DEFINITIONS BKF Sandbx: As depicted in Figure 1. This airspace can be blcked frm 7,500 MSL t FL230 fr use fr BKF fighter jet departures and arrivals. Cnfiguratin: The primary directin f landing. Departure Gates: Radials defining bundaries in which aircraft exit TRACON airspace: Nrth gate: Mile High VOR (DVV) 314 radial clckwise t the DVV038 radial. East gate: Falcn VOR (FQF) 038 radial clckwise t the DVV125 radial. Suth gate: FQF127 radial clckwise t the FQF220 radial. West gate: DVV225 radial clckwise t the FQF306 radial Final Radar (FR) airspace: Airspace depicted in the departure heading diagrams GENERAL CONTROL D01 delegates t DEN ATCT airspace at r belw 10,000 MSL within 8NM f the apprach end f Runway 17R as depicted in figure 1 excluding: Airspace in FR airspace abve 7,000 MSL BKF Class D airspace, belw 8,000 MSL FTG Class D airspace, belw 7,000 MSL DEN ATCT is respnsible fr separatin inside f the Final Apprach Fix except: During simultaneus instrument appraches, D01 is respnsible fr separatin until a 1 mile final BKF SANDBOX PROCEDURES D01 shall advise when aircraft that will utilize the Sandbx are 25 NM frm BKF. When the Sandbx is active, DEN ATCT shall ensure aircraft d nt enter the prtected airspace arund the Sandbx Fr Sandbx departures nly, d nt use the 185 heading fr DEN departures t the Suth Crridr.
ARRIVALS Fr Sandbx arrivals, assign suth crridr departures the 135 heading nly. The fllwing cnverging instrument appraches are authrized any time DEN weather is 2,000 AGL and 5 NM visibility r greater: ILS r RNAV: 16L / 16R and 17R / 17L and ILS r RNAV 7 ILS r RNAV: 34L / 34R and 35L / 35R and ILS r RNAV 26 ILS r RNAV: 35L / 35R and ILS r RNAV 07 Visual appraches t Runways 16L, 16R, 35L and 35R ( Civil War ps ) are authrized. Visual appraches t Runways 07 and 26 are authrized. DEN ATCT must be able t, and is respnsible fr, prviding separatin in the event f missed appraches in all f the abve situatins Reduced separatin (2.5 miles in trail) is authrized fr Runways 16L, 16R, 35L and 35R. D01 shall be infrmed as sn as practicable f all missed appraches. Unless therwise crdinated, missed appraches shall be issued the fllwing: An authrized departure heading immediately adjacent t FR airspace Example: during LAND NORTH, nly assign an east r west heading (ie: 105, 245) Climb t 9,000 Handff t the apprpriate DR cntrller D01 has cntrl fr turns twards FR airspace and climb t 9,000 fr all missed appraches. D01 shall: Transfer cmmunicatins n less than 5, preferably mre than 10, flying miles frm the airprt. During simultaneus ILS appraches, transfer cmmunicatins n later than the DUALS/TRIPS bar as apprpriate. Ensure all arrival aircraft have the assigned landing runway in the scratch pad. Nt allw aircraft landing runways 35L, 34R r 17R t intercept the final apprach curse inside the Final Apprach Fix.
DEPARTURES DEN ATCT shall: Issue prper ruting fr all IFR departures including: A pilt nav SID (nt the DENVER SID) as much as pssible fr aircraft leaving D01 t destinatins ther than COS r CYS Cmpliant with all inter ARTCC, D01 COS and D01 CYS LOA s Assign the fllwing altitudes t departing aircraft: SID departures with a published tp altitude: Climb via SID. Except nn jet aircraft n the PLAINS departure: Climb via SID except maintain 9,000. Nn SID departures 9,000 MSL t all departures landing in Denver TRACON airspace. 9,000 MSL t IFR aircraft filed 10,000 MSL r belw and exiting TRACON airspace. 9,000 MSL t all nn jet aircraft filed ut f the East departure gate. 10,000 MSL t all ther aircraft Request a release frm D01 fr all VFR departures leaving twer airspace. The release may include a departure heading and/r altitude restrictin. Ensure aircraft are turning t r established n the apprpriate departure heading r RNAV path. Assign 10,000 feet t aircraft n an RNAV SID that have been assigned a departure heading (due t cnverging ps). Ensure like type aircraft d nt require flight paths t crss in rder t intercept the flight planned rute. Transfer cmmunicatins t DR n later than the lateral bundary f DEN ATCT airspace. Preferably, transfer shuld ccur prir t the aircraft leaving 8,000. TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT During a change in runway cnfiguratin, DEN shall advise which aircraft will be the final departure in the ld cnfiguratin, and when that aircraft will be airbrne.
During a change in runway cnfiguratin, D01 shall advise which aircraft will be the last arrival n the ld cnfiguratin. Whenever pssible, 2 r mre runways shall be designated fr arrivals. Runway cnfiguratin pririties: The primary calm wind cnfiguratin is SOUTH. The secnd preferred cnfiguratin is NORTH. The third preferred cnfiguratin is NORTH r SOUTH cnverging with WEST. The furth preferred cnfiguratin is NORTH r SOUTH cnverging with EAST. During VFR cnditins, LAND NORTH/SOUTH ( Civil War ps ) may be cnsidered fr peak arrival demand.
