1-January 2014- Website: http://www.lewisskiclub.org President's message The New Year is here, complete with beautiful wintry weather and of course SNOW! The shortest day of the year has already passed, marking that winter is officially here. With every passing day, there is more daylight hours to be spent out on the snow. Time to get out and enjoy the winter season! The new year has started off on a good ski with a solid blanket of snow in northern Ohio. Hopefully you have already had the opportunity to get out and enjoy the recent snow falls as the ski and snowboard season is already well underway. In December, the club released a new online day trip sign-up and member registration system. Now you can sign up for trips online and instantly see who else plans on joining in on the fun for the upcoming day trips. I want to thank everyone who helped with the initial testing of the system and for those who helped to identify potential issues. I also appreciate the trip leaders this season for their patience in learning and implementing the new system. I especially want to thank Dan Zeleznikar for his help in getting the system up and working and Tom Vannuyen for all the testing from the trip leader's perspective. As the first user in the trip leader's role, Tom has helped to make the process smoother for those that follow. Aaron 2

Website: http://www.lewisskiclub.org - 1 -January 2014 Racing News Get ready for racing in 2014! The weekend race series schedule is below and on our website. The Wednesday night race schedule and information is on the flyer included in this newsletter. CMSC is doing something new this year for non-racers (18 years or older) that would like to see what racing is like. Race Demo Days will be at four races: Kissing Bridge, Peak n Peek, Snow Trails and BM/BW. Show up at the top of the race hill prior to the group 3 race (usually around 1-2pm), pay a $5.00 fee, then you get to run the course twice after group 3. This is open to non-members as well as members and can only be done once. The current list of qualified racers is also posted on the website. Please welcome racers Renee Schwartz, Tom Keller, and Mike Bassett to the NASA Ski team this season! We also have several people interested in qualifying, so expect to see the roster grow even more this season. Anyone is welcome to qualify for the weekend race series at (almost) any regular race or at the qualifier at Boston Mills in the evening of Wednesday, January 8 th. Register from 6:00-7:00 P.M., race two runs on a Giant Slalom course at 7:30 PM. Skiers and boarders over 18 years old are all welcome. Contact myself or Mark Hyatt for details on either race series.
