVR is belw 1,200ft all ramps are westbund.
Figure 4 2: Ramp Cntrl Flw TOWER CONTROL Definitin f Airspace: 1. Denver Twer airspace is as defined in the DEN ATCT D01 letter f agreement: at General r belw 10,000 MSL within 8NM f the apprach end f Runway 17R excluding: Airspace in FR airspace abve 7,000 MSL BKF Class D airspace, belw 8,000 MSL FTG Class D airspace, belw 7,000 MSL 1. At n pint shall twer cntrllers track any aircraft. Crdinate runway assignments as necessary. 2. Reference departure heading diagrams fr all IFR aircraft utilizing legacy and RNAV/Pilt NAV SIDs. When an aircraft n an RNAV SID is assigned a departure heading (due t cnverging ps), als assign 10,000 feet initial altitude with the takeff clearance.
VFR 3. Twer is respnsible fr keeping the ATIS current, and shall advise D01 and Twer cab cntrllers when there is a change. 4. When twer is split, bth cntrllers shall crdinate departures frm runways 7, 16L/R, 26 and 35L/R t ensure departing aircraft d nt crss paths. 1. When a VFR aircraft is ready fr departure, the Twer cntrller must get a release frm the apprpriate D01 cntrller. This can include an initial altitude and/r departure heading that must be acknwledged by the VFR pilt. 2. VFR clsed traffic des nt need t cntact a D01 cntrller. VFR clsed traffic shuld typically be n runway 17L r 34L. VFR arrivals shuld typically be assigned runway 17R/35L. Changing Runway Cnfiguratin 1. Advise Grund Cntrl and D01 f the last departure/arrival in the ld cnfiguratin, when the last departing aircraft n the ld cnfiguratin will be airbrne, and n what heading the last departing aircraft n the ld cnfiguratin will depart. 2. Wrk with TMU/CIC and D01 cntrllers when changing runway cnfiguratin. IFR Departure Releases 1. Denver ATCT has autmatic releases fr IFR departures, assuming the fllwing cnditins are met: IFR departures are squawking Mde C and assigned cde prir t cntacting departure. A rlling call is sent t the departure cntrller after the takeff clearance, including the callsign, runway, and ne f the fllwing as applicable: RNAV SID name (i.e. CONNR) Legacy SID transitin (i.e. HCT) Nn standard assigned heading (i.e. H135 r RH fr runway heading) Examples: UAL123 17R CONNR, SWA456 8 GLD, AAL789 25 H350, etc. Landing Cnfiguratins 1. Denver Twer will decide landing cnfiguratin based n winds, weather cnditins and traffic levels upn crdinatin with the Cntrller in Charge (CIC) and the Traffic Management Unit (TMU) when they are nline.
2. If the wind is gusting, use the gusts as the wind speed when determining landing cnfiguratin. 3. Calm wind cnfiguratins shall be used whenever the wind is 10 knts r less. If the wind is calm (0 knts) r variable, utilize Land Suth Calm. 4. Cnverging Operatins are preferred when the wind is 11 t 20 knts. Visibility must be 5 miles r greater and the ceiling must be 1,700 feet r greater therwise use the calm wind cnfiguratins withut the departure runway with a tailwind up t 20 knts. 5. During IMC, the default landing cnfiguratin shall be Land Nrth All, unless the wind is excessive frm the suth. 6. If the weather is belw standard ILS minimums and CAT I, II, r III appraches are in effect, the landing cnfiguratin shall be Nrth All regardless f wind cnditins. 7. During day t day peratins in VMC, use the fllwing guidance based n the wind. During events r ther very busy times, cnsult the CIC fr the best cnfiguratin.
