Refer to your RV's wiring diagram for placement of existing wires before drilling or beginning awning installation. Be sure that placement of controls, cables, and or wires does not impede, crimp or otherwise obstruct continuity of electrical current. 3 Girard Systems

INSTALLATION SEQUENCE G2085 Measuring Instructions 3 hours (based on one installer) 1. Measure window frame from outside edge to outside edge. 2. Add 12" to overall frame size for proper side coverage 3. Contact Dealer for Quote Bracket Positioning 1. Mark centerline and ends of the awning against the RV wall. Mark bracket location 2" from top of window frame. 2. Snap horizontal chalk line. (Fig1) 3. The wall brackets are to be inset 2" from the outer edge of the housing unit. The bottom of the mounting bracket should be no less than 2" above window frame. (Fig2) 32 1/2" (Fig 1) RV Side View NOTE: If window is shorter than arms length of 32 1/2" the Bottom of the arms MUST NOT fall below base of window frame IMPORTANT: Mounting brackets must be parrallel to each other to prevent binding of awning arms upon operation NOTE: The bottom side of the brackets are 1/4" lower than the bottom of the housing 4 Girard Systems

Using the right hand mounting bracket as a template, ensuring bottom of bracket is parallel with top of window frame, trace the 4 bracket holes. (Fig.3) 5. Use a nail punch to strike punch to strike where the selftapping screws (not provided) are to be placed. 6. Pre-drill hole with 1/8" drill 5 Girard Systems

8. Apply a liberal amount of silicone to RV around drill holes prior to installing bracket. (Fig.4) 9. Install the bracket using #12 x 1 1/2" self tapping screws (not provided0 10. Apply silicone bead around edges of mounting bracket 11. Repeat steps 3-10 for left hand mounting bracket and center bracket (if applicable) 12. Drill a 5/16" hole in RV for the awning motor cable. hole should be inset 1" from edge of awning and even with top of bracket. (Fig.1) Figure 4 Silicone Pattern MOUNTING AWNING TO BRACKETS 1. loosen 3mm bracket set screws on bottom of bracket. 2. Feed motor wire through black wall grommet, help may be needed pulling wire through into the inside of the RV. Silicone black wall grommet and push into motor wire hole until flush with side wall. (5/16" hole) 3. lift awning into position for placement onto brackets 4. Apply silicone to motor cable when about 1" away from placing awning onto bracket. Silicone will then be drawn into hole as cable is fed through. 5. Position awning into brackets by inserting bracket lip into top housing groove, then push bottom of housing into bracket. (Fig.5) 6. ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION-PADDLE SWITCH IMPORTANT: ALL ELECTRICAL WORK MUST COMPLY TO ALL RVIA CODES AND NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODES. Figure 6 Wiring Diagram (Paddle Switch) 1. Run wall mount paddle switch cable wiring from switch box to junction box. (Not provided) 2. Insert all the wires through wiring guide holes at the bottom of junction box 3. Connect wires as follows: 1) Brown wire (B1): from paddle switch to black wire from motor. 2) Red wire (A1): from switch to red wire from motor 3) black wire (L1): from paddle switch to white wire from main power source 4) White wire: from motor to white wire from main power source 5) green ground wires (3): connect Figure 7 Paddle Switch Assembly wires from switch box, motor and main power source to each other, ground to junction box, and then secure all connections with pigtail. (See Wiring Diagram, Fig. 6 and Paddle Switch Assembly Fig7) 7 Girard Systems

REMOTE CONTROL (OPTIONAL) NOTE: To change direction of the remote motor hold the stop key for 10 seconds Figure 6A Wiring Diagram (Remote Control) 1. Insert all the wires through wiring guide holes at bottom of branch box. 2. Connect wires as follows: 1) Black wire (L1): from motor to black wire from main power source. 2) White wire: from motor to white wire from main power source. 3) Green ground wires (3): connect wires from branch box, motor and main power source to each other, ground to branch box and then secure all connections Hz Operator Wiring NOTE: All ELECTRICAL WORK MUST COMPLY TO ALL RVIA CODES AND NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODES 1. It is recommended that provisions be made to cut power individually when wiring Hz operators. (This can be in the form of an in-line OFF/ON switch. the ability to cut the power to each motor individually is required to easily program the motor). 8 Girard Systems

ATTACHING SPRING ARMS TO LEAD RAIL 1. Extend the awning open so that the lead rail drops 2-3 " from housing. if using optional remote control see page 11- section A 2. Remove one led rail end cap (secured by 1 phillips screw Fig 8) 3. Remove 1/2"wide insert that is snapped into bottom of lead rail by pulling outward. 4. Remove black plastic endcap located on bottom of arm to reveal bottom mounting screw hole. 5. Loosen threaded slide lock attached to each window arm. DO NOT REMOVE (Fig. 9). 6. Slide left arm into groove on lead rail making sure tabs are pointing inward (Fig. 9). Figure 8 Removal of End Cap 7. Slide right arm into groove on lead rail. 8. Position arms along the outside of window frame hugging the frame on both sides (Fig. 10). 9. Once positioned, secure arms to lead rail by tightening phillips set screw. MOUNTING SPRING ARMS TO RV 1. Retract the lead rail. Position by hand so that it joins the housing. 2. Beginning with the bottom mounting hole on the right arm, mark the location where 1" self tapping stainless steel screw will be placed. Repeat with left arm. Figure 9 Attaching Arms 3. Secure arm using self tapping screws. 4. Remove the protective wrapping around each arm. NOTE the safety caution sticker (Fig. 11). 5. Open awning about 12" - make sure bottom of the arms are parrallel. If not, see (Section F) "Adjusting of Spring Arms" 6. Continue attaching arms by adding 1 screw to the top hole of each arm. ADJUSTMENT OF SPRING ARMS 1. Roll in the awning. 2. Loosen the 3mm allen set screw in the hinge. (Fig. 12) (Do not remove) 3. Push hinges up until the lead rail almost meets the housing so that there is about a 1/16" gap between lead rail and box. 4. Tighten 3mm allen set screws. 5. Repeat step 2-4 for each arm. INSTALLATION OF LEAD RAIL INSERT Figure 11 Safety Notice The single piece of lead rail insert will be cut with hacksaw into 3 pieces 1. Using tape-measure, measure the distance between left & right arms (inside dimensions). 2. Measure outside of arms to end of awning. 3. Trim remaining insert to fit. 4. Attach to lead rail with clips provided. INSTALLATION OF WEATHER SEAL 1. After the awning is installed, in position, is wired and completely functional, apply a bead of silicon along 2 sides of weather seal. Figure 12 Spring Arm Adjustment 2. Firmly press the weather seal into place. 3. smooth excess silicon over top of weather seal. 10 Girard Systems

1 MOTOR 1 REMOTE CONTROL/WIRELESS SWITCH 1. The motor will be in "Factory Mode " right out of the box when power is connected. To prepare the motor for programming, press the transmitter UP and Down buttons simultaneously until motor jogs forward and back. 2. Hold the transmitter within 10 feet of the motor and press the UP button. if the motor rotates in the UP direction, move to step 4 programming. 3. If the motor, goes Down instead of Up, press and hold the stop button until the motor bounces forward and back. Confirm the Up button now makes the awning go up. 4. Hold the transmitter within 10 feet of the motor head. Press and hold the program button (about 1 second) until the motor jogs forward and then back. Transmitter range will now be approximately 100 ft. 5. You can now proceed to the up and down limit settings. MULTIPLE MOTORS - 1 REMOTE CONTROL/WIRELESS SWITCH Successful programing is accomplished by programming one awning at a time. To prevent error you must make sure that the power is OFF to all previously programmed awnings; before moving to the next. 1. Turn power ON to the first awning you wish to program. 2. Make sure you have both the remote control and wireless switch in hand. 3. Using remote control, press the gray channel selector to set sequence. (i.e., 1st awning should be indicated by the first light, 2nd awning by second light etc.). The corresponding LED light will blink for 3 seconds indicating channel. 4. Press the transmitter up and down buttons simultaneously until the motor jogs forward and back. 5. Hold the remote within 10 feet of the motor and press the Up button. if the awning moves in the Up direction move to step 7. 6. If the awning goes down instead of Up, press and hold the stop button until the motor jogs. Confirm the Up button now makes the awning go Up. 7. Using the remote control confirm you are on the proper channel then press and hold the program button on the back of the remote. Awning will jog indicating correct programming. 11 Girard Systems

8. Select the channel you just programed with the remote control. Press and hold the program button on the back of the remote control again - until motor jogs. Immediately find the same channel on your wireless switch using the set button. Then push and hold program button on the side of the wireless switch. Motor will jog confirming programing. 9. Select the channel you just programed with the remote control. Again press and hold the program button on the back of the remote control until the awning jogs. 10. Select the All channel on the remote control (all LED's light up). Press and hold the program button on the back of the remote control. Awning will jog confirming group operation. 11. Repeat steps 9-10 using the wireless switch. 12. The remote control and wireless switch are now programed for individual or group control usage. NOTE: Before moving to the next awning disconnect power to each previously programed awning. 12 Girard Systems

PROGRAMMING DIRECTIONAL ROTATION 1. The motor must be in "Factory Mode" - requires continous pressure on the transmitter to run. If the motor is not in factory mode or if you have any problems changing the direction of the rotation, go to Resetting to Factory Mode on page 14 and follow the procedure to change the motor back to the factory setting. 2. Press the UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously; this will cause the motor to jog. Press the UP button if the motor goes down instead of up, press and hold the Stop button until the motor gives a short UP/DOWN bounce. Confirm the up button now makes the motor run up. NOTE: In factory mode the motor will only run when the transmitter button is held down and only for 3 seconds on 1 press. To confirm running the motor in the selected direction, release the transmitter button and press it again. Retract Stop Extend DELETING A CHANNEL Fig. 14 Optional Remote Control 1. Activate the Hz's memory by pushing for 3 seconds the programming button of the transmitter channel already recorded in the motor's memory. 2. When the awning bounces, the remote enters Programming Mode and is ready to delete a transmitter/channel. 3. Select the transmitter/channel you wish to delete from the HZ motor's memory. 4. Press the programming button momentarily - 1 second - of any transmitor/channel you wish to delete (Fig. 14). 5. The awning will bounce IN/OUT indicating the transmitter/channel has been deleted. 6. Repeat above steps to delete additional channels. NOTE: if the transmitter/channel has not been previously memorized it will be added instead of deleted 13 Girard Systems

RESETTING THE Hz MEMORY- FACTORY MODE 1. Perform a double power cut in the following sequence: a. Power-OFF - 1 second minimum b. Power-ON - 5 to 15 seconds c. Power-OFF - 1 second minimum d. Power ON 2. Press and hold the programming button of an already recorded transmitter/channel for a total of 7 seconds. 3. After 1 second the awning will bounce IN/OUT - continue holding the programming button for 6 more seconds until the awning bounces again then immediately release the programming button. 4. The Hz's memory is now cleared and in "Factory Mode". HOW TO REPLACE THE BATTERY 1. Remove back cover with screwdriver. 2. Slide battery out by pushing with screwdriver 3. G-2085 ADJUSTMENT AND REPAIR ADJUSTING MOTOR LIMIT SWITCHES NOTE: There are 2 different motors - Standard or Remote Control - The following procedure may be applied to either of them. Tools Required: Black plastic key provided with awning, or 4mm (5/32") allen wrench. PROCEDURE The limit switches are adjusted at the factory prior to shipment. the awning motor is set to stop at exact moment the awning box closes. The awning motor is also set to stop at the exact moment that, while opening, the arms lock into the extended position. Always check the motor rotational limits after installation to assure that the awning opens and closes crrectly. additionally, awning fabric can stretch, requiring simple adjustments. VERY IMPORTANT Extreme care must be taken when setting the IN limits of the motor to ensure that the motor turns off at exactly the same as the awning box closes; if not, the motor will continue to run as it has not reached its limit. This condition, if not corrected, will substantially reduce motor life. After a motor has been replaced, the limit switches which control the awning's inward and outward stopping points must be reset. The IN switch must be set so that the awning motor stops at the exact moment the awning box closes. Likewise, the OUT limit must be set to stop at the exact moment that, while opening, the arms lock into 90 o degree position. With a new motor the limit switches are set at mid-point; the awning will stop with the OUT limit at approximately halfextension, and the IN limit will be set past where the awning should normally close. For a right-hand motor installation 9standard), the OUT limit switch is the outermost hole, and the IN limit switch is the innermost hole. For a left-hand installation, these switch locations (holes) are opposite 9reversed). See diagram on next page for reference. 15 Girard Systems

G-2085 SETTING LIMITS SETTING OUT (EXTEND) LIMITS 1. Extend the awning until the motor stops. 2. Locate the motor limit switches mounted inside the black/red casing at the exposed end of the motor. Beside each switch is a directional arrow with a plus (+) and a minus (-) sign. 3. Set OUT limit to stop the exact moment the arms reach 90 o degrees. SETTING IN (RETRACT) LIMITS 1. Place the awning in the IN position and allow the awning to roll up to about 6" of being fully closed. place the switch in the STOP position. 2. Locatre the IN limit switch. Turn the switch in the (-) direction about twenty (20) turns. 3. Place awning switch in the OUT position and open the awning a few inches. 4. Reverse the switch direction to close the awning. (This is to ensure that the IN limit switch stops the awning before the awning is completely closed. If not, continue adjusting the IN limit switch in the (-) direction until the awning stops before it is closed.) 5. Once it is correctly adjusted, place the awning switch in the IN position and turn the IN limit switch in the (+) direction. The awning will "follow" as you turn the switch. Continue until the awning box is approximatley 3" from closing. 6. The final adjustment requires estimating the amount of awning closure per switch rotational distance. (A1/4 turn represents approximately 1" of awning movement) Turn the switch the estimated amount, keeping your hand away from the box as the awning closes. Make sure the motor does not continue to run or hum after the box is closed; if it does open the awning a few inches and back the switch up in the (-) direction. repeat this procedure until the motor turns OFF at the exact moment the awning box closes. Caution, over adjustment of inward limit will cause motor bracket to break If adjustments are required, please follow these instructions. 1. Adjust the limit switches with the black plastic key (provided) or a 4mm Allen wrench. 2. Extend the awning a few feet and locate the cylindrical awning motor mounted inside the awning roller tube 9standard installation is at the right/front end of the awning). The limit switches are mounted on the black casing at the exposed end of the motor. at the limit switches are two red directional arrows, each witha plus (+) sign and a minus (-) sign. The actual limit switch is the recessed hole next to the corresponding arrow.) 3. Adjust limits according to the directional arrows (Fig 13 call-out). A 1/4 turn represents approximately 1" of awning movement. Never set outward limits so that fabric is slack after full arm extension. adjust limit switches until the motor stops at the exact time that the arms reach a 90 o with coach wall (Fig 13A). 16 Girard Systems

Relieve tension from fabric by (+) the out limit until the roller tube is exposed and fabric hangs straight down 2. Remove lead rail end caps (both sides) and housing end cap opposite of motor and fabric srews on both side of lead rail. 3. Remove old fabric and insert new fabric. 4. Close awning making sure fabric is rolling up straight evenly spaced on both sides of tube. 5. open awning about 1/2 way, then 9-) the out limit to its original 90 degree position. 6. re-attach farbic screws and lead rail caps and housing cap. 6. Slide arm out of lead rail groove and insert new arm making sure threaded slide lock is attached to arm loosely. 7. Locate bottom mounting hole and re-attach to coach wall. 8. Open awning to full extension and secure middle and top mounting screws. 9. Close awning making sure arm follows straight up into its groove. 10. Re-insert plug on bottom of arm. 11. if lead rail is low or too high see troubleshootiong guide to adjust lead rail height/position. MOTOR REPLACEMENT 1. Open awning to full extension (+) the out limit taking all tension off the fabric. 2. Remove motoside end cap off main housing 3. Remove 3 perimeter srews from interior black plate. 4. Remove top housing screw into black plate. 5. Cut motor wire and pull the entire assembly out of the rollertube. 6. Remove motor bolts from interior black plate. 7. Re-insert new motor into roller tube. make sure to alight and drive properly and to feed fish motorcord into coach for connections. 8. Re-attach perimeter srews onto interior black plate. 9. Re-attach top housiing screw into interior black plate 10. Re-attach motor bolts, make sure to position motor so that you can access limit switches. 11. Wire awning (2) different motors/standard or with optional remote control. (See diagram fopr each) 12. Dab each nipple of end plate with silicone and press firmly on to end of box. 13. TROUBLE-SHOOTING GUIDE NOTE: These tips are provided for informational purposes; we recommend that the adjustments be made by an authorized service center. This guide will, however, allow you to become familiar with you awning and provide you with adequate knowledge in the event of an emergency PROBLEM- SOLUTION- PROBLEM- SOLUTION- PROBLEM- SOLUTION- PROBLEM- SOLUTION- PROBLEM- SOLUTION- PROBLEM- SOLUTION- The motor will not operate. Check hat the GFI switches in the vehicle are turned on. If the coach is equipped with an awning main power switch (locate inside the cabinets), check that it is turned on. The 110V motor in the G-2085 awning is for intermittent use only (4 minutes per hour) and is designed to cut out temporarily if used to the point of overheating. In this event, the motor must be allowed to cool, to provide time for its built-in circuit breaker to reset. Allow up to one hour (depending on outside air temperature) for a cool-down period. The motor will not operate, or will operate for 10-12 inches and then stop. The motor is not receiving enough amps (i.e., the inverter output is low). Check that a minimum of 10 amps is running. if not, turn on the generator or go to shore power. The fabric is loose when the awning is fully extended (i.e., the roller keeps turning after the awning arms have locked open). The motor's OUT limits must be reset to ensure that the motor stops when the arms are at 90o degrees. See "adjusting Motor Limit Switches." The box does not close completely (i.e., the motor stops before the lead rail closed completely onto the awning casing), and there is no apparent binding of the awning components. The awning motor has manual limit settings. The IN limit may need to be adjusted to allow the box to close tighter. See "Adjusting Motor Limit Switches". Lead rail does not release immediately when powered or binds to one side. Use 3mm Allen wrench to loosen screw at bottom of arm. lower lead rail enough to avoid binding. Refer to page 10, Fig 12. How do you clear the memory of an old transmitter and add a new transmitter? If all motor's transmitters are lost or damaged, it is possible to clear the old memorized codes from memory and add the new transmitter. Perform a double power cut in the following sequence: 1. Power OFF for at least 2 seconds 2. Power ON for 5 to 15 seconds 3. Power OFF for at least 2 seconds 4. Power on (the motor will try and run up for 3 seconds but will not run past its limit) The motor is now in a "Temporary Programming Mode" (lasts for 2 min). NOTE: This is not "Factory Mode". Press and Hold the Program Button of any unmemorized transmitter for more then 5 seconds. When the motor gives a short up/down bounce, release the Program Button. the memory of the motors receiver is now cleared of the old transmitters and the new transmitter has been added. If a motor or motors are entered into "temporary Programing Mode" by mistake it can be canceled by pressing for a second on the Up, Stop, or Down of any transmitter that motor has memorized. The motor will also return to normal operating mode if left alone for 2 minutes. 23 Girard Systems

NOTE: When the motor is in "Factory Mode" is the only time the direction of rotation can be changed. To return the motor to Factory Mode" make a double power cut (see clearing memory). Press and hold for 8 seconds the Program Button of an already recorded transmitter. The motor is now in "Factory Mode". To wake the motor up, press up/down until the motor gives an up/down bounce. All transmitters are cleared from memory. The control will be in a momentary fashion ( motor will move only as long as the transmitter button is held down). If you did not use a transmitter that was memorized by the motor, you will have to repeat the process a second time. Motor goes up when down is pressed See page 13, Setting the Direction of Rotation PROBLEM- Can not change the Direction of Rotation SOLUTION- Confirm the motor is in "Factory Mode". If it is not, see page 15 PROBLEM- SOLUTION- PROBLEM- SOLUTION- Lost transmitter. Refer to "Clearing Memory" in troubleshooting section. The motor will not react to any transmitter, Confirm the motor has power to it. Make sure the motor is awake by pressing up/down buttons together until the motor gives an up/down bounce. If this does not work, cut power for 3 seconds and try again. if the motor still will not react to the transmitter refer to "Clearing Memory" on page 23 24 Girard Systems

CARE AND CLEANING OF FABRIC To ensure longevity of fabric quality it is highly advisable to maintain a regular regiment of simply brushing off daily debris and dirt from fabric. To clean the awning rinse with water. In a separate bucket mix a mild soap in water (natural soaps are best) with a clean brush dunk into the bucket and clean the awning with sweeping motions; rinse thoroughly to remove soap. If you decide to use a liquid detergent you will need to reapply a water repellent treatment, such as 303 Hi-Tech Fabric Guard or similar product. Fabric is made from 100% acrylic fiber. ( If Fabric is non-acrylic - Soltis material use liquid detergent & water) Let fabric air dry. If you need to store your fabric, keep in a dry ventilated area. STAIN SOLUTIONS FOR: Fruit Stain - liquid detergent/ammonia 3-6% water Grease (car) - volatile solvent (acetone) Iron Rust - oxalic or citric acids, water Mildew - 1/2 cup of bleach and 1/4 cup of natural soap per gallon of water Oil - Solvent (acetone) Paint (latex)wet - liquid detergent, water Paint (latex)dry - paint, oil or grease remover Paint (oil or lacquer) - paint, oil grease remover Tree sap - turpentine, liquid detergent. 26 Girard Systems
