Attalos II, King of Pergamum, founded Antalya in the 2nd century BC. Later the city was overtaken by Roman, Byzantine and Seljuk civilizations before it came under the control of the Ottomans. Today Antalya is an attractive city with its shaded palm-lined boulevards and lively marina. The picturesque old quarter known as Kaleici, with narrow streets and old wooden houses is where our hotel is located. You will need to liaise with your hosts regarding the transfer arrangements for tomorrow. Overnight Antalya. meals: NIL Transfer to Camyuva, walk to the ancient city of Phaselis and Tekirova (2hrs) This morning you will be transferred by private vehicle to Camyuva (1 hour) where the walk begins. The route to the ancient city of Phaselis is waymarked with red and white stripes. The route is through pine forests with an opportunity to swim in the ancient city. An entrance fee of 10TL is payable for Phaselis. Dominated by Mt. Tahtali, the three ports of Phaselis testify to its role of historical shopping centre. Discover the theatre, the Hadrian gate, the acropolis and many ruins of aqueducts, agoras and baths, which are perfectly integrated into the natural vegetation. After visiting the site, continue to the nearby village of Tekirova. Overnight in Tekirova. You will need to liaise with your hosts regarding the transfer arrangements for tomorrow. Cirali along the turquoise coast (7-8hrs) The Lycian way trek continues to Cirali along the turquoise coast. A short transfer takes you to the beginning of the walk. The first stage is along a disused dirt road which passes by idyllic beaches where local fishermen haul their catches. They may offer to take you by boat to Cirali which is recommended if you are tired. The trip takes only 5-10 minutes and costs 15-20TL. Otherwise the walk to Cirali will take 2 hours along the coastline on an undulating trail past small bays. Cirali is a peaceful village between ancient Olympos and Chimaera. There are two nights in the village, which is a major nesting site for the endangered loggerhead turtle (Caretta Caretta). During September you may witness the baby turtles entering the sea before sunrise. Page 2

DAY 4 DAY 5 DAY 6 DAY 7 DAY 8 To ancient ruins of Olympos, Chimaera and return to Cirali (4hrs) Today s walk takes you to the fascinating ancient city of Olympos just inland from a pretty beach. The 30 minute walk to the ruins is either along the road or via the beach. The actual ruins are scattered along a small mostly dry stream which runs through a rocky gorge. You can spend the whole day exploring the ruins and relaxing in this peaceful valley or continue on a circuit walk to Chimaera. According to legend Chimerae; the monster blowing fire its mouth was killed by the Lycian hero Belle heron. Today, situated at 300m above sea level, you can observe flames escaping among the rocks. The circuit walk then takes you back to your pension in Cirali. Ascend Musa Dag (Moses Mountain) and continue to Adrasan village (8hrs) An early start is required for the 800m ascent of Mount Moses. The route through pine forest takes you up the mountain to a shepherd hut where you can have your lunch. From here there are good views of the Adrasan valley and a short distance away are the ruins of a small lost city which are well worth exploring. Descend down to Adrasan with its 2 kilometres long sandy beach. Overnight in Adrasan. Walk to Cape Gelidonia and Karaoz, transfer to Adrasan (7-8hrs) The walk today takes you via Cape Gelidonia along the bays and pine woods to Karaoz. Overnight in Adrasan. There are some steep sections over loose trails during the walk and such sections of the trail require care. The accent is on keeping a steady pace to with time to stop and take photos (subject to weather conditions). You will need a reasonable level of fitness to participate fully in this adventure. dietary requirements Provided we are advised in advance of your departure we are able to cater for vegetarian diets and can assist with medically recommended diets (allergies and intolerances). Please ensure you discuss your requirements with us well in advance (at least 1 month prior to your trip) to determine whether we can cater to such dietary requirements on your chosen adventure. Please note that options are likely to be limited in very remote locations or alternatives may be more expensive or unavailable. There may be times when those with special requirements may need to provide their own food. We are unable to guarantee a peanut free or allergen free trip, and therefore, we strongly encourage that travellers with life threatening or severe allergies take all necessary medical precautions to prepare for the possibility of exposure. Passengers must travel with all necessary medications for food allergies and be capable of self administering these medications. a note on our self guided adventures Self guided walking or cycling requires individuals to use problem solving skills, be adaptable and have a keen eye. On self guided cycling tours it is expected that you will know how to repair punctures and make minor adjustments to gears, handlebars and seats. For anything more serious, our local partner will be able to assist. It is recommended that you are comfortable map reading, referring to route notes and that you have a good sense of direction (or are willing to work on improving this!) Sometimes route finding, losing your way, finding it again and asking the locals for help is all part of the adventure. If you ve never been on a self guided trip, after the first couple of days you will get the hang of it as the vast majority of our first time travellers attest. Please be assured that our written material issued to you for route finding is updated regularly and we provide a 7day service hotline in the event of any problems. Using directions and maps can be more difficult for solo travellers as often two heads are better than one when it comes to finding your way. There is a certain level of the unknown that comes with self guided trips, however with a methodical approach potential problems will be averted. The freedom of a self guided trip is something that, once experienced, is sought time and time again. Page 4
