The Indian government approved its first Intellectual Property Rights Policy in May 2016. The Policy is in compliance with WTO's (World Trade Organisation) agreement on TRIPS (Trade Related aspects of IPRs), aims to sustain entrepreneurship and boost Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet scheme 'Make in India. The increasing advantage of the intangible assets as a source of value creation for the firms makes intellectual property rights more attractive, in this context the Centre in association with Business Standard organized a panel discussion to highlight various IPR tools and their respective regulations. As the festive season was about to make an auspicious augment the Women Entrepreneurs were there at the WTC exhibition Autumn Celebrations to exhibit the best of handlooms and handicrafts. The Exhibition not only gave them a fruitful experience but also brought to them a visibility amongst the various segments of the society In its pursuit to work sturdier towards hand holding of the MSMEs of the state the Centre held prolific discussions with a senior team of MSME Development Institute of Government of India at Cuttack. The issues thus covers a glimpse of the meet. The issue further carries an introduction to World Trade Centre Winnipeg with an objective to get you familiarised with their focus areas and services. Activities August 2017 Panel discussion on Enhancing awareness on Intellectual Property Rights Intellectual Property Rights is critical, primarily because of the advancement of technology said Mr. Sujeet Kumar, OSD-cum- Special Secretary, Odisha State Planning Board. It is one of the major components of the Start up India mission he added. This he said while delivering his address at a panel discussion on Enhancing awareness on Intellectual Property Rights organized by World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar in association with Business Standard Smart Business here on 29th August 2019. While addressing the delegates he further deliberated that it is highly essential for the start-ups and MSMEs to be aware on how to protect as well monetize such intangible assets. He also highlighted on the SIPP (start-ups intellectual property protection) scheme of Government of India and the role of intellectual property facilitators. Ms. Avasi Mohanty an IPR Legal Associate from Lex Protector International Law Office through her presentation deliberated on the types of trademarks and patents and also explained their registration, filing and renewal models. Activities September 2017 Autumn Celebrations exhibits best of Odisha H&H World Trade Center Bhubaneswar hosted a unique exhibition with the best of handloom and handicraft (H&H) products put to display by women entrepreneurs of the state. The exhibition held on 16th September 2017 at the Extn. Building of IDCO Towers showcased a variety of MSME products ranging from handicrafts, handloom, spices, processed food, home decor etc. The event attracted foot falls from visitors including members of WTC, government officials, general public as well as other entrepreneurs. Activities February 2016 WTC Bhubaneswar establishes ties with MSME - DI Prolific discussions were held between World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar and senior officials of MSME Development Institute (MSME-DI), Government of India here in Cuttack on September 20, 2017. While chairing the round table discussion Dr. S.K. Sahoo, Director, MSME-DI emphasised on the colossal need for creation of awareness among the MSMEs of the State of Odisha regarding various critical aspects of doing business. He urged that the MSMEs should be provided with a perpetual platform for gaining orientation on the basics of an enterprise right from registration of Udyog Aadhar to protection of their ideas in terms of utilizing the IPR tools. Updated information and outreach on various government schemes from time to time is also highly critical and needs to be taken care off he said. Mr. S.K. Cultural Highlight Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Award Festival 2017 The 23rd edition of the annual Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Award Festival organised by Srjan took off here in Bhubaneswar from September 5, 2017. The five day event began with great enthusiasm and excitement with the art connoisseurs thronging to witness the dance extravaganza at Rabindra Mandap. Guru Dhruba Charan Biswal and Shyamamani Devi were honoured with the NALCO sponsored Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Award 2017 in the field of dance and music respectively. Similarly, NALCO Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Yuva Pratibha Samman 2017 was presented to Lingaraj Pradhan (Bhubaneswar) and Namrata Mehta (Mumbai) for Odissi dance, Jyotsna Jagannathan (Bangalore) for Bharatanatyam and Jateen Kumar Sahoo (Mumbai) for Odissi music. The highlight of the festival was a special presentation by dancers of the host organisation, Mahanayaka Bijayananda, which is a thematic presentation in Odissi dance on the life of Biju Patnaik. Day 1 witnessed EKATATWA : a pure dance of odissi, kathak & bharatnatyam and enchanting rhythm of flute & veena jugalbandi while day 2, 3, 4 & 5 witnessed bharatnatyam performance and enchanting rhythm of table, a musical fusion shivagni, kathak and carnatic vocal, special presentation by srjan mahanayaka bijayananda respectively.
